Damage to bolt carrier. Never fired.

Hey guys, took my M4 apart to lube prior to shooting for the first time. I was shocked to see damage to the edge of the bolt carrier and what I would consider excessive markings on the receiver due to it never being fired. Let me know what you think.

Marks on the receiver probably won't cause any issues, just look ugly. That carrier looks like it was dropped on something hard. The high spots could be filed down to prevent more wear, but the correct coarse of action would be to make Benelli replace it.

Sheesh.....another brand new M4 with issues. In answer to your question as to opinions, options...., I have a rhetorical question. When we buy new car off the lot or a refrigerator from an appliance dealer, are we expected to accept dents in it or scratches on it when it's delivered?

No, not acceptable. Guns are no exception. The car may drive fine and the refer may work properly, but???????
