  1. So if you recall, I am the guy that posted a couple weeks ago about how I had bought my first M4 and right away had to send it back to Benelli due to it grinding and not to spec. The update to that M4 btw is that it went back to Benelli, and has been there for 2 weeks so far. Sigh. Well, my plan had been to eventually get a collapsing C-stock, but as you know, they are unobtainable right now, or just crazy expensive. Sooooo, impatient me struck on the idea of buying a second gun, an M1014, then once i get the M4 back from Benelli, swap out the recoil tube to get a fully functioning C-stock! I will then sell the extra M4 to a buddy of mine who has full disclosure that it no longer has the three position tube and is fine with it. Win win- I get the full collapsing Cstock, and he gets a M4 for a greatly reduced cost from me. ANYWAYS, so while my first M4 is at the shop, I found and bought a M1014, and have been decking it out. I had purchased one of the Briley carbon fiber mag tube, but had been very scared to tackle the job, fearing all the horror stories about how you had to heat it forever, and be prepared for gobs of red locktite everywhere. So got everything together, stripped down the M1014, took a deep breath, and started heating with a heat gun. I started a timer, settling in for the long haul. Around 4 minutes in, again impatient me thought Ehhhh lets give it a test, knowing it wasnt going to budge and I was just being silly. Imagine my AMAZEMENT when IT TURNED!!! I was completely caught off guard, quickly grabbing my oven mitts, and started turning. LO AND BEHOLD, it screwed right off!!! I was like WHAAAT??? Inspecting the threading, there was NO residue on the reciever. There was a TINY bit of red locktite on the mag tube threads, and that was IT! SO I gave it a couple of minutes for the receiver to cool, although it really wasnt that hot, screwed on the carbon fiber tube, and reinstalled everything. All said and done, maybe less that 10 minutes! The carbon fiber tube is AWESOME btw, makes the front end way lighter. I had ordered a Carriercomp TI tube which is still on order, and will test it when it arrives, but man the Briley tube is very nice. Anyways that’s my story, happy to have a win after the hell of having to send a brand new M4 to Benelli. Maybe I just got lucky, maybe Benelli is taking pity on the American market knowing we are all going to change out the tube, or maybe they are just being lazy/cutting more corners, but I WILL TAKE IT!

  2. Never have/will understand why it gets dumped onto the purchasing-customer to be; rational, patient, understating & embrace that manufacturers can have errors with quality oversight. This results in problems dropped into the paying customer’s lap to resolve..and the process of hearing from other people about..”what terrific customer service they have”..and..”they will make it right/fix it”..whether timely or not it’s incredibly frustrating because you didn’t pay money to have problems. Most frustrating is hearing the regurgitated term..”bad batches”..and so on. With firearms these excuses are 99% avoidable with steadfast & committed multi-point quality inspections, including functioning several times over before the gun is finally put into a shipping box..many companies claim they do this but few stand by it. Albeit, damage can still occur during shipping.

  3. big oof. Exactly why I made my own screwdriver since I never found a decent one off the shelf. There should really be a M1014 armorer's tool in the box of every brand new M1014.

  5. Yeah, I know all about that stuff. I was born, raised, and spent the first 62 years of my life in the dump. I only left that fascist POS state for a free one 5 years ago. There are some good places to shoot there if you live in the right area. The mountains or rural areas. Before I moved, I lived in Truckee, and used to shoot near Boca reservoir off I-80, and at Hobart Mills just off CA-89 towards Sierraville. Two good National forest areas. I truly hope you get the thing resolved to your satisfaction. GL!

  6. The OEM trigger guard underwent testing with Aberdeen and did fine. That is why I went with it. It's proven, and was a contract item.

  7. I've seen posts before about MGW stocking the OEM aluminum frames. What I've gleaned here is that those frames are a tighter spec for when it comes to replacing and upgrading trigger parts, and while most prefer aluminum over the polymer material anyhow, the aluminum castings aren't too pretty either and have some imperfections and impurities. I'd just spend a little more and go right to an A&S.

  8. Just got the aimpoint in today. Paid the extra $20 or whatever it was for overnight because I have a 3 day weekend and wanted it to get here. Don’t think I’ll be getting the scalarworks mount. I like the height it sits at on the stock rail. Feels similar to shouldering my ar with the 1/3 cowitness eotech that’s on there. Took some pictures in case anyone wants to know how it looks

  9. Another option would be the Trijicon SRO. It has a larger sight window than the RMR. If you pair that with a Jagerwerks BROS shield, you can harden that setup so it's gtg. It mounts to the same footprint as an RMR, and top loads a battery vs the bottom loading RMR
