  1. Just purchased a m4. I'm looking to find some of the best components for my build. I'm trying to find the best/best suggested components: Charging handle and Handguard. For charging handle I see there are a few options: GG&G, FFT, RX arms, Briley, etc. Is there any major difference between a rotating and non-rotating handle? I like the look of the GG&G or Rx Arms the best. In my opinion, the 3/4" looks the best. For handguard, I'm stuck between Agency Arms and the 8" Briley. Both are nice. The major difference I have found between the two is that the Briley covers the barrel if you were to flip the gun to load whereas the agency arms does not cover the top of the barrel. Any other suggestions are appreciated. Thank you So far my build is: Trijicon RMR 3.25 MOA Type 2 with the ScalarWorks RMR mount. BFG Vickers Padded Sling

  3. I have the Strike Industries Benelli M4 Hayl Rail MLOK Handguard (Weight 6.6 oz) installed, but only have fired about 300 rounds with this handguard; I have not seen any issues. Visual inspections showed no plate misalignment or piston impact. But I will be inspecting more thoroughly and frequently in the future. I avoid cheap ammo and only purchase well-known reliable ammo (training, defense, hunting, etc.). I had a few ammo issues before break-in which I decided was 100 rounds of 00 buck shot. After break-in my Benelli M4 seems to eat about anything I feed it. I do all my own gunsmithing taking care and caution when installing stuff including watching a bunch of YouTube videos before commencing work to obtain lessons learned from other folks. In regard to the 922r discussion - Totally agree that 922r Federal Laws do nothing to improve the M4; it all about lobbying. In fact, the gunsmithing done to make it 922r compliant increases malfunction probability, warranty compliance with Benelli, and even potential safety issues.

  5. I have had my B&T Benelli fore grip installed for several years and find the quad rail to be very effective, functional, and comfortable. It is an all aluminum construction, far superior to the Sure Fire M-80. You can install rubber rail inserts along all un-used open areas of the rail making it very comfortable. There are not many options for fore grips for the Benelli M-4. I have found this to be far superior in design in comparison to the Sure Fire M-80 which has rubber along the barrel and the Argo system pistons. I have a previous article on the malfunction that Sure Fire took responsibility for on their poor design regarding my Sure Fire M-80. The extreme heat from the barrel would disfigure the rubber along the Argo System causing the pistons to come in contact with the deformed rubber. The weapon would malfunction under rapid fire using Sabo slugs. When I contacted Sure Fire I was told to send M-80 to their research dept. where they took full responsibility for the defective product. They sent me a new M-80 from remaining new old stock. I'm assuming that's one reason among several why Sure Fire stopped production of the M-80. I have cycled up to 250 Sabo slugs in any given day, rapid fire with the B&T, without 1 malfunction.
