I find benefit from the c-stocks ability to shorten the gun for storage, the M-4 is not a small gun and would not fit in the case I use without it. I am eagerly awaiting the rx-arms 6 position recoil tube. I can shoot mine presently from either the middle or third notch but neither feel quite right. I'm confident the extra positions will rectify that.2 points

You know, I never thought of that, but you are right. All my rifles are SBR and my gauges are SBS. And I don't have a huge safe, just enough for my collection. I'd probably have to take my shelf out to fit a field stock. I'm with you on that 3-pos tube just not quite feeling right either, hoping the 6-pos will feel better.1 point

I just purchased a limited M1014 with the flag stamp off gun broker and believe it or not I got it for $1300 The seller had put a standard gun stock on it and the two round Benelli extension So I searched around and got the false mag extension for $20 and I also found a Brand new Benelli skeletonized stock that came on it it originally for $189 I just wanted the original parts in case I needed to put it back to stock some day I also found and purchased the Benelli recoil tube to make it collapsable1 point

Small update. After a long 4-5 months since I initially started this project, I am happy to say, the tubes are machined and completed. Im hoping to get them off for heat treating next week, then PVD finishing thereafter, slowly but surely...1 point

I just took a bit of a deep dive into QPQ finish. And from what I can see, briley seems to be skipping the notch heat treat, and instead relying on QPQ finish (quench polish quench), which is a type of case hardening (I am only coming to this conclusion based on the info on their website) QPQ case harden depth ranges from 0.04mm - 0.45mm. And boasts a 60-70 Rockwell hardness from what I can see online. I am deciding to go with an actual heat treat on the notches, precise and repeatable technology via computer programming, which will give a case hardened depth 2-3x that of QPQ, of 1mm-1.5mm 55-60RC. For me, I value depth of the hardened case. when we are talking about anything above 55 RC it is all very hard. PVD finish I am going with has a hardness of 3300 HV. Which I am guessing is over 100RC. I can’t find a conversion table that goes that high.. this finish is only 3 microns thick. Those are the major differences when it comes to heat treat and surface finish.1 point

When I first started researching the M4 a few years back, I honestly thought the collapsable stock looked odd. Last Feb, I came across a M1014 US flag model w fixed collapsable stock at Sportsmans warehouse. Once I started seeing the various forum member builds and comments about the middle position being right length of pull in combination w RMR and Scalerworks mount, etc etc, I've slowly been moving in that direction. Finally, I have accumulated the parts and I am all set up to switch out neutered recoil tube w the 3 position. A shout out to SD for his extensive photo essay tutorials and advice/postings from various forum members! I'll post pictures.1 point

I bought mine because I liked the option to change the length. I am a big guy and the longest setting and middle setting work great for me. It saves a little weight I am sure too. Lets all be honest to - a lot of the reason everyone gets it is because exactly like you said: it is how a Benelli M4 SHOULD look and it just looks cool.1 point
