I use a Summit Viper and like it very much. Easy to climb with and very comfortable.

I'll second the lightfields. I shoot a remington 870 with a hastings cantilever barrel on it and get about the same results as MIGrunter.

Small round piece in the bolt assembly that the firing pin goes through. Looks like a small cylinder with a hole in it.

My first SBE did the same thing only it was usually the second round and only with the 3 inch stuff. I never did figure out what exactly the problem was but I switched to Kent shells and I didn't have a problem with those. Mine would do it with Federal's or Winchester's, Winchester's were worse though. I sold that gun and bought a new SBE and haven't had one problem with it.

One thing he didn't mention is that if you buy a slug barrel from Benelli, you will either have to buy a modified forearm or modify the one you have because the slug barrel is bigger in diameter than the shot barrel. If you get one, let me know how it shoots. I've been thinking of getting one myself.

Have you checked the locking head pin? Mine did a similar thing one time and my locking head pin was broke in half.

Not to be smart, but why would you need a cantilever mount for a SBE slug gun? The top of the receiver is drilled and tapped, you could switch out the barrels and not lose your zero. The M1/M2 is a different story, I wish someone made one for it.

Weaver #93 is the scope base that will fit on the receiver if it is drilled and tapped at the factory.

I'm going to shoot again this week so I'll let you know. Yes, I am shooting off a bench with a Leupold 2x7 scope. I shot at 50 yards the other day and it seemed like I was getting some vertical stringing, may have just been me. I ran out of slugs to confirm this. I have only shot the 2 3/4 in. Lightfield EXP's and the 2 3/4 in. Winchester Platinum Tips so far. I don't know the weight and speed off hand, I pitched all the boxes. I was getting like 2-3 in. groups at 50 yards with the Winchester's being the better of the 2. I'll let you know when I shoot again this week.

Hi folks. I've got a M1 20ga. slug gun and was looking for recommendations on what everyone is shooting. I'm not getting the groups I would like. So far I have shot the Lightfields and Winchester Platinum tips. The lightfields shoot better but I was wondering what all you guys were shooting and what kind of groups you are getting. Thanks.

The weaver 93 is for shotguns.

By low profile I take it you mean low brass? Try at least a 3 dram, 1 1/8 ounce load and see how it does. That's the lowest Benelli recommends shooting in the manual. Mine will shoot lower but maybe I just got lucky with my gun.

It's a normal right hand thread but it has loc-tite on it so you may have to heat it a little to get it off. I remember the first time I took mine apart, it wasn't all that easy.

You can send it off to one of many companies and have it camo dipped. I had a 870 sent to Dura Coat in Georgia and had it done in adv. timber. Turned out really good. If you need any more info, PM me.

The limbsaver pad for the sbe 1 is fitted. Just take the old one off and screw on the limbsaver. Mine fit really well.

Yes, the safety is reversible. Any gunsmith will be able to do it. Takes about 2 minutes once you get the trigger assembly out.

Yes, I am using the Briley Hevi-Shot turkey tube. Mine patterns 3" lead #5's the best so far. Hevi 6's are a close second but not good enough to justify the money they cost.

Scott-Did you get the new SBE 2? The reason I ask, is because I am shooting the same setup as you but with an original SBE and am not getting near those results.

I handled a M2 two weeks ago in St. Charles, MO.

I emailed Benelli about this same question and they told me they had some problems with the earlier hevi-shot from the original manufacture but since Remington took over loading it, they haven't seen any problems at all. I shoot it out of mine and don't see any problem with the barrel at all.

It's pretty simple. Takes about 5 minutes to do it. I've did a couple for a buddy of mine.
