I use a .660 Rhino for lead & XR in the SBE II. That Jellyhead looks like the ticket for HS in the SBE II. mudhen - CA

Image is at work. I do my best playing at work. I'll forward it to Tucker Monday when I'm on the clock. Today I patterned turk guns and moved 400 dekes... mudhen - CA

Probably. Even though XR is a bit softer, it is prolly the same as HS for choke purposes. But, I read somewhere that XR is ok for some older guns. If I can find the link, I'll post it. mudhen - CA

I hope SVL will refund your $$$. mudhen - CA

I'll try to post some photos after this weekend. All the chokes I tested were fine up to 30-35. Only the Rhino held up out to 40. mudhen - CA

This is the best I could do... mudhen - CA Note - I can't get the image any larger. Either Photo Bucket or this website is limiting the size. I can e-mail the photo to Tucker if he wants... [ 02-24-2006, 03:21 PM: Message edited by: mudhen ]

The difference between a Kicks .660 for the SBE I & Kicks .660 for the SBE II is like night & day for me. Kicks .660 for the SBE I is simply deadly. Kicks .660 for the SBE II sucked in my gun. I tested 7-8 different choke & load combos in my SBE II, and the only acceptable pattern was from a Rhino .660 using Win XR's #6's. mudhen - CA

Pretty neat. They put all their brands in one master catalog. The SuperNova is very clean - I predict it will be a huge success - amazing selection of options. The UL is nice looking. Other new Benelli options are; 13.5" Gel Pad for Nova/SBE II/M2 Even higher raised comb pad New specialty choke tubes - looks like they can actually ship these! That's about all I saw... mudhen - CA

I bet Tucker can PhotoShop some Max 4 Fancy Hi-Cuts... MattL, don't knock 'em until you try 'em... mudhen - CA

There are many posts here in this subject. Go back a bit by Search, and you should find other posts like this. One was just a few days ago. They are two very different guns imho. No. The standard SBE II comes d&t, the standard M2 does not. I see no mention of adding d&t to 2006 M2's, so I presume they will still not be d&t this year. All Benelli slug guns come d&t though. Stocks are the same - they interchange. Yes, same action. SBE II shoots up to 3.5" shells, M2 up to 3". Read the older posts, lots of info there... mudhen - CA

May I suggest www.manties.net ? Sounds like you might like them... mudhen - CA

Hey Cbrad, I can't find the box with all my Nova chokes! I'd agree on the Undertaker. Also agree on the Win XR's. For whatever reason, most Benellis seem to like Winchester ammo. mudhen - CA

What Tucker said. The most common cause of choke bulging is very tight extended chokes like .655 Terrors and very large hard shot like steel BBB's. As far as 'needing' an extended tube, that's pretty much up to you. I am able to produce much better patterns with various extended tubes in various situations. mudhen - CA

Great first post....six months here without posting...I beg you sir, please don't go, please...sadly, you will be missed...maybe you can get a refund of the fee they charge to be here... Fear not, brave one, there will be more like you, there always are... I couldn't understand a word of his second reply and he somehow managed to mangle the facts very badly with every word he typed...not so good for a national shooting champion many times over...even worse for a troll who clearly only came here to bash the fine Benelli brand name... This one is just for you though, mudhen - CA

Black is cool. I use Breakfree CLP to keep it black. I sometimes like the sleek look of a black Benelli. Camo is fine too. Nice to not have to tape up the gun every turkey season... mudhen - CA

Dunno I truly think most folks have no idea what the camo finish is. They would rather bash it than learn anything about it. It's a thin plastic film. Period. It's not tough. Not rugged. It adds about $100 to the MSRP, which is less than it costs to have done aftermarket. It's not paint, permanent, anodized, clear coated, powder coated, etc. It does prevent some rust from forming, but it's not rustproofing. Bug spray eats it, you can scratch it off with your fingernails if you choose, it will fade over time, wear in spots, likes to flake at the edges, etc. Now true defective bubbling is bad and Benelli usually fixes under warranty. The photos above are after 100 hunts in the field. I have a few wear spots, nothing I find objectionable. Once it wears off to the point I care, I'll send it off and have it re-dipped for $100-$150. Maybe darker next time though... mudhen - CA

I think they sent you the 1.5" - never heard of a standard 1" or 2" for the SBE II although Wing Supply has been inaccurately describing the choke as 2" for years - measure just the length of the external ported section. mudhen - CA

Yes, you bought the right choke, and a great one at that. What constriction did you buy? .660 I hope. The .660 Rhino loves XR's in #6. Here's the deal; The Xtrema I & II and SBE II share the same choke system. It's the Optima Plus system for Beretta. Benelli calls it CrioChoke, but some call it Crio Plus for clarity. They interchange just fine, but remember that the name of the choke (IC/M/F, etc.) will only apply to the gun it was made for because the Optima Plus is for a back-bored gun and the Crio Plus is not. In your case, the choke should just say .660 or .670 or whatever. I would imagine they will add the SBE II name someday. Did you talk to Margaret at Rhino? I cannot imagine she would say it 'should' fit. Doesn't sound like her. She knows more about chokes than anyone I have ever talked to. But, I imagine they are swamped this time of year, so be patient. mudhen - CA

Hmmm... Since all the key aftermarket choke makers produce tubes for every brand of gun, I guess all gun makers are inattentive to their shooter's needs? That is your logic. What about AM auto parts? Are the MF's negligent for not supplying every conceivable part with your car purchase? I guess every Escalade should be sold with 22" Diamond Wheels?... As to the backbored Benellis, you let your slip show there, I wouldn't hunt within gun range of you... mudhen - CA
-
I guess giving them different names was insufficient? Tucker is exactly correct. Lack of homework. No big deal, but we are talking about guns here. If I can shoot .38 in a .357, I can shoot .357 in a .38, right? .45 ACP and .45 LC are both .45, so they should interchange, right? Let's blame someone else... Reminds me of the dolts that buy Beretta Optima Plus guns and think that Crio Plus chokes are the same. Optima Plus guns are back-bored, Crio Plus guns are not, so how can the chokes shoot the same in both guns? mudhen - CA

Don't buy one. They are too expensive - all other brands are cheaper and work better - Benelli should pay you to own their products, the safety is too loud, camo chips off, they don't cycle, the trigger is not adjustable, new barrels are not free, the don't have every part available at your every whim, they do not offer 24 hour customer service, etc. Now, if you can live with all of the above, I guess the SBE II is an ok gun... mudhen - CA
