  1. What gives you the right to tell me that I don't have the right to express my opinion to anyone here on this blessed forum that is supposedly so wide open to the free expression of anyone's particular opinion? Maybe you can cut and paste someone else's ideas again and explain this to me... It's just the internet people... mudhen - CA
  2. 1. You are incorrect. Benellis are invoiced at the time of shipment to the dealers and belong to the dealer upon receipt. Any dealer that cannot turn his Benelli inventory in an economic manner should not be a Benelli dealer. The 'rack' at my local Benelli dealer turns briskly. Several other local Benelli dealers are top dealers in the nation. Given the overall economic situation in your state, I am not surprised Benellis don't sell that well. I have many friends in Georgia, and most are perfectly happy with their Mossbergs and Remingtons. Nothing wrong with that. Yes, anyone who comes here to troll with posts about not finding what they want is a whiner. You are the poster child and continue to earn that title with every tap of the keyboard. Same for the guy that wanted a slug barrel for his Cordoba. Benelli is a dealer based operation. If you cannot accept that, don't buy a Benelli. 2. Benelli barrels can be found by anyone with a modicum of effort. Your resistance to the suggestions made by others clearly reveals your hidden agenda to disparage the Benelli name. It is likely that you are an employee of a competitior to Benelli or an employee of some establishment that has crossed paths with Benelli in some negative manner. 3. Better to produce a quality product and have a few service shortcomings than to produce a poor quality product. Mossberg can replace all the guns they want, but that is no substitute for quality. As to the frantic masturbation part, you must have too much free time on your 'hands' there in Georgia. Additionally, that just sounds creepy (in a Deliverance sort of way) coming from a presumably grown man from Georgia. You may want to work on your social skills when you are attempting to maintain a logical, albeit lively, discussion. I am merely providing sales facts. If you cannot handle that, I suggest you take your trolling drivel elsewhere... mudhen - CA

  4. Given that Benelli sells every gun they make as fast as they can get them to market, I doubt their marketing plan is short sighted Again, few seem to realize just what a small fraction of overall sales replacement barrels account for, it's almost nil. Sure some true sportspeople want extra barrels, and Benelli's plan is not overly helpful to those die-hard shooters, but the vast majority of folks are satisfied with the original barrel. The true die-hard will just do his own homework and find a barrel on his own instead of whining on some internet forum that has no connection to Benelli's customer service and/or dealers. It's not supply and demand with Benellis, it's demand, demand, demand..... mudhen - CA
  5. I have never been able to easily find barrels for any of my Berettas, Brownings, or Benellis. The simple fact is the barrel sales are a slight fraction of overall gun sales. At the same time, every time I have really wanted an extra barrel for any gun, I have been able to locate one. Before the internet, I used Shotgun News, plenty of barrels there, still are. I think what folks really want is cheap barrels. mudhen - CA

    OVERBORED / BACKBORED

No offense, but I'd trust the engineers at Browning, Beretta, and Winchester before I'd trust an internet wizard Overboring can produce excellent patterns. It works fine. No loss of fps. Indeed, I get more of a blown pattern from the underbored Benellis. I can easily fine tune this underbore with the correct choke & load combination though. Benellis are much more durable tools, but overbored guns pattern better, much better. I would read up at the gun makers websites for more info. mudhen - CA

    Quality ammo

Federal has always worked flawlessly for me, but I've only run about 20,000 rounds of Federal through my SBE, so that is not really much of a history. No problem with Remington either, but I'm not hearing anything good about the new cheap steel. No problems with Win HV steel either, just the price $$. I've had nothing but problems with anything from Kent, steel or TM. I've seen 20-25 Kent misfires just in the last few months. Hard primers is the #1 cause of the ftfs that I have seen. Expanding hulls are another infamous Kent issue. I won't shoot any of the true crap shells like Estate, etc. Don't care who makes the cheap shells, just don't want to shoot them. Shoot them if YOU want to though... mudhen - CA

    cycle times

I love this issue Plain and simple, the SX2's best rate is .102, and someone is working on .099. The generally accepted best rate before a Benelli malfunctions is .13. Any faster and the hammer is following the bolt and cannot strike the firing pin. Some say the key to the Benelli being better is that the inertia system tends to reduce muzzle lift and therefore allow the shooter to remain on target without having to realign after each shot. From my experience with Benellis, that is a completely accurate statement. No gun I have ever owned is as smooth and level as a Benelli. A Benelli will always be my primary hunting tool for that reason. However, a well balanced gas gun can achieve the same results. Anyone shooting the Xtrema or Xtrema II can tell you the gun is heavy enough to maintain a fairly smooth swing, especially with the longer barrels. Winchester's new SX3 gas guns have been modified to reduce lift - I'll find out in March when my SX3 arrives! Another benefit to gas guns like the SX2/3, Golds, and many Berettas is that they are backbored and/or overbored. Many non-toxic shots and larger sized shots pattern better in a larger bore. Gas guns also offer benefits to those with medical problems as they tend to offer less recoil. And the comments about gas guns malfunctioning in the duck blind are lame. I've gone 1000's of rounds in gas guns with no need to break a gun down in the duck blind and clean the gas ports Yes, everyone should own a Benelli, several at that, but don't let anyone fool you into thinking there are not some super gas guns out there. mudhen - CA
  9. Just 7 5/8" plucked. I need at least an 8 5/8" to tie or win our local contest. I've got an 8 1/8" entered already. I need to start picking out the really big bulls in the courtship flights, even though they don't eat as well... mudhen - CA
  10. I think you made a very good choice, especially with the new prefit X-Coil. The SBE I is certainly holding it's own with many actually preferring it. It will be a real workhorse for you I think... mudhen - CA
  11. Not much around today. Hunted for an hour before going to work. I've owned 10-12 Benellis since buying this first one, but man I have many great memories of the damage this one has done over the years. Ducks, geese, pheasants, quail, grouse, hogs, deer, turks, etc... mudhen - CA

    forarm on sbe11

Here you go: Washers go in from left to right. Flat washer, spring washer, another flat washer, and the retaining washer. Without them, the forearm will wiggle a bit. Good luck! mudhen - CA
  13. Not yet that I know of. I heard somewhere that there was an aftermarket prefit pad for the Nova/SBEII/M2 series, but I have not seen it yet. I would think it would take some serious cash to make a prefit pad injection mold to make prefit pads that fits the new stocks, but maybe someone thinks there is a huge market for prefit SBE II pads? mudhen - CA
  14. Yeah, I also ordered an Xtrema II yesterday. I like Beretta gas guns, but not nearly as much as Browning gas guns. To me, Brownings are smaller, lighter, thinner, and much, much, easier to clean and maintain. The first Xtrema is like a 2x4! The Xtrema II is a little better. mudhen - CA
  15. X-Coil has been a cut to fit hassle up until now. I hate grinding pads and gunsmiths charge $$$. Smart of X-Coil to offer some prefits - it will hit LS in the pocket book because the experts really prefer the X-Coil over the LS. Good luck! mudhen - CA
  16. Tough words from yet another internet tough guy... mudhen - CA [ 01-04-2006, 12:01 PM: Message edited by: mudhen ]
  17. No, the CT pad does not fit the SBE I. I'm sure the LS pad is nice, but X-Coil has a new prefit for the SBE that is supposed to be much better. mudhen - CA
  18. I shoot many Benelli's, but Browning Golds are my favorite gas guns. Just ordered a new Winchester SX3 today. mudhen - CA

    SBEII Assembly

I pick at camo film all the time as it flakes off or accumulates in the grime. I can't believe it took several duck hunters to assemble a firearm. LOL mudhen - CA
  21. That's about 1/3 what I normally use. We get so many species of ducks & geese, you need many calls. I use at least 2 speck calls, 1 snow call, 1 cackler call, 1 honker call, plus all sorts of calls & whistles for sprig, teal, widgeon, gadwall, mallets, etc. Even with all the rain, we are still getting a few birds. mudhen - CA

    SBEII Assembly

Some extra film is fairly normal on all dipped guns. I've had to pick at all my dipped guns to clean up film. I would never buy a brand new gun on a hunting trip unless my current gun broke on that trip. I would not want to be in a duck blind with someone who is firing his or her new gun for the first time mudhen - CA

Benelli bolts do not lock to the rear unless the silver latch is depressed. That is by design. mudhen - CA
  24. No, I think now you may be right. It's the Sport II that has the Beretta style pad. The SS pad should just twist off as you decribed. mudhen - CA
  25. Been mixing shells for 15 years with no jams related to the mixed shells. The bolt just did not close on this occasion... mudhen - CA
