They are not the same choke system. The Nova is Mobil choke, the SBE II is Crio Plus. mudhen - CA

Recoil Pad on a M2 Tactical can it be done and what type?
mudhen replied to M2 Tactical's topic in Benelli
??? From the photos in the catalog and website, it appears to come with a Gel Pad or the Nova recoil pad, depending in the stock configuration. Are you asking about removing the factory pad and installing an aftermarket pad? Golden Bear knows of some aftermarket plate that allows for any pad to be installed. I guess a slip on pad might work as well. mudhen - CA -
No. Yes. So you don't accidentally depress and activate the magazine cut-off. mudhen - CA

The bolt handle is secured by a pin & spring that are pinned into the bolt. They are tight at first. I usually just armstrong it, but sometimes I use a needlenose pliers to lever it out. Some use the shoelace trick. Search here, it's been addressed many, many, times..... mudhen - CA

El bolto no closo.... Does it release a shell from the mag when this happens? Seems to happen with light loads more than magnum loads. Clean the chamber mouth area, hold the gun firm, follow break in instructions, etc. It happens to me sometimes, maybe every 4-5 years or so.... mudhen - CA

Pull harder.... Try a shoelace..... I use pliers, scuffs be ****ed... mudhen - CA

The only other prefit pad is the 14" lop from Benelli. Anything shorter will have to be aftermarket and may involve the cutting of your Comfortech stock and/or adding of plates as Golden Bear mentions. I found the 14" lop to be pretty darn short - almost too short! GB - like I said I bet that is a great system for many guns - it just kinda defeats the purpose of a pull-off pad, i.e. drainage, easy access to stock nut to make quick cast and/or drop changes, etc. Benelli intentionally changed the design of the recoil tube to allow drainage into the stock hollow and subsequent removal of water by removing the pull-off pad. The recoil tube drains much better now. Blocking it with a more permanent pad might trap more water and cause rust issues. The new recoil spring and tube are not stainless, just coated steel. IMVHO, I just think it imprudent to go against the manufacturer's intent in an area like this...... mudhen - CA

Most Benelli dealers are starting to get their recoil pads & high combs. My dealer has all in stock now. Ask your dealer to order you one. GB must have stock in APT - he spams it every chance he gets! (I'm not slamming you GB - but that's about the 100th time you have mentioned that pad - silly to add to a SBE II that comes with a cast & drop kit - prolly great for other guns though) I think Tucker knows of many on-line sources - perhaps he will chime in ? mudhen - CA

That is great! Very odd that there is not some sort of Press Release. Doesn't the automotive industry use some sort of Technical Bulletin? I recall getting these in the mail with a reference # - all you do it make a service appointment and give them the # and they do the repair - no big deal, it gets fixed. Benelli could be letting CS handle it though - that is pretty normal for gun mf's. Hope the gun works well! mudhen - CA

Donnie says 26"..... I've been shooting 26" Benellis for many years with no ill effect. But 28" is fine too. mudhen - CA

You didn't read closely - I was merely commenting that your barrel was marked 'Low Recoil' and you bought it anyway. You may not have bought what you wanted or what you thought it was - but that is a different issue. Benelli's current large catalog does say "light tactical loads" on page 31, but the website makes no mention of it! The M2 is new - give it time - my GS's are backordered 20-30 deep on tactical M2's - they eventually will be much easier to get than the M4 ever was and they are without the legality issues. I'd glad Benelli is retrofitting the gun for you - hope it works well. mudhen - CA

So, if I bought a used gun that said 2.75" shells only on the barrel, I can sue the gun maker because the gun won't accept 3.5" shells I know you are upset, but you bought a used gun without knowing the specs of that gun Kinda sucks, but I don't know what to tell you; caveat emptor Safety and/or usage warnings permanently imprinted on barrels are generally acceptable methods of communicating a particular firearm's limitations and/or requirements. If the firearm is not defective, traditional theories of negligence will apply. Then all the traditional defenses like misuse, contributory or comparative fault, adequate or inadequate warnings, etc. may apply. The great thing about law is that anyone can get a law degree and pass the bar, this is 'Merica Start a dialogue with Benelli's CS and I bet it gets resolved.... mudhen - CA [ 08-30-2005, 01:07 PM: Message edited by: mudhen ]

I'm not overly impressed with the I-12 so far. I assembled 2 the other day and both had issues. Both had poorly installed beads, and both stocks were ugly and gray. A quick blast of CLP made the stocks black for now, but I wasn't impressed. I'm guessing the I-12 will take lots of breaking in and some fine tuning. After that, they should work fine. The I-12 comes with plain old Mobil chokes. I'll stick with Benelli thanks.... mudhen - CA

You did. They apparently shatter like cheap window glass with heavy recoil loads. Sell it to someone who wants it - many, many, do - and buy an M2 for varmints. mudhen - CA

I have not heard of a factory condition Benelli with speed load. mudhen - CA

Certain 3.5" shells are really top notch performers. So are certain 3" shells. Ditto for certain 2.75". For 'gooblers', I really like to send all the Winchester Extended Range #6's I can flying towards the tom's noggin. 3.5" simply holds more of the precious shot. Steel shot & the 3.5" is a bit more complex. The old, slow 3.5" steel was nothing special. But as they began to understand that speed & shock is what matters when using steel, the 3.5" became a useful tool for delivering more shot and/or larger pellets for more knockdown power. For the average joe, 3.5" is prolly not necessary. But as one gets more advanced, the 3.5" can really change the way a person hunts. I do use 3.5" steel in BB's. It works well in the wind and on medium geese at somewhat longer ranges. But I only use fast steel like Federal Ultra Speed Shok and other fast shells. mudhen - CA

Hey Snipe1, your name fits your style! I too like the Xtrema II, it seems like Beretta fixed the many, many, problems with the Xtrema I. I love the Tenkys too and will own one shortly. You want to talk about barrel bending? How about the 1000's of bad Xtrema I barrels????? The rest of your Benelli info is pretty much bogus. Beretta Holdings bought Stoeger because it was cheaper to buy them than to allow Stoeger to steal market share from Benelli with the launch of the M2000. There was a 2-page article in the NRA mags about that deal. Their lawyers made that deal. Benelli kills Beretta in guns sales, just kills. That comes from every Beretta and Benelli rep I have spoken with in the past several years. Beretta Holdings already controlled much of Benelli prior to the complete acquisition, so the total acquisition was business as usual. I don't notice any recoil issues with the SBE II. I sit back to a tree most of the time. I went 8 for 8 this year on toms with no recoil issue. My 3.5" BGH & 3" BGH kick waaaaaay more than any Benelli I have ever owned and waaaaaaaaaaaay more than my SBE II. The SBE II has a full drop and cast kit that should eliminate any POI issues. But I do really like the newer Beretta offerings. mudhen - CA
