  1. Zzzzzzz...yawn......the Cordova is a black dove gun, no more, no less....neat gun, shot one last week, nice....but no nicer than any other Benelli I've owned and/or shot.... "The new Cordoba is a crossover shotgun that’s fast in the field and at home on a sporting clays range" "Inspired by the high volume dove shooting found around Cordoba, Argentina, Benelli engineers designed the Cordoba as a lighting fast hunting gun with all the advanced features of a serious sporting clays shotgun." "Incorporated into the new Cordoba is the 10mm sporting rib favored by competition shooters and porting to keep barrel climb to a minimum." "The ComforTec stock cushions the blow when ammo isn’t measured in boxes but cases in an afternoon." Bring on more "pen-raised" questions..... It's your cabbage, sell yourself on whatever fits you best..... Bye freak.... mudhen - CA
  2. I don't. I prefer the one group over the others. an all around shotgun such as the sport II, SS and cordoba should indeed have a rifled slug barrel option. barrels seem to be the only thing preventing those as one for all shotguns. for instance I would "like" to think of the sport II as an excellent "if you're only going to own one shotgun, this is an excellent choice", but to do this a couple shorter (and for some, longer) barrels along with rifled slug would be necessary. (24-26" barrels would be nice for upland game) if benelli decides not to provide the option hopefully somebody else will. I do. The SII & SS are not marketed as all around shotguns. They give the Cordoba a marginal endorsement as an all around gun. All three guns are ported, and that makes them terrible duck blind mates. But while we are at it, I'd like to see the SS/SII in Max4 camo, or maybe a home defense SS, how about a SII with a pistol grip?, I'd like a Cordoba with a 24" barrel for turkeys..... I'd like the R1 to be available in every caliber ever made. I think all Benellis should be available in all gauges; .410, 28, 20, 16, 12, 10, and even 8 just for fun. Have fun, I think you are a troll anyway...... mudhen - CA
  3. I've been buying parts for my 1991 SBE from www.brownells.com since 1992. mudhen - CA
  4. How many would they sell?........ I think the Nova/M2/M1/SBE/SBE II in slug is sufficient..... mudhen - CA
  5. Some chokes can handle that. Terror claims .655 is fine for all steel from BB on down. I think barrel bulge is the only issue. mudhen - CA
  6. 4 days is nuttin' in the middle of duck season - get ready for some real disappointment if you are not ready to accept reality.... mudhen - CA
  7. I don't think the SS's carbon fiber film is a good fit in the duck blind. I'd go with the Cordoba or SII. mudhen - CA
  8. This was after 10 years of hard hunting and very frequent cleaning. mudhen - CA
  9. Maybe bad mag caps? My new one from Brownells shows no signs of wear. I'll post photos of the old cap tomorrow. mudhen - CA
  10. Hope it all goes well Tucker. I'll pray to the duck gods for you so you can recover quickly and shoot more mallets! mudhen - CA
  11. Last season's Benelli hunting photos were great, lets keep it going this season! Given that this Benelli's website, I'd like to see a Benelli product in the photos. Opening day in Cali: mudhen - CA
  12. No. My SBE's & SBE II eject all shells just fine. I suspect it's your shells. What brand are you shooting? I've seen Kents, Estates, Remingtons, and some Federals that do not eject well due to sloppy manufacturing. The problem seems greater in 3.5" shells. Are the empties hard to remove manually? Maybe the shells are over-expanding in the crimp area? Clean the gun well - lightly oil, look around for grit and/or grime that may be gumming something up. mudhen - CA
  13. Well known flaw for certain model years. Many, many, reported incidents from older SBE's. My 1991 SBE broke a barrel ring (the ring base cracked in half) in 2000. Sent the entire gun back to Benelli and they attached a new ring (not a new barrel), reblued, reworked the ejector assembly, put in a new locking head pin, all in 27 days including the shipping time. My questions: How old are these SBE's? I recall most, if not all, the ring breaks are on HK SBE's 1991-1996. The barrel that broke this time was the original barrel from the SBE that you also bought a slug barrel for, right? If so, you should have no problem getting a new barrel from Benelli. They may want that ring base for their files. I know that a worn mag cap contributed to my ring crack. I had worn the nubs almost smooth from daily cleaning after shooting 20,000 rounds over those 10 seasons. I would find myself tightening the cap several times per hunt. I bought a new mag cap from Brownells and have not had to tighten it once in the field. I think you will have no problem getting a new barrel. Good luck! mudhen - CA
  14. Maybe Wolffe springs? (sp?) mudhen - CA
  15. Again, other than at the top of your head, your point would be? mudhen - CA
  16. Never heard of a Monte 20 giving anyone any problems. I know guys that have put upwards of 100,000 rounds through their Monte 20's with no major problems. Sorry you are having problems with the normally reliable gun. Send it back to Benelli for inspection - something is likely broken. mudhen - CA
  17. And your point would be? mudhen - CA
  18. My dealer has 10 'new' Montes - new trigger guards - new markings. All ten are Mobil chokes. I told him he got ripped off and they should be Crio Plus. He is going to contact Benelli..... mudhen - CA

    Gun Replacement

No problems in my 16th season of shooting Benelli SBE's and M1's. Your gun is not broken in. I broke my new SBE II in with 125+ 3.5" turkey loads. It cycles everything from the lightest trap loads to the heaviest turkey loads. I can make my SBE's jam by shooting straight up and holding the gun loosely. Add in a slight lean back on a passing bird, and it happens more often. It's tough to hold the gun firmly while trying this shot and often I end up letting go of the forearm somewhat. Kent steel sucks in all my Benellis. Kent Matrix works great. Go figger..... Shoot more shells, hold the gun firmly, etc. You don't use WD40 do you? Or any other crap that might gum up the recoil tube? Good luck! mudhen - CA

    sluggish M2

Clean the recoil assembly. It comes apart nice now. Are you using WD-40 or something else that has gummed up the recoil assembly? mudhen - CA
  21. I would guess the gun is not cleaned right or oiled right or just a bit new and needs some breaking in. All of my Benellis will not load if the bolt is not closed all the way. Some of my Benellis have taken some break in time to lock up all the way. I always check the chamber mouth areas to make sure the lock up area is clean, smooth, and just a bit oily. I may recall some dipped guns needing a little scraping or cleaning in that area. Shame on you for not shooting the gun - most modern semis need some break in time...... mudhen - CA

    SBE II Finish

That must be an odd finish.... mudhen - CA [ 10-12-2005, 12:03 PM: Message edited by: mudhen ]

  24. Yes. mudhen - CA
  25. Did you buy it disassembled like that? Or, did you take it apart all by yourself? mudhen - CA
