You mean we have to turn muslims on to whiskey and let them open up a bunch of casinos?
-
I called Kick's and asked. They said it's okay to shoot XR through their chokes but not hevi-shot or steel. They suggest #6 through a .660.

This version is a litlle funnier. Wait, I know what you're saying...what could be funnier than some limp-wristed anti-hunting tree-hugging hippie phony getting eaten alive by the bears he was "protecting"? http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5903516284967348088&q=grizzly+bear+man

I just sent back a Rhino .673 in exchange for a .660 SBE1. I wish I would have known Rhino Joe was going to be at the NWTF convention...it would have saved me a week and $20 in S&H. All of my chokes are dead on for point of aim. My Rhino was 6-8 inches to the right at 30-40 yards. Rhino swears it's my gun. Is this common for one choke to be this far off while the others on the money? The pattern was nice and round, but too open with the Win XRs & HVs.

I don't know. I snagged mine at the NWTF convention. I scanned the pages for the Ultra Light and SuperNova. Who ever wants them can PM me for an email. I tried to post them but I don't have enough web space. [ 02-26-2006, 09:01 PM: Message edited by: 69beers ]

I have the 2006 catalog here in front of me. What do you want scanned?
-
I picked one up today at the NWTF convention. Ditto on the SuperNova.

Wouldn't that be sweet if Manties got together with Under Armour and made some camo Loose Gear Fancy Hi-cuts?
-
Anyone tried these yet? If so, what were the results and what choke did you use?

Quoting soldier from Delta Force in Blackhawk Down as he holds up and wiggles his trigger finger -- "Sir, this is MY safety." I can only cluck and purr on a mouth diaphragm so I use friction calls most of the time, which means my hands are off the gun. With the stock on my shoulder and the for-end rested on my knee, as I move my hands back to the gun I quietly take off my safety and put my gun up into firing potion. This usually means taking the safety off WAY earlier than most. I keep my finger outside of the trigger guard until it is time to shoot. But the idea of a cluck (or grunt for deer) seems like less movement and I may have to try that one out.

I think about the only way you will damage your slug barrel would be by pounding in railroad spikes with it. Shooting lead slugs without a sabot jacket might make it harder to clean, but won't hurt it. Sabot slugs are encased in a plastic jacket and will, after time, leave a plastic deposit on the barrel easily removed with a good bore cleaner. Lightfield Hybrids shot the best out of mine, but only with zero wind so I don't hunt with them. Any wind at all and they were all over the paper. Platinum Tips are very accurate, much less susceptible to wind drift, and expand very well while maintaining most of their weight. If you do a search I posted pics of one I pulled from a deer last year. Partition Golds are a close second to Platinums. They will get you closer to 200 yards but usually don't expand as well as the Platinums. All I've had them do is zip right through leaving a 50 cal hole on both sides. Many of us here use Platinum Tips. I couldn't hit the paper at 50 yards with the Core-Lokts, but my Dad's Ithaca 37 puts them through the same hole. Copper Solids were marginal in mine and awesome in his as well. Every gun is different. You may be able to save money by finding a cheap slug of the same weight and velocity to get your barrel close, then zero it in with your chosen hunting slug. Your barrel will hold its zero as long as the sights or scope aren't knocked around and moved.

How are the waterfowl (LTM or MOD) chokes? Has anyone fired HEVI-SHOT Dead Coyote out of a Rhino .673 or another brand with a similar constriction by chance? I figured if I'm buying one for turkey then I might as well get it over with and buy three for everything else.

Haven't shot it through a rifled barrel myself, but heard you should duck when you fire it sprays so bad.

Same round, they just added the word elite to the box and $5 to the price. [ 02-04-2006, 12:58 AM: Message edited by: 69beers ]

I asked a game warden about that. He asked if my gun could be fired in the configuration required to remove the plug. I told him it would fly apart and probably kill me. He said that would be considered disassembled. But again, that was at a hunting expo and not in court.

A Steelers fan from Ohio? Blasphemy!!!!!!!
-
I don't know. Maybe all the good turkey hunters from the 101st were deployed.
-
Yeah, they did the $5 increase overnight here too. I'm leaning towards a demand driven price increase. Maybe if we all start saying how bad they suck the price will go down!?! Assuming I get drawn for all my hunts, and kill with one shot, all I need is one box this year. Which is good since I can barely find them and they are 3X the price as HVs. The way I have it worked out is: 4 shells for Ft Campbell, 1 shell for Ft Knox, 2 shells KY, 2 shells OH, 1 shell PA. And then when I don't get drawn for Campbell or Knox I can actually pattern them before my real hunts! And then when I don't fill my tags I will have enough for the fall...and then probably next spring!

I'm assuming the ammunition line will still carry on?
-
That shine, it's.......it's glorious!!
-
I called and asked (actually got a human). They are the same, no crio.
-
Actually you probably could do it......once.

Here's some profound advice: Don't expect a shred of respect when your second post on this site is some half-*** snide remark to a 13yo. It sounds like the gun handles the shells just fine. Get one that fits and grip it like a man.
