Bumps and BTT's are dumb. That's all. Either the conversation is alive or it isn't. Putting a dead one on top is pushing something that has more interest off the bottom. Nothing personal. I'm sure you're a nice enough gal.

Glad to hear it! Hopefully, the replacement will have a better finish on it.

Just purchased SBE II - What's the best turkey choke tube?
tucker301 replied to MO_triple_beard's topic in Benelli
The tube does not have to be crio treated. Many references call the new Benelli chokes the crio chokes to differentiate them from the older style. It has to be the crio style, but not the crio type. -
It's great at displacing moisture, and could be used to "dry out" a soaked weapon. It leaves a residue that attracts dirt like nothing I've ever seen. It's better than nothing, but it's nowhere near as good as many of the products made specifically for firearms care. Breakfree CLP, Hoppes Elite, etc. are much better choices, and they won't attract dirt and grime the way WD-40 does.

.700 is going to be really close to Improved Modified. 12 ga. = .729 Imp Mod. is .030 constriction .729 - .030 = .699 [ 10-23-2006, 07:38 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

Mike, You would have been much better off posting to a new thread, rather than taking onto the end of this fray. Your rifle is still under warranty and you should call, not e-mail, Benelli regarding the problems you're having. When you cleaned the rifle, did you fully disassemble the gas piston assembly and thoroughly clean the gas ports? Also check the recoil spring assembly for corrosion and dirt. I'd fully disassemble the rifle and give it a complete cleaning before passing judgement. What kinds of solvents and lubes are you using, and to what degree (quantities)?

Paging skidaho.....

They're not the greatest with e-mails. They're right there in MD. Best to give them a call in the AM. They're going to want to see it.

If you can get just the decoy tube, yes. But I've only seen them as the two tube sets.

As for the why, I already told you

The length of the shot string can actually be to your advantage. Tom Knapp can explain it better than I can. Listen to what he says at the end of this video clip. A tightly bunched shot cluster must be delivered on target more accurately and leaves less room for error than does a strung-out load. The Primos Pass choke tube (part of the Dead Zone set) does delay the cup similarly to the Patternmaster. I simply got better results in the field with the Primos chokes.

For reliability and performance, the M2 and SBEII are pretty much even. A few differences are pointed out here. http://www.benelliusa.com/forums/ultimatebb.php/topic/1/1657.html#000000 I give the advantage to the SBEII for the ease of disassembly and cleaning. You can see how easy it is to clean by viewing the guide I made a few weeks ago. http://www.benelliusa.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/1/3550.html? As for barrel length, I'd suggest the 26". There is no reall advantage to having the 28" barrel in modern firearms, other than a slightly longer sighting plane. Remember, the Semi-auto with a 26" barrel offers as much sighting rib as an O/U with a 30" barrel, because of the longer receiver. As for your shoulder, you can shoot whatever you can tolerate. If you can stand one stout thump from a 3.5" turkey load, then go with the 3.5's on turkeys, where a single shot is the norm. If you're shooting doves, most Inertia guns will cycle light field loads all day long without a hitch, after they're broken in. For upland birds like pheasant and grouse, stick with the heavy field loads and wear a padded shoulder coat or vest. As for finishes, the camos will chip and peel, but are generally easier to maintain. The matte black wears well with proper care, but it will rust in a hurry if you don't use the right stuff or are a little lazy about cleaning and lubing.

It is indeed a film finish, similar to the camo finishes, and not real carbon fiber. I think Benelli could or should do a better job of disclosing that information up front, as you're not the first disillusioned buyer. As I see it, you have two options. 1. Contact CS and complain about the delicate nature of the finish. Be respectful, but firm. Hopefully, they'll do something for you. 2. Try to touch it up using markers. I suppose you could spray on some sort of clearcoat protective finish to try and give it more durability.

My bad. I thought I read a post on here the other day where someone stated that it did. I don't have one, so I should've done the research before posting.

I tried the Patternmaster before I went to the Dead Zone set. Sold the Patternmaster on ebay.
-
Hoppes Elite is essentiall the same stuff and is available at most Sporting Goods and Wal-Mart.
-
I think he meant, do you have a specific question about the gun?
-
M2 has the crio tubes and barrel. M2 has the shorter foreamr with the recoil assembly in the stock like the SBEII. Montefeltro has the longer forearm with the recoil spring under the forearm. To be honest, I'd buy the Legacy. It's made the most like the SBEII and would be the easiest to maintain and clean.

Primos Dead Zone set. Two chokes. D - Decoy P - Pass

ABSOLUTELY! Set about 6 mallards 25 yards downwind of the goose dekes and set the Mojo at the low end (downwind) of the mallards. It works better if you have the remote or the cycle timer. When the geese turn away, toggle it off, when they hit the corner coming back around, flip it back on. Toggle on-off until they're about 100 yards out, then leave it on and grab your gun! Check local laws to make sure it's OK to put out dekes for species that may not be in season. CO's should not give you a problem with it, but better safe than sorry. The coldest it's been since I installed mine was about 50 degrees F. Sorry, can't answer the question.
