  1. While there are no official fourms for Beretta, there are unofficial ones. Shotgunworld has one such forum. IMHO, manufacturers who do not host their own moderated forums miss a tremendous opportunity to tap into their customers' knowledge and experiences. How great could it be to have field testers and an R&D Dept. numbering in the thousands! I've been here long enough to see that these foums offer Benelli a wealth of useful information and that users' feedback and ideas have affected positive changes.
  2. It was WET today. It was so wet, my socks even got damp.... and they were in my sock drawer at home But it was a decent day, nonetheless.
  3. Use IC and shoot slugs designed for smoothbores. or buy a rifled choke tube.
  4. Positioning the plug on top of the retaining ring may put you into a grey area with regard to federal regulations for migratory fowl. "Shotguns not larger than 10 gauge, fired from the shoulder, and incapable of holding more than 3 shells (shotguns capable of holding more than 3 shells must be plugged with a one-piece filler which is incapable of removal without disassembling the gun , so the gun's total capacity does not exceed 3 shells). I know that one could argue that removing the forearm cap could be considered as disassembling the gun. Sounds like a valid argument on the Internet. I don't know how it would hold up in Federal court, and I wouldn't care to find out.
  5. Well, it ain't like they've got a hometown team to root for, is it? [ 02-02-2006, 10:50 AM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]
  6. I haven't installed a kit, but I have reversed a Nova safety. On a difficulty scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 7. The design is kind of like an inverted Remington. Remington places the spring and detent on top of the crossbolt. Benelli puts it on the bottom. This makes it pretty tricky business depressing the spring so the detent will release enough to allow the crossbolt to slide out. I used a very thin, small flatblade screw driver to get in there. I'm sure Benelli gunsmiths must have a better way. If only there were one on this forum
  7. Is this the part we're supposed to get used to? The weapon is designed to use the kinetic energy (inertia) generated from the discharge of a properly shouldered shotgun.
  8. He and I have have been buddies for the last 30 years. Needles to say, those years have had their share of foolery. I propped up a dead groundhog with a stick one day, and then laughed myself to tears as he fired three rounds into it before figuring out something was wrong
  9. Rhino
  10. Wow! Somebody OWES Russ F. bigtime
  11. Could someone post a link to the full text of 922®? I'd love to waste an afternoon.
  12. Most folks like Surefire.
  13. Just to clarify what 300lb shark wrote; 'round here, "dolphin" refers to a gamefish also known as mahi mahi & dorado. It ain't Flipper. [ 01-30-2006, 05:51 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]
  14. I disregarded everything after the first post, given the source of the response. However, since the issue has been raised. Yes, it's legal to use any choke for any game. Restrictions are mechanical, not statutory.
  15. Given the fact that there are no shipping or transfer costs, I'd say it's a good deal. See if he still has the original spring and put that back in.
  16. I drop one directly into the chamber, then close the bolt and feed two more into the mag. Never had a problem.
  17. The chokes can be used with non-toxic shot such as Bismuth, Tungsten, Hevi-shot, but most people find that the patterns actually open up when using those shot types in tubes tighter than modified. One exception is the use non-toxic turkey loads through turkey chokes like the Rhino.
  18. After all of that effort towards packing the boat, we ended up not going goose hunting after all. Instead, we loaded up my buddy's ARGO and headed for the bowels of a massive swamp. I didn't miss the geese at all [ 01-28-2006, 08:58 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]
  19. The whitish headed one appeared to be some sort of a mixed breed. He was big, with a large head and more orange colored feet than a typical Canada.

  21. I bought black mainly because I was afraid I'd prop a camo gun against a tree and lose it
  22. Firstly, a rifle doesn't pattern, it groups. Secondly, if you're throwing them 12 inches apart, there is definitely a problem with the scope or the rifle. I suggest you have it checked by a competent gunsmith or knowledgable friend. No offense, but I can tell by your post that you are green as grass when it comes to mounting scopes, shooting rifles, and the like.
  23. I caught a citation blue marlin my first time offshore. Been hooked ever since (pun intended) A good trip can stock the freezer in a hurry, with yellowfins coming anywhere from 30 to 80 lbs. Sometimes, you get lucky and snag a 200 lb. yellowfin, but by the time he's boated, you'll wonder if it was good luck or bad.
  24. They've been doing great for me.
  25. Marginally, camo finishes may help to mask subtle movements that might otherwise be detected in solid colors and shapes. I've hunted with glossy, shiny Remingtons and have had game move within feet of me and they never knew I was there. I remained still and quiet.
