  1. The safety can be reversed and the cast can be changed. Tada! You for now to have handed of left shooting firearm gun.
  2. Your older shotgun was more than likely choked to some degree, but it was a fixed choke (made into the barrel). http://www.ssaa.org.au/stories/shotguns-a-beginners-guide-to-shotgun-chokes.html http://hunting.about.com/od/shotgun/l/aastshotgunfaqa.htm
  3. Disassembly separates the receiver from the barrel. As the two are put back together, it's nearly impossible to repeat the mechanical mating of the parts, the pressures, and the torques at which they were previously mated. That means that zero may and often change. It won't be way off, but it will change. 100 yards, you'll probably be fine, but at 300 you could easily make a bad shot or miss a deer-sized animal completely. If you can live with that inconvenience, the R1 is not a bad semi-automatic hunting rifle. There's no accuracy guarantee with the R1. Some shoot pretty darned well, while others are 2 or 3 MOA at best. Maybe it's the shooter. Maybe it's the crappy trigger. For less money, you can get the Browning BAR Shorttrac or Longtrac Stalker, which I consider a better all around gun. I have one. I loved my R1, but it was high maintenance and all I wanted was a decently accurate and reliable semi-auto deer rifle. For just a little bit more money than the R1, you can get the FN AR which is guaranteed to shoot 1 MOA or better from the factory. It's only available in 7.62 x 51 at this writing. The rifle is based on the Browning BAR action.
  4. That's a clever tip! Merry Christmas!
  5. Any sturdy round piece of proper lenght will work. Even a #2 pencil will do in a pinch. You can find some nice stainless or aluminum plugs on ebay.
  6. Home Depot - 3/8 wooden dowel cut to length.
  7. Penicillin
  8. M1014, If you make this deal, PLEASE buy a TV from this century
  9. Yessir. That's the one that almost got sent to the taxidermist.
  10. We have ringnecks in vast abundance here. We shoot them when nothing else is happening. I could take you to a spot any morning and you'd limit out or run of shells in the first hour. I shot into a flock the other day and knocked down two with one shot. Got a three for one water swat the day before.

  12. We went out for a quick hunt this AM. I hope Santa brings my buddy a decoy bag this year. That used feed bag kind of stands out.
  13. I like the Super Black Eagle II. It's not much better than the Xtrema2, but Extrema2 shooters are decidedly... how should I put this... ummmm... flamboyant. You know, decorating and such.
  14. It was about 16 degrees this morning with little wind, but I made the most of it. Gadwalls and a Greenhead!

    Benelli click

    The only fix is human.
  16. Yeah, contact Benelli CS and see if they're interested in seeing the barrel and testing it for R&D. Probably would have been better if you hadn't cut off the visible damage. If they don't want it, destroy it.
  17. The barrel should not be used again under any circumstances. There may now be weakened and stressed sections in the remaining piece. This can be a danger to the shooter and anyone around him. Bad ammo? Bad how? Did it get wet? Was it stored properly? How old was it? It doesn't necessarily have to be the manufacturer's fault, unless it's Fiocchi... then it's definitely their fault.
  18. Ha! Normally, I'd agree, but it darned sure froze this morning! I picked up decoys and they had 6" ice rings on them. I love it!

  20. I think they'll work with you on it. Since it's synthetic, there's no concern for matching woodgrain and tone. Unless it's a discontinued cam pattern, I'd expect you'll be getting a replacement pretty quickly. Give them a call in the AM. If you have any problems, send me a PM and I'll see if I can help in some way. Good luck and Merry Christmas!
  21. Wood or synthetic? Why not take it back to the dealer for exchange? There's no need to send the gun in. I had a similar situation with a R1 rifle a few years back. I called Benelli CS and explained that the stock had cracked, but that I wanted to finish deer season before I sent it in. They got a credit card number and sent me a new stock. When it arrived, I swapped it out and sent the original one in. Since I returned the broken stock in a timely manner, I was never charged anything on my card. Benelli has a great CS department. I can't promise they'll work you the same deal, but I can promise they'll do whatever they can to make you happy.

    New M2

You will find the M2 to be nearly as easy to maintain as the old pumper. Very few moving parts and no gas system with ports, pistons and o rings to become fouled. Although written for the SBEII, my cleaning guide is still fairly applicable to the M2 as well. http://www.farrarsodfarm.com/nelli/SBE_cleanup.pdf
  24. I usually keep no less than three pairs with me when cold weather waterfowling. The primary and backup pair will be Thinsulate & Goretex. I also keep a pair of long cuffed fleece lined neoprene gloves setting and picking up decoys - picking up ducks.
  25. Nice going! Buck or slickhead?
