The Maxus appears to be overly complex, but Browning does make a nice product usually.
-
The same recommended minimum load for the SBEII applies for the M2 as well. They're both Inertia guns and they're not made for girly loads at the trap range.
-
It's not really a problem.
-
The M2 is slightly lighter, so it will have slightly more recoil. Shotgunners aren't concerned with recoil. Are you a shotgunner?
-
I mean if you can afford the upgrade, buy the SBEII. If not, buy the M2.
-
Buy a keyboard with a working Shift key. With any leftover money, buy as much Benelli as you can. M2 LH or SBEII LH.
-
My SBEII safety is a large triangle in the shooter's side and a round button on the reverse side.

Breakfree CLP.

One more of the Scaup.

I find myself hunting the divers more this year. Here's today's sunrise on Gaston Lake and my first ever bluebill. He buzzed the decoys and made a loop behind the blind. Looped back around out front and slid to a stop just in front of the coot decoy in the sunrise picture.

Now at $400. There is something seriously wrong with you people.

I've said this many times on this and other sites, but I'll repeat it again. NEVER order a gun without a clear and concise understanding of a guaranteed ship date from the dealer. By understanding, I mean that if the gun isn't in by xx-xxxx, then the deposit is refunded in full or a new date is negotiated. Dealers have zero control over what's shipped when. The best way to buy a new gun is to find a dealer who has it in stock and either go get or buy it online. And last, but certainly not least, yes, Italians only work when they want to.

It's not just a big pile of ducks that makes a great hunt. Didn't get but one ringneck on this outing, but it was still way better than sleeping in!

Is upgrading from a SBE I to a SBE II worth it?

I wouldn't upgrade, but a new SBEII is always a good idea -
Well, he's bringing his POS M2000 to me to see if I can make it work right, so at least I have a chance to get even with him.

Reading back through this post, I realized that I didn't clearly explain how the tube was lost. It's an extended tube and it's normally installed by hand. I generally check the tube several times during a hunt. I had in fact checked it just about a half hour prior to the volley that scored a banded greenhead for my hunting buddy. When the volley was done, I reached back to the end of the barrel to check the tube again. It was gone. There was no evidence of thread damage to the barrel threads, so it must have come out on that set. I couldn't shoot anymore, since I didn't want to risk damaging the threads and I didn't bring a spare. Happy New Year to you too!

Is your receiver drilled and tapped? If so, then any Weaver 93A style mount will work with it. Most gun shops, MidwayUSA, Cabelas, etc.

Very nice job on the camera. Thanks for posting!

Benelli has done themselves somewhat of a disservice by over-promoting their recoil management systems, but that's marketing I suppose. The plain and simple fact is that recoil is a very simple matter of physics, and that weight and redirected gasses are the only proven ways in which actual recoil can be reduced before it reaches the butt end of the weapon. Pads reduce felt recoil or the perception of recoil by helping to amortize it over time and space, but it's still there. It has not been somehow magically removed. I agree that there are people who perhaps should not own or shoot shotguns, but the same can be said for drivers of automobiles and other consumer products in a free society. Look at automobile marketing. Do they advertise the realities of being stuck in bumper to bumper rush hour traffic or cruising along the beltway at a snail's pace? No, of course not. Instead, they show a man beating back the boredom of his existence by taming an otherwise empty winding mountain road, utilizing the car's massive horsepower and finely tuned suspension. All that said, I am still a bit bewildered by those who insist on buying the Benelli Inertia gun and ignoring the manufacturer's recommendations regarding minimum loads. They then complain because their high-priced shotgun won't function properly at the range with their dainty trap loads, as if it were designed to do so.
-
All Benelli sporting shotguns are lightweight, but a nice little 20 lefty would be fun. Unfortunately, market demand dictates what does and doesn't get made. As I'm sure you know, we southpaws are very much a minority.
-
You need to shoot paper, or at the very least, water. Rifles don't always shoot where the laser points, so a shotgun has little to no chance of being lined up properly with one. Shoot from a natural position - no benches - no aiming with one eye closed. The shotgun is made to point as an extension one's self. Without being properly setup for a natural point and shoot, it will never satisfy you.

OUCH! I've used a mercury reducer with Kent Fasteel and similar 3" loads with no problems. You'll not want to use it for dove loads, but for ducks and geese it should be fine. I'm wondering if you aren't getting a good fit against your shoulder, possibly due to your long arms? If the gun is firmly anchored to the shoulder, it should not move enough to bump your finger. Try to pay more attention to that tomorrow when shooting and see if it applies.
-
Hold the gun tighter! Mercury tubes can help. I suspect you're having problems because your hands are larger than those of the average Italian. Your common sense has you headed in the right direction. Adding some padding or anything to either the guard or the finger will soften the blow, but it also lessens even more the room between your hand and the guard. The limiter plug model or the magazine cap model will work. http://www.mercuryrecoil.com/

1. Gunbroker or Auction Arms. 2. Yes 3. Perhaps. Yes. 4. I'd expect similar results 4 (the second one) None. I use a black synthetic and have no problems with birds seeing it. Just be still, be quiet, and do what they say... to a point.
