Would you keep a M4 stock desert camo or ......
M4Madness replied to Gallo Pazzesco's topic in Benelli
Gunbroker seems to be swamped with the desert camo versions right now. I almost bought one last night, but didn't due to the fact that I'd be adding a telestock and full-length mag tube when 922® compliance parts are available -- and neither would match the camo finish. As for refinishing, if it is Duracoat, then I'd see no problem with adding a new pattern over the old one. It may need to be scuffed up first for the new coating to adhere better. I'd definitely send it to a professional as opposed to doing it myself. Duracoat is pretty durable stuff - the rifle I had done in it wasn't scratched any, even after carrying it in the deer woods for three seasons. I was told by a dealer last night that the finish on the desert camo Benelli M4's wore off easily. Any truth to that? -
I'm back after not being here for a couple of years. LOL! I have a couple of letters from the BATF regarding 922® compliance for the Benelli M4 shotgun, but they are old news now. The first one says that it consists of 11 parts, therefore only one part needs to be swapped. I put a US-made mag tube on the 11707 that I owned at that time, along with a telestock, only to have the BATF send me a second letter much later saying that they'd made a mistake, and that it had 13 parts. At that time, there weren't 3 US-made parts available, so I put it back in stock configuration, sold the shotgun, and then sold the stock for $75. Now here I am trying to get back in the game, and looking to buy what will be the third M4 I've owned (previously owned a M1014 and a 11707). EDIT: Well, after seeing that I had a pile of unread site messages (LOL!), it appears that I haven't been here since before the first one dated 04-14-2006! I doubt that any of the members who posted when I was here still post here.

I've got the same two firearms. I guess I should be looking for the same Pelican case.
-
You still banned? I pulled all the strings I could to get you back in, but there's nothing more I can do if you haven't heard anything.

No, just the deer gun.

First, you won't see any benefit from shooting sabot slugs from a smoothbore barrel. Second, I spent over $100 last fall testing various brands of sabot slugs from my fully-rifled Remington 870. The Hornady SST's had terrible 5-shot groupings at 100 yards -- 7" across!!! That was from sandbags and a bench rest! Remington 870 SPST 12-gauge with thumbhole stock Cantilever fully-rifled slug barrel Nikon 3-9X40 scope Solid shooting bench Two 25-pound sandbags - one front, one rear Test Method I fired 5-shot groups per brand, with about a minute between shots. Distance was a laser-measured 100 yards. Shotgun was allowed to cool while I changed targets. I ran a dry boresnake through the bore between different brands. All shots were extremely steady with no movement of the shotgun whatsoever during firing. Test Results: Hornady SST 5-shot: 7" ; 3-shot: 5 1/4" Winchester Platinum Tip 5-shot: 10 1/4" ; 3-shot: 6 3/4" Federal Vital-Shok 5-shot: 3 1/2" ; 3-shot: 1" Remington Copper Solid 5-shot: 3 3/4" ; 3-shot: 2 1/4" Winchester Partition Gold 5-shot: 9" ; 3-shot: 2" Remington Buckhammer 5-shot: 3 1/2" ; 3-shot: 1 1/8" [ 08-11-2006, 08:10 PM: Message edited by: M4Madness ]

What was it still doing on their shelf 3 1/2 years after it was made?
-
If it collapsed down, then someone had it machined to do so, as Benelli never shipped any of the 11701's with the working recoil tube.

I bet Benelli would have a fit if they knew. They're not even allowed to sell the +2 extensions to civilians anymore, let alone the full-length factory tubes. Benelli refused to sell me part #066J when I called them. But, on a happier note, I got around all that:
-
Benelli does not import the full-length tube models for anyone other than the military. Even LEO's have to use the +2 extension. And Benelli will not sell the full-length tube (#066J) here in the states. Believe me, I tried. Perhaps you are referring to getting two +2 magazine extensions installed?
-
It will come in the Benelli blister pack like the one shown in your photo. The ones in the links you posted are not factory extensions.

He said, "Don't grab my f***ing hand! Bend down and choke yourself!"

Cool photos of Gunny. I met R. Lee Ermey last October, and even shook his hand.

For the record, I'm pretty sure that it was Duggan who sold one on there recently for $510. [ 06-25-2006, 05:09 PM: Message edited by: M4Madness ]

Welcome to the M4 brotherhood.

Pelican Cases Just cut the foam yourself to fit.

Well, here's my match to jmikesteen's.

Mesa Tactical is getting ready to release a US-made 4-railed forearm very soon: F-CAM Granted, it won't be as cheap as the one you are talking about, Kendal.

Recognize the name?

Not out here in the country. I log on at 21K. They're claiming that they'll have DSL here later this year. Even with the terrible internet service, it sure beats living in town. I don't have to walk far to kill a big buck or a long-bearded turkey.

It took me 35 minutes to download, but it was well worth it to get it in PDF format. It sure beats the GIF format that I found above. Thanks! Now to continue my search for a hard copy...
-
Yeah, those people are lucky, as there aren't any more being made.
-
When I Google it, all I get are two PDF files that make references to TM 10698A-10/1, but not the TM itself.

TM 10698A-10/1 On the first page of the link above, just click the single arrow (>) at the top of the page to start scrolling through each individual page.

The M1014 (#11701) was the first version released to civilians. It was a limited edition run of 2500 shotguns, each denoted by a special serial number and an engraved American flag on the right side of the receiver. It has a fixed choke barrel and comes from the factory with a fake telescoping stock. The newest M4 (#11707) is identical to the earlier M1014, with a few exceptions: 1. The 11707 M4 barrels have the newest upgrades: screw-in chokes, the exterior flange where the barrel meets the receiver, and an added flange on the barrel extension. M4 Barrel Revisions There have always been rumors as to the M1014 having a thicker barrel. This could be proven/disproven rather quickly if someone would use a micrometer to measure both of them. 2. The 11707 M4 has the same recoil spring tube as the military version, which allows a telescoping stock to work correctly. 3. The 11707 M4 does not have the laser-engraved American flag or special serial number.
