    The Refuge

On a local forum, a guy told me that he waited a year! Seems sad that they are such slackers. It appears to be a decent resource.

I think... wait 8 years and then worry about it. There really needs to be an off-topic forum around here. This thread is an excellent example.

    The Refuge

We should start a support group or something.

    The Refuge

Well, at least it isn't just me. I'll give it a bit more time.
  5. Well, the DOW called yesterday to let us know that the pond we reserved had no water. All things considered, 3 good-sized mallards and a tiny teal were well worth the trip.

    The Refuge

I have been lurking around Duck Hunter's Refuge for some time now. I decided it was time to get signed up and participate in some of the forums. However, I have been in the moderator's cue for over a month now! Has anyone else had the same experience of being delayed? Thanks!
  7. That's a fantastic area. It's on my drive to home (I hail from SW Montana). There is a reservoir on the south, south-westish side of the road around that area, is that where you were doing your magic?
  8. Beautiful! Thanksgiving isn't going to be an empty table. Where were you at in Idaho?
  9. Colorado has been terribly warm also. We have been in the 70's up until this past week. Now we are finally down in the 30's and 40's. Also, it sounds like the geese are finally moving south. This Saturday should be a lot more productive.
  10. Seriously. One, your post makes little to no sense. Two, Benelli doesn't produce a 32" barrel for the Nova (nor does any aftermarket manufacturer of which I know). In general, your post was a waste of space. If you don't know what you are talking about, leave the subject be (don't see me commenting on much other than the Novas and a little waterfowl). Usually I'm all about helping out those less fortunate in the brain department, but I'm going to have to side with Tucker on this one. [ 11-15-2005, 08:07 AM: Message edited by: Cleric ]
  11. It has been kind of sparce here in CO. We have managed to hit all the warm weekends and the birds are nowhere to be seen. Next weekend it is supposed to be a bit cooler and we're hoping to see some geese in the mix. Only 6 so far...
  12. That is in your owner's manual. Read that before proceeding any further (it is just a good idea). It is really quite simple, but I would still suggest reading the manual fully. Check page 44 for a bonus! You can download it here: http://www.benelliusa.com/customer-service/manuals.tpl
  13. I haven't done it myself, but there are a few that have: http://www.benelliusa.com/forums/ultimatebb.php/topic/1/2017.html#000000 http://www.benelliusa.com/forums/ultimatebb.php/topic/1/1844.html#000000 http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=58086&highlight=nova+recoil There are bits and pieces in each of those threads. Most of the problems with installation appear to arise out of getting the rubber spacer correctly cut and installed. I believe each of those threads address that issue. Other than that, screw it in!
  14. "Snap shooter" - reminds me of my paintballing friends. I compared the barrel lengths side by side when I was purchasing my Nova. It may have just been me, but the 2" difference didn't really appear to be a full 2". Again, that may just be me...
  15. http://www.berettausa.com/product/product_field_guns_main.htm Beretta has released a interesting offering in this department. The Onxy Pro is a wood stock which has been treated with a synthetic finish. I got to handle one of them a couple of weeks ago. It certainly looks synthetic, but I take the rep's word that it is wood. Kind of an interesting in-between step.
  16. LOL... that was on target I'll have to put some away for a pair of those plugs. My little brother has a pair from way back. He's a prof musician, so he does get the use of them. However, my hobby certainly justifies the purchase. Heck, it's more of a lifestyle anyway.
  17. About how much do those molded plugs run?
  18. Are you going to go the T/C route or revolver?

    Duck calls

That must be a pain to perform a decent hailing call on. I prefer the Stoegers. I can just blow better on them for some reason.
  20. Replied here: http://www.benelliusa.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/2/483.html Please don't double post.
  21. It's not advertised elsewhere (e.g., Franchi or Benelli's website) because it is exclusive to Dick's. From what I have seen, it is worth the price. Search the Franchi forum here and you should turn up a couple of threads on it. BTW, that Dick's flyer has a few flaws. It does say that the diamond is imported by Benelli (which is true, as are all Benelli subsidaries). It also lists the Nova as a Stoeger gun. Opps. [ 11-02-2005, 09:54 PM: Message edited by: Cleric ]
  22. It is actually not a Benelli. It is manufactured under the Franchi name. It's an inexpensive model made exclusively for Dick's.
  23. Never have had a problem with the birds seeing my black Nova. Besides, if you have a blind worth going to, the color of the gun should be of little interest to anyone.
  24. If you search on this topic, you'll find quite a few opinions already out there (range, slugs, etc.): http://www.benelliusa.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi/ubb/search/search_forum/1.html As far as I can tell, the rifled barrel gives you a slight advantage over shooting through a rifled choke. There have been some issues with the quality of the Ithaca slug barrels, but I have heard both good and bad things about them. Also, browse through here: http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewforum.php?f=61 Prostreetcamaro just posted up some results on his slug barrel and the issues he went through with it.
