    M4 Newbie

Glad you're enjoying your new 11707.
  2. I agree. Half the time I shoot my m4 I do it without really lining up or looking at the irons. With some practice and good form you can kind of just position your body at the thing you want to hit and the gun does the rest.
  3. I beleive that the ENTIRE hand guard and rail is polymer (fancy plastic!). I've never seen one in person though, so I could be wrong ... but that is my belief.
  4. I agree, as previously stated it is not of major importance to me, however if one is going to put T-marks, one should put them in a uniform order ... not skip random digits like a crackhead.
  5. I'd go staggered in order to keep a consistent and recognizable T markings. The odd numbers and skipping 2-3 at a time is just weird IMO. That said, T-markings are of little real concern to me ... but my preference would most certainly be for the offset, every other T marking. ETA - Also, congrats on making a successful, properly made replacement part! I know a lot of us cannot wait to get ahold of these ... thank you so much for your continued hard work Kip! ETA2 - We want pics!
  6. breakfree clp is a very common and well known multipurpose cleaner. A dedicated solvent would also strip the oil from your gun and remove fingerprints, assuming they havent been sitting on the gun for years, which in your case is obviously not an issue.
  7. Yea, it always looked huge. Too bad they never even brought it to market at all though
  8. Twist it while pulling out?
  9. clp or solvent, a rag and elbow grease.
  10. Cowitness is over rated on a shotgun ... That's what quick release is for ... IMO. If your optic fails you in the heat of the epic megabattle you undoubtedly are destined to use your m4 in, rip that **** off and go back to using irons and screaming obscenities.
  11. You should be less obvious ... You're gonna get your source in trouble.
  12. Another option is the FAB rail which I forgot to mention before, but it also has it's share of issues ... it has to be carved out a bit to fit the newer 11707 barrel profile. By the way, not suggesting anyone buy from BOTACH, I'm just raping them for their pictures. http://www.botachtactical.com/fabbem4po4ra.html
  13. If I can score an extra set of hand guards I will likely try to duplicate something like this ...
  14. Some people love them, some don't like them. I have very limited first hand experience with one, but if I had to make a list of issues ... 1) - Issues with hot gas being let right out onto hands, or something 2) - fitment and strength issues, wobble, ill fit in receiver etc 3) - the design is such that if it's flexed, it prevents the gas pistons from moving via friction, thus potentially jamming your gun 4) - Ugly as sin 5) - Not true 1913 spec rails. 6) - heavy? These issues could all be resolved by now, but I lost any interest I ever really had in the rail. I may have even made some of the issues up in a temporary bout of insanity. I'm just giving you a list of stuff to check out ... I seem to remember threads on all these issues, for better or for worse. As far as how to mount a light on an m4 ... it's a bit of pain right now, as I (and many others) find the aftermarket options to be pretty slim. You basically either get a railed handguard (surefire, B&T, FAB and sidearmor) and then attach a light to that, or you get a mag tube/barrel clamp mount and attach a light like that, but it must be removed every time the gun is disassembled ... The slickest, and IMO most desirable light setup I've seen thus far is something like this ...
  15. A well worn receiver! That's what I like to see.
  16. You are the man.

    Yay!!

Cool. I'd get an XD-M for sure if I could legally carry mags for it ... but good old NY screws me over and forces me to use a glock 19 if I want 15 round mags. No matter, the glock 19 is a great weapon and I'm getting pretty damn good at shooting it. I got some XS night sights for it a few weeks back and I am really liking them. I would buy your handguards if you ever decide to sell them, I've been meaning to try out some crazy mods. I'll take a second look at the sling.
  18. No gay ones allowed?

    Yay!!

There is a slight difference IMO, the fixed PG stock feels slightly less front heavy, but the difference is minimal.

    Yay!!

Pretty much that. I found it just got in the way and was unnecessary for a HD gun. I honestly haven't even shot my m4 much in the past year, I've been busy with my new rifles and handguns.
  21. Looks like a 2 position ... and I don't know which kit you'd need, as I don't know what the "assembly" comes with that you would need differently ... I'd call and ask them.

    Yay!!

No sh%t! I had wondered who the heck you were when you came back under a new name with 10k rounds down your m4 and knowledge of issues ... turns out I knew who you were all along. You forget your password or something? Welcome back, StevenB! And I'd reply to what I initially said, but apparently some mod here deleted it, and now that I'm sober I don't remember what I said that was so offensive. Damn. But yes, sluts need love too, etc.
  23. Simmer down Frenchie.
  24. You don't have to kid. They really are ******** in my experience, it's ok, you can say it.
