  1. Thanks for the advice stu....I'll give it a shot and let you know how it turns out
  2. around here man everyone is sold on the Mesa tactical shell holder... I really do not see how you can get any better than that! just don't put one of those junk plastic ones on your buddies shotty man. I'm hereby making it a man law that a guy can't install crappy shell holders on buddies shotguns! [ 10-03-2006, 05:10 AM: Message edited by: wingbone ]
  3. got my first deer of the season yesterday morning with my bow....a nice fat doe problem is that after field dressing the deer yesterday morning it appears I put my knives back in my pack and forgot to clean them. got them out as soon as I remembered today and cleaned them up but I have some rust and some nasty lookin black stains that will not come out with gun oil. can anybody tell me what to do now? one is a S.S. blade and the other is carbon steel....and I already know I'm a dumb@$# for forgetting to clean my knives in the forst place
  4. I'm pretty sure we have been over three miles, I can tell you that in the woods range is cut in half. I would have to ask my buddy we used the radios with the furthest range last year going on a hunting trip in two seperate trucks, and no bigger than the wood lots from where I'm from we have never needed more range than the radio would put out.
  5. M2 Field- I have the talkabout T6550 and I'm pretty sure it goes like this...7 and below is the FMRS band and anything above 7 is the GMRS bands which means more power that = more range. I'm sure this info is on the net, I cant find my owners manual for the radios now
  6. I use the Motorola brand radio, on the lower channels the radio uses the lower power FMRS (family radio band something or other) on the higher channels the radio switches itself to the higher power GMRS. when using the GMRS you by law have to have a license with the FCC that will cost you about $80 and when you purchase the license it covers your entire household. I'd say you need to look at the owners manual, I bet you are only using the FMRS channels if you are not getting much range......keep me posted and let me know what you find out.
  7. Nitro here is the best advice I can give you on this and alot of this is my own opinion for what it is worth. first I do not think you will be able to find enough U.S. made parts for an M1 to get your parts count to where it needs to be so just go trade that old gun off on a brand new M4 second: go talk to some of the local law enforcement officers and get a feel for their attitude twords such things. **** hook up with one and ride with him one weekend night you don't have anything to do....where I'm from the cops are pretty cool. third: if you can go to the local Gander Moutain and buy a new Remingtion tactical or a Mossberg 590 do you really think they'd waste their time on you unless you had other stuff they was trying to get you on, and lets say among a bunch off illegal weapons finds your non-compliant 922r shotgun? I can say that where I'm from the local law would frown more upon a collapsible stock than anything else. I guess what i'm trying to say is I think we are all trying to think too far into all technical jumbo....as long as you are a level guy and not a criminal I can't see you ever having any trouble. I have never had a cop or game warden that has said a word to me about my shotgun at the local ranges or anyplace except "wow thats cool" after holding it for ten minutes and sometimes even shooting it.
  8. After reading an article in a gun magazine about a new shotgun Benelli was about to release during a family reunion and seen the picture of the new M1014 I quickly took the article to my older brother and showed him this fantastic shotgun that I just had to have as soon as it came out. Time went by and I forgot all about the article and the shotgun until my big brother shows up at my house one day with a Benelli box. Upon opening the box was a brand spankin new 2002 M1014, number 196 of the 2500 that was released to the public. Needless to say he was the greatest guy I knew after that. A couple of years went by and my big brother had some troubles with his marrige and divorced so I spent as much time with him as possible as most of us know how women troubles can torment a guy when he is by himself. We was doing some deer hunting togther one november morning after his divorce when he told me about a set of knives his then X-wife had bought them for their first wedding aniversery and how he regreted selling them....well looking over at my Benelli leaning up against a tree I knew right then what I had to do. After tracking the fella down that had this set of knives and telling him that I HAD to purchase them I knew I was about to get raped the knives are a set of Puma knives, one was called a white hunter and the other was a skinner, they was the old type with the carbon steel blades but still not a super expensive knife but my brother had just come out of a twenty year marrige with the women that which at the time had to pinch and save for a long time to buy these knives for him....well after this fella got done with me that day it cost me $500 cash to get the knives back, which was alot more than what they was worth, but his mistake, I would have paid $1,000 for them if that fella had asked for it. so I took the knives placed them back into the factory boxes they came with and put them away in my gun vault, called my mom and told her that I had got the knives back and that the whole operation was to remain top secret until the right time to give them back to him. much to my suprise a week later my brother shows up at my house a week later, I was just about to spring my suprise on him when he started a serious conversation with me. He talked about how everyone was mad at his X for leaving him and things that had happened during this time and ran it past me what people would think of him if he went back to her. I did not hesitate when I answered him explaining he was my big brother and what ever move he made I'd back up 100% and to **** with anyone who did not. well needless to say shortly after they was remarried and everyone he happy again and so was I because he was. Then came their first wedding aniv. of the new marrige whith his old wife, on this day we all met at our mother's house where I gave his wife(that I consider my sister) two neatly wrapped boxes, I told her that the two boxes was for my brother but explained that I had to give them to her first and she could be the only one to give them to my brother she looked at me not understanding my reson but still complied and they opened the boxes together. I now wish I would have taken a picture of this now so I could have shown you guys the looks on their faces when they realized these was the same knives from so long ago, never can I remember a time besides my own daughter being born of feeling any better at what I had done! A few months go by and my brother stops by again this time with another box, looking inside was a 1903A3 Springfield rifle in great condition (not one that had been brought back to the states) with all the certifcates and paperwork that makes these rifles worth more money ...I have had this rifle a couple of years now and have never fired it but every time I get it from the vault to admire it I always think back to those saturday mornings when I was a kid, he would wake me up to make me breakfest and watch Scooby Doo with me, I'll always smile and then give my big brother a call on the phone to see how he is doing and tell him I love him and all, because he has since moved away, and we both have positions in management of companies that require a lot of our time and my growing family. But every year during that third week of Novemeber we take vacation and you'll find us sitting on a ridge somewhere, me with my 1014, him with his M1 and those knives on his belt drinking some coffee and waiting for that big one! Who could have guessed a shotgun could have started the unforgetable chain of events I described above, but now when you see me get a little carried away about my Benelli you can understand better, to me it is not just any old shotgun Bottom line is I think I got a pretty **** good brother that I'm real proud of and thats why I wanted to share this story with you. Thanks for listening to me. [ 09-30-2006, 10:14 PM: Message edited by: wingbone ]

    Eotech mount

like I said Duggan if I was using the sight on my AR I'd want it 1/4" higher but on the Benelli I like just where its at....so it looks like I'm going with the GG&G.

    gas pistons

let me know as soon as he gets some up for sale I'm in for a set. I'm sure if he makes them they will be of high quality!

    gas pistons

got one of the tubes he made in the mail this morning...you are right, I can't see a true factory tube being any better quality than the ones he is making.

    Eotech mount

what is the best mount to use for the Eotech that does not raise the sight 1/4"? I've been holding out because the sight is perfect now sitting on the rail for me but that screw for mounting that came with the sight sucks
  13. wingbone,,your fast becomming a rising star on this forum,,those cool screws and a bayonet is the way to go chuckles~ thanks old man, but you'll always be like the Lord Vader of the M1014

    gas pistons

I'm starting to see some used factory M4 gas pistons up for sale here and there all the sudden. Is somebody making these in the U.S. now?
  15. now you need to weld a bayonet lug to that tube and you'll be set!...there was a thread a while back, you never know when that bayonet could come in handy
  16. Richard- try ar-15.com I'm sure you can find one there, I'd be real suprised if you couldnt
  17. LMFAO!...I'm pretty sure one of those dudes drives an ice cream truck around my neighborhood
  18. M1014 is right, it still has threads at the back of the spring tube....remove the trigger group and give it a spin then replace trigger group and you'll be good to go
  19. think there is enough interest to try and get a group buy going?...If so I'd be in for a set of sights
  20. Does anybody have one of Socom guy's tubes to compare with the tubes recently bought for $66 for a comparision?
  21. I have never seen both side by side but is the finish on the M4 darker then the finish on M1014? the M1014 in all the pictures I have seen on here looks lighter, could be lighting I guess??
  22. I have one of the tubes that was made a while back and the finish on those was perfect! did the socom guy stamp made in U.S. on his tubes like he said he was going to do?
  23. ---------------if you put any goooo on your new tube,,then go ahead and apply to your mouth now wait a minute...you said to save that gooo for you I never applied goo to the tube we got a while back just for in case of needing to put the the short one back on, and if the full length tubes keep going for the price they are now I will be plenty happy to have a mag extension and another Benelli [ 09-19-2006, 06:40 AM: Message edited by: wingbone ]
