  1. Benelli Rocks! My SBEII is far and away the best shotgun I've ever owned... Mine is, "simply perfect"
  2. Shoot it at some paper and see how it shoots.... It may very well be all you need. If it doesn't satisfy you, You can get a Jellyhead tube for about 30 bucks. That won't break you and It's a great tube for the price. A lot of guys on here have tried it and like it, so you wouldn't have to go through a bunch of tubes. I'd shoot the factory tube first though. It may be all you need. I know what you mean about wanting to shoot the SBEII this spring. It'd be a shame to leave her home.
  3. Tell us how you like it after you shoot it. I'm interested to know what you think of the feel, the pattern, and the kick. I was chuckling when I was reading about the kick. Especially when tucker said, "she's a kicker". I love mine...
  4. It's been said on here before... I think everybody knows the 3 1/2" kicks. Most of us don't really mind. It's worth it for the best shotgun on the planet. I only shoot 3 1/2" at turkeys. Then you only have to shoot once. I don't know how shooting 3 1/2" all day would be. It would make a man out of you, that's for sure. I kind of like the kick. It lets me know I'm shooting a man's gun, that's in charge.
  5. Welcome aboard. It's a pretty cool hangout. Full of stuff about Benellis. I'm kind of a newbie to, I'm learning and enjoying it. I'm sure you will to.
  6. mudhen, those patterns are what I consider great. I haven't counted pellets in mine but they look like yours. I shoot at 40 yards, measured and marked, and get good even patterns about like yours without holes in them. I'm tickled with that. I wouldn't shoot a bird any farther any way. I had a different shotgun before my SBEII that I tried all kinds of shell and choke combos and could never dream of patterns like this. I need to get out my camera and post some pics. But they look about like yours. I think they're great. But I'm a tinkerer and I'm always looking for just a little bit better. The guys at the gun shop have seen my targets and they say that if a birds close I better aim good or it'll blow by him.
  7. What works good in one gun may not in another. Indian Creek sent me a .665 and a .655 to shoot in my SBEII. I like the .655 better for several brands of #5s and #6s. My buddy shoots a .655 Kicks that he loves and it patterns so good it's the reason I sold my Browning 3 1/2 and bought the SBEII. I'm going to buy that SSX .643 just for the turkey shoots with the #8s.
  8. I had a question once. I made a phone call and had to hold for a long time but I got through. They do need a better system. But I still love my Benelli, don't want anything else.
  9. I thought I was the only one who did that...
  10. I love mine... I had a Browning Gold 3 1/2" before and it was a nice gun but the one I had didn't pattern like I wanted it to. I tried various choke tubes and was never satisfied. Last spring a friend bought a SBEII and it patterned awesome. It got to eating at me and I got rid of the Browning for the Benelli. I've owned about 6 shotguns and the SBEII is by far my favorite. It cycles lightning fast and I've never had a problem. Of course, I haven't had mine as long as some of these other guys. I have used it in cold temps but no rain yet. It patterns like a dream. I have a Primos Jellyhead choke tube that really impresses me for the money, and an Indian Creek that is just amazing. I have cleaned it a few times, which is real easy, and I keep it oiled with CLP. I think it will provide me with many years of great hunting. My friend says "Its the chit" or something like that...
  11. Tuck does come across a little harsh sometimes.... lol

    SBE II

My SBEII has only been to the patterning board a few times, but I've put everything through it from #8s to 3 1/2" Heavy Turkey and 00 Buck, and it spits 'em out faster than I can pull the trigger. I'm confident in the eagle. It's everything I wanted. No complaints here. Come Turkey Season, I'll have some stories to tell. And hopefully some nice pics.
  13. I'm anal about keeping my weapons in good shape too. Unfortunately not all people treat them like we do. I'd be firm with Benelli and let them know you want a replacement. I think they'd oblige. It's their reputation. I have a SBEII and the serial numbers don't match on my barrel and receiver either. I thought it strange too, when I first got it, but this barrel is a turkey hunters dream and I wouldn't let it go. One of my buddies says "it's the chit"
  14. .643... That's tight... I wouldn't mind having one of those to shoot turkey shoots. I bet that'd even pattern those low powered #8s they give you at turkey shoots. Let us know about extensive tests. I'll look at them next time I'm at Bass Pro.
  15. I had a Browning Gold in Camo for four years. The finish never chipped but it wore off in places that got the most touched and rubbed. The places where the camo wore off were black. So this time when I traded the Browning for a Benelli SBEII, I opted for Black, thinking the same thing would happen so this time just go black to start with. I put a Beartooth camo stock guard on it and a camo sling. It still looks cool. Plus, camo styles change, but black stays around.
  16. My friend shoots the Gobblin Thunder .655 with Winchester Supreme #5s. He gets great patterns with his SBEII and kills birds. That's the main reason I bought the SBEII.
  17. Congrats... Sounds like a good day huntin'. Thanks for sharing, and for the pic...
  18. That's kind of what I figured.... That's about like the other guns I own. I do hunt with them in every temperature and environment, but I clean and oil them as necessary. My SBEII performs flawlessly, I'm glad I bought it, I imagine my SBEII will be my favorite shotgun for a lot of years.
  19. How do you like the Beartooth camo cover? I just ordered it Friday. I hated that they didn't have Realtree AP, but I wanted it anyway. It wasn't too expensive and if I like it and they come out with Realtree APG, I'll probably get a second. I like my SBEII, I like Automatics... But a pump would do a nice job for a Turkey gun, since you usually only have to shoot once. And some of you guys can shoot a pump wicked fast anyway.
  20. I think I'm just going to keep lots of Break Free CLP on mine...
  21. If it's a repetitve problem, you must have got a bad gun. Mine cycles like a machine gun. I have shot all kinds of loads. Even 2 3/4" that do meet the min requirements. As far as performance, mine rocks. I'm thinking I'll get years of use out of it.
  22. Congrats on the Super Nova. I hope you get a monster longbeard with it. I have the SBEII, I've been playing with some choke tubes, and ammo. I like Indian Creek .655, and Kick's .655 the best. But at around 30 bucks I think Primos Jellyhead .660 is the best for the money. I have found Hevi-13 the tightest but Winchester Supremes are second place and half the money. I haven't tried the Wnchester Extended Range yet, but I will before spring. I don't really know how similar the Patterns are for SBEII and Super Nova. Probably close...??? I don't know... Better buy ammo quick... From what I hear the prices are going up fast due to cost of metals.
  23. Who thinks hunting in the rain is abusive treatment. One reason people buy Benelli is because of it's reputation as the Duck Hunting, tough as nails, shotgun. I haven't hunted in the rain with mine yet, as it is not a year old yet, but I will. I use CLP like crazy. I'm probably the oilingest (if thats a word) guy on here. I hope mines so saturated by then, it'll hold up to the elements.
  24. I only shoot 3 1/2" at turkeys. Everything else is 3" for me. That and price may sway you to the M2.
