  1. Got one as well, only concern for me is there is a bit of "play" in the handle allowing it to spin a bit - as if the flats on the end are a bit shallow.
  2. I'd suggest a quick call to them - 15 years is a long time
  3. Might want to try calling as the web site is overloaded - you can probably view but can't make it through check out - number is 877.432.6637 - be prepared to wait
  4. http://www.shop.carriercomp.com/category.sc?categoryId=6
  5. *Sold* 1 more in sealed box avail
  6. NIB $450 Shipped CONUS Email or pm if you've got any questions
  7. Only concern I would voice for storing with the barrel down would be moisture wicking up from the carpet/pad - if that's something you need to worry about in your neck of the woods
  8. No affiliation w/seller http://www.sturmgewehr.com/webBBS/semi4sale.cgi?read=235004
  9. Kip - can you post on this thread when they are available through your store? thx
  10. the bolt rods are probably broken - very common with the M4's
  11. Anybody got any ideas on the torque specs for the screws? yes, some of us lead very sheltered lives where 'hand tightening' is insufficient
  12. Agree with you on the cost of shooting "the good stuff" - I've shot several hundred rounds of the Rio w/o any issues - seems to be popular ammo at our club.
  13. A narrow escape for sure.............any of these guys? http://www.letargets.com/estylez_ps.aspx?searchmode=category&searchcatcontext=~010000~010106
  14. KB - thanks for the pictures and very nicely done; I also mount my LaRue gear 'backwards' on several firearms. Got an old Steyr .308 rifle with a Picatinny rail on top - factory suggests using epoxy on the rail in addition to the screws to secure the rail to the receiver - they had some issues with the screws shearing as a result of recoil - Wonder if there will be any issues with the additional mass of the shells loading up the mounting screws - did you torque/loctite them?
  15. twowheelhooligan - very nice article and I appreciate the time and effort to document your findings - if I may, what made you choose the Carlson Breacher Choke tube? "Carlson's new Tactical Breacher Choke Tube allows ou to turn your hunting gun into a home defense gun. The open choke allows for shooting with lead, buckshot, Hevi-Shot or steel shotshells. You can count on this choke tube for your security needs. Backed by Carlson's Lifetime Warranty!" http://www.choketube.com/mobilchoke.html From AR15 FAQ's Do I want large or tight patterns with buckshot? Tight patterns are desired because we want all of the buckshot to impact the target. And projectiles that miss the target will continue down range, and will cause us to violate Firearms Safety Rule #4 - Be sure of your target and what lies beyond it. Isn't a wide pattern an "advantage" of using a shotgun? No, it is not. It is a definite advantage when hunting and wing-shooting birds with birdshot. But when used for home defense, we do not want any projectiles to miss the target, and this requires tight patterns. Buckshot does not "act like one slug". Therefore, even if the pattern is tight, the individual buckshot will each create its own wound channel when it impacts the target.om AR15 FAQ's
  16. If it is a 'characteristic' of other shotguns you've inspected, Benelli might not be able to do anything about it - unfortunately, it looks like an unfavorable stacking of tolerances or the supplier got something a bit oversized - my guess is it will run in with use and not cause you any issues down the road - glad to have you on the forum.
  17. I also sent Dan an email inquiry about availability but haven't had a reply.........
  18. Probably more interest in a short barrel for the M4 - I'd be interested but don't want to go through the hassle and expense for a class III - be nice to have it if I could just drop her in, but that would be a no no.
  19. Mike - good news and thanks for the update. . . .and the barrel is still original!
  20. Metal parts will have microscopic 'burrs'/rough edges on them from the machining process/manufacturing process. "Breaking in" allows these surfaces to wear in to their mating surfaces - you will see some of the anodizing removed from the receiver as part of the break in/wear process - just a process to mate the moving parts. The second accomplishment is to hopefully uncover any defects that might be in the gun with either workmanship or material - spring that wants to break, etc. 3rd - as well stated by twowheelhooligan - is getting used to the operation of the gun, muscle memory, figuring out what works and doesn't work
  21. Justin - very nice - would be interested in the details - shoot me an email at your convenience please
  22. Very nice - understated elegance - very professional
  23. I think you said it well when you said vapor barrier; don't know if carpet will stop the transfer of moisture(vapor); air circulation is good if you don't loose the stability of the safe with the door open - best case would be able to secure to the tile/floor for maximum theft protection/stability - wonder if a sheet of plastic carpet runner would give you the barrier you want or cutting one of those heavy duty plastic pad used? for chairs on carpet
