  1. So please continue Splash, because obviously im not the only one who has no idea what your trying to say
  2. And yet you still dont know when the season closes..... Because you'd think you'd know these things after you killed "several hundred ducks"
  3. Last time I checked you don't need to know
  4. Splash, I realize people go through tough times and everything, but somehow all these excuses you are coming up with aren't buyin it for me. First you posted the picture of a mallard you poached and you said "I shot it because my mom was talking about how she missed a duck dinner" and then now I hear you post another thread about killing mulies with a 22mag saying "yepp I shot it, to feed my family when the price of oil droped and everything." Thats bull **** splash If I was in your situation splash: I would do everything I possibly could to put clothes on my kids back and food on the table. That would mean selling, every luxary ideam that I own (thats including shotguns, rifles, handguns ect) because there would be more important things to worring about. And you can guarenttee that I would not be on this forum posting threads about how I killed mulies with a 22mag and **** like that because I would be to busy working muliple jobs to support my family!
  5. The Extrema 2 in my opinion is an all around great shotgun. Two of my buddies who I duck hunt with bought brand new Extema 2's at the beginning of duck season this year and they haven't had any problems with them what so ever. A major + about the Extrema 2 is that there is no break in period required unlike the SBE 2. With the Extrema 2 all we had to do is take the gun out of the box, take the action apart and clean everything real good and that was it (just follow the directions in the owners manual). The first time my buddies both shot their Extrema 2's was in the duck blind, and they cycled perfectly everytime. The only problem I have with the Extrema 2 is that the safety is in front of the trigger guard, but thats easy to get use to. And with the Extrema 2 there are more parts to clean than the SBE 2. Read these threads, your going to notice alot of guys having problems with their SBE 2's not feeding correctly or having the "Benelli Click" problem where the bolt is not completely engauging, and some guys on here love their SBE 2's it all depends on what you like. Benelli has great customer service though so they can help you with problems like that. When im duck hunting the last thing I want to be worring about is whether or not my shotgun is going to shoot 3 times for me. I know the Extrema 2 will shoot everytime I pull the trigger.
  6. A poacher is also a dumbass who either doesn't respect the game laws or is just TO DAMN STUPID to pay any attention to them and unknowingly take an animal out of season, thus this person should not be allowed to hunt any animal what so ever.
  7. Yeah actually it is, they turn out pretty good. And they mix the ducks with the beef to make the beef sticks.....come on i know your not that stupid.
  8. Yeah I live at home, so what. At least my parents were able to teach me how to be responsible. Were your parents lacking in that catagory.....?? I think so So whats it like being a 45 year old man who is less responsible then an 18 year old kid? That must suck because Id be a little disappointed in myself if I were you.
  9. I breast every one of my ducks out: I'll merinate them in a bunch of different sauses and spices for about 5 hours and then I wrap them up in bacon and throw them on the BBQ. I also take some of my ducks down to my local meat locker and have beef sticks made out of them. I have been hunting ducks and geese since I was 5 and I've been guiding guys your age for 2 years now.....I think I know what im doing Tell your mom if she wants a duck dinner that bad, then im sure it woulndnt be too hard for her to go down to the grocery store and buy one. Because last time I checked, no where in the regs does it say its OK to go out and poach a mallard whenever your mom feels like a duck dinner. Maybe its different down there in Texas.....
  10. The difference Ive noticed between synthetic and camo is the amount of glare reflecting off the barrel. Down here in California im hunting in pit blinds for most of the day, and ive noticed ducks picking up the glare from synthetic shotguns alot more than camo shotguns. It all depends on what you like.

    Firing Pin

First off Id check to make sure that it is your firing pin in the first place, because you dont wanna replace something thats perfectly fine. Try taking your gun out and shooting some rounds through it, if your still getting misfires then I would completely break down the gun(use your owners manual if you dont know how to do that) and clean everything. If that doesnt work, id take your gun into your local gun shop. Because there might be other problems as well.
  12. Hey splash I'll buy your shotgun from you dude, because obviously your to irresponsible to handle it. .....maybe in a few years you can buy it back from me after your balls drop and you mature a bit. And hey that'll give you some time to actually read the regs and learn when duck season actually opens and CLOSES. Hey splash let me ask you a question though: Did you poach that mallard because you are incapable of killing a duck during duck season or what? And just because you poached a mallard that was swimming across your pond, that doesn't give you the title of a "duck hunter" just to let you know......

    Splash

Hey splash, what Wal-Mart in Ft. Worth does your wife work at?
  14. When your shooting your Supernova, you have to make sure that your bolt is fully engauged and locked. If its not, then your going to get the famous Benelli "click" alot of the new shooters are having that exact same problem. The 1/8" gap shouldn't make a difference because I have a Remington 870 that had somewhat of a gap as well and I used that gun for ducks and geese for a while and it shot great. I still use that gun as a backup if something happens to go wrong with my Franchi I-12. If your concerned about that gap, then I would suggest taking it down to your local gun shop and seeing what they can do. They might end up sending it back to Benelli, but at least they'll be able to address the problem. Down here in California this is our last week of duck season so I would finish out the season, then take my gun in. But its up to you.
  15. Winchester Supreme 3-inch #3's for ducks and geese
  16. On Saturday me and my buddy Dave killed 3 snows, 1 widgeon. The duck hunting down here in the central valley this past week has been terrible. I dont know if the ducks have already migrated through or what. There are more geese down here every week so thats good. Goose numbers are high right now throughout the state.
  17. Yeah my email is [email protected] i'll see if I can help you guys out at all.
  18. How'd you guys do? Im headed out tonight, Im guiding a guy out tomorrow morning so we'll see how it goes.

    misfire

Try using a thiner lube because some products out there tend to become thicker when the temperature drops causing your gun to misfire. Try the Benelli oil because that works great in cold weather and it wont stop up your gun. You should be able to pick up a bottle at your local gun shop.
  20. Haha it must drive him crazy because I know when I guide people there's alot of pressure cause you want everything to go good but hey like I tell them huntin in huntin, if you hunt long enough your gonna have good days and bad days. Tell your buddy he should find somethin else to shoot, something that requires no work what so ever lol Im thinkin a high fence game ranch......... hahaha because obviously he's gettin beat out by a newbie. He'll be pissed lol
  21. Thats nice being able to hunt everyday of the season. We have a club rule where we can only hunt Saturdays, Sundays, and Wednesdays so we can allow the birds to come back in the area. I've limited almost every time this year within about 4 hours, my dad and I killed both our limits in 1/2 hour a few weeks ago. Haha so yeah I hope you learned somethin.... always bring decoys and always bring your waders even if your not gonna use them.
  22. Kents are good because they're cheap, $12.99 for a box of 3" #2 shot. Anything under 35 yards is dead. Down here in California Im shooting at birds 45 to 50 yards out sometimes so I need a shell that will maintain its knockdown power out to those distances. Other than being cheap I dont like these shells what so ever. Very poor penatration, I've killed ducks such as mallards and redheads and when I was cleaning the birds I noticed that a few of the BB's hardly even penatrated the skin. I now shoot the Winchester Supremes and although they're expensive, Id rather pay a few more dollars on a good shell rather than a cheap box that will wound more birds. My advice is buy a box of Kents and pattern your shotgun with them. Start at 25 or 30 yards and work your way back. Each gun shoots each load differently. If you like them, keep shooting them.
  23. No decoys... are you kidding me? Im not big into setting alot of decoys, only 25 or so. But if your gonig to duck hunt you need **** at least 6. Did you guys bring a mojo duck or anything? See the nice thing about where you guys hunt its alot easier to call in ducks because they're just starting the migration, and with a few decoys they should be coming right in. Down here in California the ducks are pretty much used to calling so it takes some talent to bring them in. Thats kinda sad though cause here you just started duck hunting and you already know more than your buddy lol

    chokes

See I shoot an extended modified. It all depends on what you like. It makes since though to just buy a choke rather than a brand new slug barrel.
  25. duckht183

    chokes

Patternmaster makes a great choke, you can notice the difference in the density of your patterns. There gonig for about $85 so I dont know if you wanna spend that kind of money on a choke. Comp-N-Choke is less expensive but its still shoots very well. The good thing about Patternmaster though is that you'll be able to shoot 00 buck out of it as well as steel.
