  1. IMO the only premium that HK imported M1 Super 90 commands is that it's in primo condition. It's still a Benelli that's been discontinued.
  2. The two I had with that style of button extension never showed the finish getting rubbed off the receiver, nor have I ever seen any other 121 M1 showing same worn off finish ahead of the bolt release. Looks like possibly an inference problem to me, in fact it looks to me like quite a bit of interference. I suggest you remove button extension and see if that doesn't resolve the issue. I have no idea why that would rub the finish off like that, like I said I've never seen that before. That button extension is strictly a convenience item to give you another option on bringing the shotgun into battery. If you have one without the button extension you won't miss it. I kept five founds in a buttstock ammo holder to have a round handy to get the party started. I don't like having a shotgun in battery until it's party time.
  3. Good question. I'm wondering how it got that way. Years ago I had three 121 M1s, and all three had the 'Benelli button' which which was just a small knob or button with a hex screw tapped into the original bolt release button. I recall that there were two different styles of this Benelli button as I had both. One had the profile of a cone (tapered end down) with ridges and the other was a tapered/rounded button with ridges and a flat side (one of which was installed backwards but I never changed because it still worked fine because of the ridges - flat side toward shooter being correct orientation) I don't recall ever seeing a complete replacement bolt release that featured this minor button extension so that it makes it possible to be flicked forward to release a round from the magazine otherwise the only way to get it into battery is pull the bolt back and drop a round in the ejection port. Adding that button extension to the bolt release didn't even require disassembly. I'd think a competent gunsmith would be able to resolve the issue. If you're not wanting to keep it then your problem is getting rid of it quickly. If you decide to part it out it will take you a while. Those 121 model Benellis are pretty simple and robust, IMO the only parts of that 121 that would be in demand are the wood furniture. I suggest listing it on gunbroker or elsewhere with full disclosure, you'd bail out of it much quicker and troublefree than trying to part it out. But then again you may be able to part it out on GB. Having the button extension adds a security feature to the 121 M1 - if some unauthorized individual picks up a 121 M1 not in battery they will not comprehend immediately how to make it go bang. Using the button extension to release a round out of the magazine which really speeds things up, if you know how to use it. Can you post a photo of the bolt release? After giving this some thought, any button extension would have to be attached AFTER bolt release installation. So if the goal is to add a button extension then there's no point in replacing the entire bolt release. If you're still unhappy with send it to a loving home so someone else can enjoy it.

    121 SL80

I'd be all over that like a duck on a junebug. Those are great shotguns and if and when you want to sell it it's worth more than $600 to a lot of folks. Be advised that to make the 121 series go bang you have to drop the first round into the ejection port unless it has an aftermarket 'Benelli button'. If it has the Benelli button it only takes a fleck of the wrist to release a round from the magazine.

    My M4 build

Yes, it does feel better, looks better for sure, and it takes up less space, however it's not as functional as a PG stock for my purposes.

    My M4 build

Yes, there's definitely a difference. I tried a field stock on my M4 but went back to the PG stock because it's impossible to use only one hand with the field stock whereas the PG stock lends itself to one handed use. Although in general I like the field stock over the PG stock however I like to have the one handed option for versatility. YMMV

"Just don't like it"...? What's not to like, that's a very nice build. If you've ever been in a storm then you know that a Benelli semi-auto is far superior to any pump shotgun. Under stressfire it's very easy to short stroke a pump shotgun, BTDT. An 870 is one of those pumps you definitely don't short stroke, it's unforgiving.

If it has a fixed choke and an American flag below the ejection port then that would be a limited production M1014 not a M4. It came that way. I'm unaware of any five position stock, only the three position stock.

    Kroil?

Kroil is great stuff, it's been used by bench rest shooters forever. However as good as Kroil is you still need mechanical action to quickly and effectively get the lead out. I use a Hoppe's 12 gauge tornado brush attached to a shotgun cleaning rod that's chucked up into a cordless drill. It's like magic. https://www.hoppes.com/all-hoppes-products/tornado-brush---12-gauge-shotgun/HO-1260.html
  10. I'm unable to answer why Benelli would design a shotgun to function like this however I kept a 121 M1 in my vehicle for many years and I considered this unusual operation to be a safety feature. Why? Because if some varmint got his hands on my loaded Benelli 121 M1 he's highly unlikely to figure out how to make it go BANG before I ruin his whole day. Ammo was in the mag and on the stock, however it's not obvious how to make it run. There was an aftermarket button extension that turned the BC release into what was called a "Benelli button." A flick of the Benelli button would release a round out of the magazine onto the elevator, not slow at all yet a deterrent for anyone unfamiliar the operation of the 121 M1. No longer a concern for most folks since Benelli quit making the 121 M1 over 35 years ago and no longer supports the 121 M1. I loved my 121 M1 shotguns but I now consider the 121 M1 a relic and no longer own any.
  11. For those on a budget looking for an economical homebrew gun cleaning solvent do a search for the recipe for Ed's Red. https://www.bing.com/search?q=ed's+red+gun+cleaner&qs=MT&pq=ed's+red&sc=12-8&cvid=D07402AC90594ED59E78B4FCA9B9BF86&FORM=QBRE&sp=1&ghc=1&lq=0
  12. I would very strongly advise against the use of gasoline as a solvent for gun cleaning purposes. There are other solvents available that are not nearly as hazardous to one's health (fire, inhalation), e.g. something made specifically for gun cleaning purposes such as Gun Scrubber.

  14. Pricey but worth it for reliability IMO.
  15. Be advised that only a Benelli +2 extension can be counted on to get you two extra rounds, the American made +2 extensions are actually only +1 in some cases, plus using a mag extension doesn't count as a 'made in USA' part with respect to 922r if that matters to you. Regarding the C-stock - the reasons for having a C-stock are: the coolness factor, to have that USMC look, when wearing body armor for shorter LOP, and compactness especially on short barreled shotguns. When I buy a second hand M4 with the C-stock I remove it and sell it then use the money to go toward a quality red dot sight. I've had a C-stock or two over the years and I've found it's not a 'must have' item for me, I'd rather cash it out. I have no opinion for offer on your other two inquiries.
  16. No, only full length made in USA magazine tubes count toward 922r compliance. Magazine extensions, even if made in USA, don’t contribute towards 922r compliance.
  17. Your options: Go back to your FFL and show them the problem Take it to a range with a rangemaster (who should be able to provide assistance), drop a shell into the ejection port, let the BCG slam the shell into battery then see it if goes bang when you pull the trigger and auto loads the next shell (this is what I would do to fully diagnose the issue), use only full power rounds like buckshot for function testing a new shotgun Contact Benelli after troubleshooting with someone with more experienced with the Benelli M4
  18. Bevel/concave side goes up, note how it matches angle of underside of fastener.
  19. Attach a Hoppe's 12 gauge tornado brush to a shotgun cleaning rod and chuck that up into a drill, have no further suggestion on what solvent to use. It's how I remove lead fouling. https://www.ebay.com/itm/225020120626?_skw=12+ga+tornado+brush&itmmeta=01JC9NWAJCR1ZQSJ00RM357VB4&hash=item34643e8e32:g:t-8AAOSwbqFinmDx&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKn3YSuChYYBLMhYSlVwae2CDMoAy%2BhY%2BeTy2WLum7oPECVsVy7zFvFIZU1ZwkaK0gP6aAPmXyDYzhbVR59iGulasI5qamDuLhsuYTS5rqIMGj9gzqZ2NqWwV2AWPYJlKiQRVd9hBz1NKCD4i3EqSNc%2BzkAeYC1vYgGovy29IFeHg9dYPYk%2FuN3fYu4uQwHN6UmDpkZzHLZ45Hz896WPWR0rF0yABr%2BvrYF5M3cZ%2BDvRJvfHDMJCrZa72329nhwNpOhFx4ZJNdWDhduojrgTsAClRZeo9Z8kAx8xzA7AUJSiTw%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR6qp8bXiZA
  20. I love my Tubb's flatwire AR buffer springs. I can see the advantage using a flatwire spring in a M4 magazine.
  21. On the lower end there’s also the Vortex SPARC https://vortexoptics.com/vortex-2019-sparc-ar-red-dot.html I’ve no experience with the Vortex red dots but they do offer a lifetime warranty. I suggest going to the source and contacting Holosun and vortex and inquiring as to what are the recommended maximum recoil impulse limits, e.g. can I mount this particular optic to my .50 BMG rifle? The optic manufacturers know the limits of their RDS.
  22. Smaller shot size such as #4 buck is preferred for safety when one is concerned about barrier penetration. IMO that’s the only reason for using #4 buck, it just doesn’t retain energy like 000 or 00 buck.
  23. Personally I’m a huge fan of 000 buck however at five yards just about any 2 3/4” rounds of 00 buck won’t disappoint. 3” shot shells are a waste of money and magazine space IMO. Typically a shot pattern opens up about 1” for every yard traveled so at five yards the shot pattern will be about five inches in diameter.
