If you only replaced the Benelli stock with a US made one, it would count as 1 US made part. You're only counting parts that you are removing. It would be like if you had added the Urbino stock. So in total, you would still need 2 more parts to be compliant. The full length magazine tube and the follower would suffice.

I agree, I would have went that route if that had been the case.

If a US made collapsible stock existed that replaced both the tail section and the pistol grip, it would make everything easier. Rather than adding evil parts, it would count towards them. With a US made collapsible stock, you would only need 2 additional parts to be compliant.

This image should help you understand the differences in recoil tubes between the many models of M4's. m1014: Limited Edition M4 with collapsible stock that doesn't collapse. 2 port barrel. 11703: 4 port barrel M4, fixed pistol grip stock. Same neutered recoil tube as the m1014. Most 4 port barrels were swapped out for 2 port units at customers requests. 11707: Fully functional M4. Comes with a 3 position recoil tube. Ships to civilians with a fixed pistol grip stock. Transition back to the 2 port barrels. 11717: Tan version of the 11707. 11722: 14" Entry model with fixed pistol grip stock. Other features the same as the 11707 and 11717 model. 11724: 14" entry model with a functional collapsible stock. Sourced for LEO and Government sales mainly. All other features the same as the 11707 and 11717 model.

The collapsible stock will fit on the m1014 and 11703 model, but it will not collapse. It will essentially be stuck in the fully extended position. A dealer cannot sell you the collapsible stock. You'll have to source one from gunbroker, ebay or from the great sellers on here. Your best bet is to begin stacking the deck towards 922 compliance. You need to replace 4 specified parts with US made ones. You can easily get 3 of them, but we are currently waiting for production of 2 more options from carriercomp. Currently, you should install the following; 1. US made full length magazine tube. An extension does not count. 2. US made magazine follower. 3. US made handguards. FFT makes a stock reproduction set. Surefire makes a railed forearm called the M80. There are a few other aftermarket forearms that will replace the handguards. 4. US made hammer 5. US made disconnector These last two parts are being produced by carriercomp.

Yes you are.

I heard elsewhere that King Armory will cut the M4 barrels to 10". That would be absolutely sick on my setup. My guess is you'd be a 3 +1 + 1 rounds at that length. You'd essentially have enough barrel and magazine tube sticking off the end of the barrel hanger to screw the cap on. That would make a package that is 26.5" long with the stock collapsed. Quite a bit better than the 40" monster. I wonder if Kip would make me a 10" Titanium tube.

Is there a US Made Collapsable Stock for the M4?
StrangerDanger replied to Smokin's topic in Benelli
The 11707 is black, and the 11717 is tan. Both will work with the collapsible stock. The m1014 and the 11703 will require a new recoil tube to be installed. The m1014 has a flag on the receiver. The 11703 will have a neutered recoil tube. Chances are, you have a 11707. If you have the box still, it should say so. Freedom Fighter Tactical makes an exact reproduction of the factory handguards. There are several other railed forearms that would replace the existing handguards as well. Your best bet is the M80 or the FFT reproduction unit. -
About to install Mep Nights Sights...What do I need to know?
StrangerDanger replied to M4Real's topic in Benelli
A solution already exists and the market is fairly shallow for the M4. I'd be surprised if more than 20,000 were in US civilian hands. It's probably more like half that. Look how reluctant manufacturers are on producing US made parts simply for parts compliance. If more law enforcement agencies begin carrying the shotgun, other markers might show some interest. -

No US made collapsible stocks currently. You can install a collapsible stock legally if you replace enough parts with US made parts. You need 4 prescribed parts to be 922 compliant. Currently, 4 parts do no exist but hopefully soon will. Most simply do not care. In the mean time, you can replace: 1. Full length magazine tube 2. Magazine follower 3. Forearm assembly 4 & 5. carriercomp hammer and disconnector. Currently in the works. The collapsible stock will work on your M4 assuming you have a 11707 or 11717 M4. -

Mainly, the front dot is bigger. Much bigger. The rear dots are not much more than pin pricks. I have no issues with them at night. The only detraction is the lack of a white ring around the lamps for daytime use. Maybe you could paint them with that luminescent paint? -

The rear set of meprolights aren't meant to be bright. Ask yourself if you would like to have two bright lamps several inches from your eye in low light. The rear set do nothing but give the user a visual reference as to where the ghost rings are in the dark. The aren't meant to be used to align the 3 dots. If you try, you'll notice the rear dots blur as you focus on the set due to the proximity to your face. I agree that the front sight would be better if it had a white ring around it. However, for 200+ dollars, no thanks. Plus the PITA in sending them your sights and waiting for the job to be done. The law of diminishing returns is in full effect here. -
CarrierComp Titanium Hybrid GenII Charging Handle
StrangerDanger replied to KB Fab's topic in Benelli
Good to see. This is by far the best designed bolt handle out there. I'd rather have it over my Design Concepts unit. I'll be buying some when they're coated. -
Interesting setup. Albeit heavy! I really do like the 14" barrel though...

Most of the initial break in theories come from this site. With proper lubrication, it should run 99% with low brass value pack crap. I've fed mine about 9000 rounds of it.

It's usually better when you can't pronounce your girlfriends name. If you want to see what the dating scene has to offer here in america, go to: http://www.mocospace.com/ Be very afraid. The Ddupleks do well on hard targets like car doors and engines too. Check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TA6qbkKPH6Q&feature=related On soft body targets, the peddles peel off instantly and spread in a star pattern around the impact site. They penetrate about 10 - 12 inches at 30 - 45 degree angles off the impact site. I didn't have my camera yesterday unfortunately. I don't plan on blasting too many of the Ddupleks due to cost. I just wanted to function test them in my weapon and get an idea on how much recoil they have. Looking at the brass, you'd expect them to kick like a mule -- but they don't.

You'll like the optic assuming you're running a 3 position collapsible stock or an Urbino. The fixed pistol grip stock sort of sucks. You have to break your cheek weld in order to line up with the dot. The middle position of the collapsible stock feels like it was made for running a dot optic. With the LaRue mount, reverse it so the lever is on the left side. Having the lever near the charging handle kind of sucks. Weren't you running a SideArmor or a Mesa top cover with a shell carrier? Why the change? I'm sure you will like the carriercomp top rail.

Thanks. I took it out shooting earlier today. Ran about 50 high brass #6, 30 Remington 1 ounce slugs, 5 Ddupleks Hexolit32 slugs, a 100 #7.5 valuepack and about 30 Remington buckshot through the M4. I also hiked with it for about a mile with my new sling arrangement. I still believe the factory handguard is superior in ergonomics to the M80. Even with the LaRue index clips, it is still significantly larger in diameter. Also, if you try to ride you thumb on the momentary button while shooting high brass, you'll jam your thumb if you aren't really holding onto it. The placement of the offset light gives enough room for you to ride your thumb comfortably beneath the momentary button. It'll just take some time to establish some muscle memory. I tried my best to beat the disconnector on the M4, even with the anemic value pack crap. Out rolled 8 smoking shells. The first still in the air before the last was fired. Rock solid reliability. The shotgun carried well with the sling. It was still quick to deploy. I hiked about a mile over some rough desert mountainous terrain. Oh yeah, Ddupleks Hexolit32 rounds are what you want when you've got to kill a Terminator T-1000. They have about half the recoil of a common lead rifled slug and deliver massive amounts of damage far in excess of what a lead rifled slug will deliver. These Hexolit32's have been shown to punch through engine blocks. I recovered two of the slugs after they tore through a gas cylinder. The entry hole was about 3 inches. The exit was no less than 10" in diameter. The six expanding peddles of the slug had broken free and were not found. A rifled lead slug simply burrowed a hole in and out of it approximately 2" in diameter. The cylinder was already shot up before I began my unscientific testing. I have a lot of slugs on hand. Probably close to a 1000 stashed away. The only bad thing about the Ddupleks is the price. They're about 3 bucks a pill vs. the 1 dollar per squeeze of your typical slugs. There are a few things that the Russians (Latvia actually) build good -- Slugs, weapons and women.

What is the round count on the weapon? Newer M4's should be broken in with a 100 - 200 high brass rounds. The cold weather could affect the cyclic rate depending on what oils you're using. I couldn't recommend a cold weather lube since I'm from Arizona... I use this oil. It claims it's good to -100 degrees. http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=128

No interference at all with the replacement carriercomp rail. It sits lower than the aftermarket units. I believe it's height kept at the same height as the factory top rail.
-
If the tube must be replaced, it is a much more difficult job to do than a magazine tube. The same green locktite is used, but there are much more threads. The aluminum receiver is easily damaged if done wrong. I've written up several detailed step by step disassembly posts back in January. The Numrich Arms complete recoil tube assembly is the only place that I know of that sells the 3 position recoil tubes. The stripped unit they offer is the 2 position tube. No one wants these.
-
Compare your recoil tube to the three units shown here.

How light of a load do you want to shoot? Your M4 should handle weak valuepack ammunition. I've even ran a few boxes of handicapt loads through the M4 just to try it. Determine what type of jam is occurring. A weak recoil spring will often leave the bolt carrier hanging up to the rear. Through trial and error, a lighter bolt handle has shown to increase cyclic rates and reliability. Try removing the bolt handle when testing the weapon to see if there is any benefit. Use a quality oil. Something like Machinegunners lube that LaRue sells. The M4 wants to run relatively wet. If it still continues to cycle poorly, there is a problem with that weapon.
