  1. I'd pass on the KZ. It weighs a pound over stock weight. If you use the 14 shell carrier, add 28 ounces more roughly.
  2. Black is great if; 1. You drive and store it in the Intel cleanroom. 2. Love washing cars. They look great when clean. But Terrible when even slightly dirty. Just glad you didn't get midlife crisis red. So when you go to chi-com mart, have you decided to park at the far side of the lot in the ort cloud and risk the run away carts, or park in with the heard and risk the flung open doors, people squeezing by rubbing their belt buckle down the side, touching your windows trying to see inside and close range shopping cart attacks. This is the part of owning a new car that I disliked. I had someone torpedo my truck that's coated almost entirely in Line-x with a cart. I think it did more damage to the cart. They're repainting the entire front end right? Just doing the fender probably won't match.
  3. The first roll out of the driveway of the stealership is going to feel great. Good plan to leave it stock until the waranty is gone. The trouble usually becomes you weigh the price and the payments and you consider rolling into a newer car in 3 or 4 years to retain a vehicle with a warranty and to fight the downward trend of depreciation. Being potentially the end of the line of the 427's, it may hold it's value very well. Hopefully you're keeping a beater car, and keep the long boring miles off of this prize. Not something I'd want to leave in the parking lot of Walmart.
  4. It's a cheapie blackhawk industries unit I bought from Optics Planet for like 20$. It isn't adjustable, so guys with a small chest might not like it. It holds 55 shells.
  5. Thanks for the offer. I have a set of those 20$ wrenches too. I have the sights on my M4, I'm buying these for a guy at work. This is a good deal. I think I paid 95$ at some small online retailer named Police something or another. I agree with the one use policy of the front nut. The nylock washer is trash after the first use. Thanks again for the offer. Going to the PO can be a real PITA.
  6. I'll take them. Pm me your email for gaypal. I'll send you the shipping address. Thx
  7. Go to carriercomp. Plan on getting; 1. Full length magazine tube, comes with a US made follower and a premium Wolff spring. 2. True Spec Picatinny rail 3. Titanium Bolt Handle (waiting on release) 4. US made disconnector (waiting on release) 5. US made hammer (waiting on release) Get a collapsible factory stock. Install a Mesa Tactical rear sling mount above the pistol grip. If you want to run a weapon light, get a Surefire M80 and a Surefire Scout light. Mount the Scout to an offset GearSector mount. Get a GearSector sling mount to attach to the M80 rail. Remove the existing front sling loop. Add a GG&G oversized bolt release. Add Meprolight night sights. Consider adding an Aimpoint T1 or Trijicon RMR. Use either a LaRue or ADM mount respectively. Add a padded VCAS sling with your personal favorite attachment points.
  8. That was my concern! They probably have the correct safety harnesses inside as well. Sounds like you'll actually drive it the way it was meant to be driven. Unlike 99.9% of them on the street. Think about it, when's the last time a vette passed you or got on it from the red light? I like the color too. You're in LA (State) if I recall, who are the tint laws? Are you going to keep it stock? Or lightly mod it?
  9. Outstanding. I haven't kept up on the newer Corvettes, is that a Z06? The driving school sounds fun. Do you use your car or a loaner?
  10. Have you looked at the California Competition speed loaders?
  11. What I have been told is the bottom side angle of the fastener is irregular. I tried to source a replacement set several weeks ago when adding this rail. Kip from carriercomp didn't have a sourced replacement. Furthermore, they use flatheads to reduce the chance of the user from overtorquing the fastener and stripping out the fine aluminum threads. What I did on mine is I added a very small witness mark on each screw that references to a witness mark I put on the rail. This way I can visually inspect if the fastener is backing out on me. I do this on all my screws and nuts. Naturally, blue locktite was also used.
  12. You glanced right over the primary reason: I care that the weight is slowing my reaction time down, or impeding my ability to shoulder the weapon for long periods of time. Hold your shotgun at the ready for 5 minutes. They can get quite heavy fast. Especially on some of those 12, 13 and 14 pound sloths I've seen. I know everyone has "Neca eos omnes. Deus suos agnoset" carved into their door frame. But in reality, not all events will end in a pile of shells and dead bodies. You may have someone at gunpoint until police arrive. If you're lucky, that's within 5 minutes. There is nothing bugout about that. Since you haven't figured out how to aim the weapon at the ground with the weapon light in order to illuminate a threat without putting the muzzle on them, how do you propose seeing in the dark to identify the targets? Everyone should read Todd308's advice. Taking cover in a secure room is the best solution in most cases.
  13. That rear sling mount is sort of a PITA to install. You have to drill out not just the plastic stock, but also the metal bracket inside that acts as a tensioner to the installation nut. It probably took me an hour and a half of trial and error with the drill to get the two ends to meet together in the middle and screw into each other. When using a shotgun, I leave it slung, so I can drop it to my side if needed. When the shotgun is slung, the existing mounts at the rear prevent me from seating the stock into my shoulder pocket.
  14. Reading comprehension is key. Reminds me, I need to buy more rail grease for my M4 to avoid catastrophic failure. Thanks!
  15. Here is the rear sling mount. I'm still waiting for Optic Planet to send me the M80 replacement. This is the same unit needncash has. It's from Mesa Tactical.
  16. Complete barrel assemblies are pricey. You might want to consider going to King Armory and having the existing barrel cut down for just under 300$.
  17. Unfortunately no. Not with the factory or carriercomp top rail at least. The Mesa Tactical and SideArmor unit use their own propitiatory fasteners.
  18. It's not the velco on your kids shoes. This stuff can be a real ******* to get off once fully set.
  19. If I dead set on a shell carrier, I'd use this: http://3gungear.corecommerce.com/Shotgungear/Side-Saddle/8-Shell-Side-Saddle-p23.html It's cheap. It weighs nothing. It squishes flat when not in use. I have the SideArmor rail and shell carrier. The full rail crowds the iron sights. The rail is also raised higher than the factory and carriercomp unit. This exasperates the crowding. The SideArmor carriers are heavy. Even the 4 shell unit I have weighs like 4 or 5 ounces. Then add the weight of each shell to that. 2 ounces each. So if you're rocking a larger 6 or 8 shell carrier, you're looking at a pound in bullets, and probably half a pound in carrier. Then a few additional ounces for the SideArmor top rail. It's quite wide too, it nearly doubles the thickness of the receiver. When carrying slung, this can be less than ideal.
  20. Why not just return it for a refund if you aren't happy with it? It would be very hard to control the plastic with a heat gun in an attempt to conform it to your weapon. It would probably have to be done installed on the weapon, and with the two halves in a vice. There is no guarantee that it would work either. I'd just send it back, wait for the errors to be corrected in house. Then repurchase at a later date.
  21. I considered one, but the biggest issue for me is avoiding additional length. I was playing with the idea of doing the carriercomp setup if I ever get around to doing the Form 1 for the 14". The one that adds an additional round via a mag cap and the comp. It would be shorter than it is now, and hold the functionality.
  22. The factory button looks like a real PITA to try to tap. Probably a pilot hole, then larger to center it. The GG&G are seriously overpriced. They are the best option out there though. It could be improved upon. I've left quite a bit of skin from my knuckles from the serrated edge. Some day when I'm bored I'll grind the lip down and round over the edges a little more. Refinishing it is the PITA for me.
  23. I laughed at Cocktus Tactical. I hate dealing with the poorly managed mom and pop outlets. It's either run by their mail order bride for South East Asia or it's some cranky old ******* yelling at kids on his lawn. Other than having to tap the existing bolt release, what was crap about the Nordic unit?
  24. No winch or onboard air. There isn't much to winch to out here unless I haul sand drags. Hooking to other vehicles would be okay, but I usually go out alone. Plus there is a weight concern for adding a winch bumper. It was set up to do 60mph on rough dirt roads. Just watch out for the wash outs that yard sale the truck. The 3" Fox Shox in the front eat up most of the hits. I only put 2.5" in the rear since it's pretty light back there. The front axle has a full truss welded to it to keep it from smiling. I did a bunch of reinforcements to the steering too. Put in a full cross over steering with HEIM joints. Inch and a half steel tube construction. Extra bracing for the steering box and intermediate shafts.
