  1. Thom, I have a line on another set. I'll put you in contact with him on Monday. He has to find the parts in storage. Or, if others need these. I'm sure we can find more buyers and sellers. The screws are not carried by mcmaster Carr. They're probably some crap from Italy.
  2. The only benefit to having a shell carrier is to have the rounds on the weapon fir a quick grab and go situation. Such cases, you don't have several minutes to gear up. You'd be lucky to have shoes honestly. 7 or 8 rounds of 12 gauge should do most jobs though honestly. I do not want the added bulk and weight associated with a weapon mounted carrier. I do not care about the overall weight of the weapon because it is heavy. I care that the weight is slowing my reaction time down, or impeding my ability to shoulder the weapon for long periods of time. I find a weapon light to be mandatory. Target identification and searching areas for trouble helps when you can see. My property is pretty large and remote. The idea that I would call the police and hide in my closet sucking my thumb every time i hear a noise is laughable. Even the responding Officer would tell you to man up if he was honest. You don't run around like a 'tard with the light on the entire time. I usually slip outdoors in the dark and listen. Usually the dog is going apesh*t if it detects something. It'll track right for it. If you do add a light, pick a simple, lightweight, durable and easy to use model. Something like a Surefire Scout. Mounting options are complex. I've been working on mine for 7 years, and haven't gotten it exactly where I want it. You do not need an optic, but they are nice to have. Again, weight and bulk are the enemy. Something like an Aimpoint T1 or the new Trijicon optics are excellent. I run all slugs, so the optic pushes my effective range out to a 100 yards. Someone will cry that I can't shoot a person legally at that distance. They would be correct in most cases. However, I deal with 4 legged threats on my property that are not afforded such liberal protection.
  3. Flascot007, is that Mod 2 SideArmor rail? Any chance you could weigh it loaded?
  4. Here's the definitive answer. You need to add enough US made parts. To add a full length magazine tube, you need to add 3 US made parts. In order to install a collapsible stock, you must add 4 US made parts. Not just any part will count towards compliance. So here are your options: 1. Full length magazine tube. Kip's from carriercomp is the best value. You get a US made follower and a Wolff spring. 2. Magazine tube follower, see #1. 3. US made forearm. Freedom Fighter Tactical has a stock reproduction unit due for release. It's cheap and lightweight. Surefire has a rail system, the m80. I find the factory stock to be a better solution unless you plan on running a AFG on the bottom rail. 4. Urbino stock. Shorter LOP. 5. Carriercomp hammer, we're waiting on this items release. 6. Carriercomp disconnector, we're waiting on this items release. Currently, no one is in compliance for running a collapsible stock in all honesty. You just can't get enough parts until carriercomp rolls out their hammer and disconnector. Other posters are correct that no one has been busted for this issue. The ATF has said that they use it as a modifier when charging someone for another crime. However, that is right now. Do you get a warm feeling about the Government bureaucracies whom are jockeying for funding and viability? What isn't enforced today, may be tomorrow. So your best bet is to make every effort to become compliant ASAP.
  5. Looks good. I'm redesigning my lighting system in a similar manner. I'm going to use the momentary clicker button on the Scout light, and mount it on a GearSector offset mount. Then mount a GearSector QD sling point at the rear of the left side of the M80 rail. I purchased a AFG2 for the bottom. I plan to cover the excess rail with LaRue Index Clips. Any particular reason why you didn't push the light all the way to the end of the rail? Lack of wire? You should look into the DMW oversized safety. You can reverse it for leftie use (you could do that with the factory unit as well). You can deactivate the safety with the inner side of your trigger fingers knuckle rather than break your trigger finger placement. The GG&G oversized bolt release is nice. Pricey, but well worth it. The carriercomp parts on the horizon will be a nice compliance and function boost.
  6. I might have a line on a set. Won't know till Monday. If another offer shows up, I'll send them your way Sukhoi.
  7. That's the kind of crap I'd like to avoid. Kind of like trying to get parts out of Mesa Tactical. Which I finally said screw it and ordered the sling parts from Magpul to make my own. KiP didn't have any to sell unfortunately.
  8. I can't call them until Monday. I've heard they just give them away, but can take 4 to 6 weeks. I'd rather buy some old ones from someone who doesn't need them. I'm mounting a carriercomp top rail.
  9. Title says it all. Anyone go aftermarket and have this hardware in a junk drawer? I'll give you 25$ for the complete set. Thanks
  10. 2 ounces a shell plus the weight of the carrier itself. California Competition speed loaders are faster, but the shells aren't on the weapon for defense situations. There are also nylon shell carriers that attract to the buttstock. Look at 3 gunner nylon shell carriers. They weigh very little. If you want a metal one, the Sidearmor one is by far the best.
  11. I thought all used the img code in brackets. Flickr really sucks on an ******. Getting it to give up the image URL is a pain.
  12. There are also stripper clips used to load integrated and removable magazines. Example, I have 45 stripper clips for my SKS loaded for Red Dawn II -- Rise of the Bloody Cresent
  13. Mine has always said the same. I believe the file hosting feature is disabled. I use flickr or photobucket.
  14. Sounds good. I was debating on adding the weapon controls, but decided against it. I wasn't sure if I wanted my hand forced into a certain spot that might interfere with rolling the shotgun over for loading. I may move one from my AR over and give it a try before laying out the bucks.
  15. Have any pictures of that Surfrat? The TD covers are nice. I cut them for my AR and fit them between my GearSector gear. Ordered the carriercomp rail too.
  16. Figured what the ****. I ordered the following: Surefire M80 GearSector Offset Mount for a Surefire Scout Light GearSector QD Sling Mount Magpul AFG2 I already have the index clips for it. Now I need a carriercomp top rail. But I have to source some mounting screws and washers. I sold the old rail years ago.
  17. I'd like to try the M80 with an AFG 2 and a GearSector offset Scout mount for my light. Then cover the unused rail with LaRue index clips. The price of admission is high though.
  18. It seems to be very durable. I don't see any scratches on my carriercomp tube. They use it on RMJ tactical blades and I've beat mine to ****. It wears on the edges, but doesn't chip off. I used mine to get some idiot out of the truck of his car in the summer time. Idiot locked his keys in the trunk. So he pulled the back seat out and tried to crawl through a hole through the sheet metal. He didn't fit, so he used pliers and bent the edges a little to widen it. He then forced himself through the hole and tried to find the keys in the dark. He was unsuccessful and the barbed edges of the sheet metal dug into his torso. He started panicing and screaming, which cut him up worse. His friend got my attention and quickly figured out how screwed he was. He had been in the trunk for about 10 minutes already and it was 110 F outside. Pulling on him wasnt working and he was already bleeding pretty good. So I made the choice to pop his trunk lock with the point end of the tomahawk. Within 10 hits, I knocked out the lock and was able to pry he release open. Once open, we were able to free him fairly easily. It was an older 80's car with no release tab inside. It was a beater type car anyway, so it wasn't like we were cutting open an expensive car. And yes, alcohol did play a role. And yes, he said it was very loud. Blade damage was minimal. Just some large burs and scrapes. The finish scraped off the high spots. So yes, cherkote is tough stuff.
  19. It should be fine. Just use blue locktite for reassembly. You won't need as much heat to break its hold.
  20. I'm on my third attempt on trying to get the replacement hardware. I'm about to say screw it and build my own with the magpul unit we discussed. I know the second I order it, the hardware will arrive. So you're running all slugs now too? Nice! I had to use mine last night to check out the yard. Someone did a stop and go at our gate. My mother lives with me now, and she is involved in a B&E case that is going through a jury trial. So she's a bit spooked at night since she's the primary witness. Needless to say, the Meprolights that everyone bemoans are quite bright if you live in a area that you can see more than 10 stars.
  21. The only issue with the tazer is you end up with a batman utility belt as a civilian. The tazer isn't small. So you'd have to be really dedicated to carry it, a pistol, spare mag(s), a flash light, cellphone, keys, knife and so on... You'd probably be better served by using OC spray. Some real nasty stuff like Fox 5.3. Most events happen within 5 seconds and at arms reach and at night. Too many options can lead to confusion and higher training requirements than most can reasonably afford in time and money. If a shooting occurs, tell the police that you want to fully cooperate with them, but you want the council of a lawyer. The police are not your friends. They will seem caring and understanding while speaking with you so that you run your mouth right after the most stressful moment in your life. After such an event, you will have diarrhea of the mouth, fight the urge to seek reassurance for your actions. Tell them only the basics that you are the victim. The subject attacked you or a third party with great physical injury or death. If That's it. Depending on who was shot will influence how aggressive the district attorney will peruse the case. If some drifter is shot with no connected family, it will be open and shut. If you shoot the mayors dirt bag adult son, expect a Sh*t storm. This applies to anyone with a well to do family. I work for a Federal agency and interface with other Federal, local and county law enforcement regularly. I often see a clear distinction on how a case is handled based on who they are. It doesn't matter what race they are, it's about who can apply pressure to officials. They will threaten to detain you and take you to the station. Don't worry about it. Lawyer up.
  22. Far less trouble than a 590 that's for sure. I'm not a good example though. My side of Az has very little humidity. However, I've drenched it in sweat and never bothered to re-oil afterwards. There is no finish burning or prints. I don't have corrosive sweat like some guys do. Mine has been rained on quite a few times too. Oiled rags never show the signs of surface rust, ie: red hued patches with oil or solvent when I bother to clean it. The rest of the shotgun is type 3 anodized and stainless steel. The res
