  1. My M4 is close by, loaded with 2 3/4 1 ounce hollow point slugs. My nearest neighbor is several hundred yards away through thick brush. After shooting many feral animals with buck and slugs, I feel the slugs offer a better fight stopper. Buckshot isn't as destructive as you would think. I have little use for the spread pattern. The M4 choke is pretty damn tight at fight ranges. A one ounce slug moving at 1600+ fps has about 6 - 8 times the impact force as a 230gn 45acp. Generally, I grab the AR15 over the Benelli though. More capacity, greater precision, much more compact, lighter overall weight, less chance of over penetration and range. I also prefer the safety of the AR over the Benelli.
  2. Mine can be tough to push too. Try pushing the shell itself inward while you press the release. This will take the tension off of the paw and should allow it to dump into your hand.
  3. None of these listings have the parts you need? http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=0/sid=570/schematicsdetail/Super_Black_Eagle http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=0/sid=682/schematicsdetail/Super_90_M1_Field
  4. I will note that there have been reports of people putting 4 port barrels in other M4's. These 4 port barrels pop up from time to time on auction sites. Most smarter owners had Benelli replace their 4 port barrels with a 2 port unit. So if you're buying a used M4, I'd recommend you ask before committing to buy an "as is" shotgun.
  5. No M1014's had the 4 port barrels. The 4 port abortions were only released on the 11703 models.
  6. The Nordic must be disassembled every time you field strip the weapon. The old and newer side armor do not require that.
  7. Yeah, that's the barrel clamp model I mentioned.
  8. For anyone who has used an over and under or a side by side shotgun, you know how quick it is to swing the shotgun to your target. This is due to the low amount of weight up front. The Benelli M4 isn't too heavy, but a lighter weight shotgun is quicker. So any chance you get to cut the weight down from your weapon is generally a good thing. If you must add an optic and/or light, pay careful attention to the weight. You're better off putting additional shells on your body rather than on the weapon. Figure each additional shell adds about 2 ounces to your weapon. It sounds like the proposed rail from Sidearmor is what you might be interested in. I know I plan on selling my rail and moving to it when it is released. I wish Freedom Fighter Tactical would sell a forearm replacement that simply had a small place for a picatinny rail section.
  9. If you want a minimalist 2 shell carrier that will attach anywhere, look into 3 gunner gear. It adds no weight except the shells. Not exactly the prettiest option, but it is the lightest. No rails needed either. Adding 27 ounces is a bad idea. Any speed you'd gain NY having the shells that close would be lost from lugging a heavy ass gun around. This is the main reason 3 gunners use the M2 over the M4. Weight.
  10. I'm waiting for Freedom Fighter Tactical to release their stock reproduction unit. For now, I'm back to stock. The Sidearmor rail is a better rail system for mounting lights. They are working on a smaller minimalist version that offers just the side mounts via a barrel clamp that doesn't interfere with disassembly.
  11. Yes. Basically a newer version of it. I had the old one but sold it. Wish I still had it.
  12. I had one. But I returned it. I find the factory handguards to be vastly more comfortable. I also hated where NY mounted items ended up on the rail. The light for example would end up interfering with the placement of my hand. With or without rail covers it felt too big. Like holding onto a pringles can. It added some weight too. Any reduction gained with the titanium tube would be lost to it. It's only real redeeming value was it counted towards 922 parts compliance.
  13. Old school Sidearmor. I spoke with Sidearmor recently, and they informed me that a newer rail is in the works. It doesn't replace the top rail at all. It's meant to be a lightweight light mount that holds closer to the barrel centerline. I'll be buying one when released. Their full rails add too much weight for just mounting a light.
  14. Disassemble to remove. Load a live round to see if the problem persists. This will establish where the problem is. Gun or the snap cap.
  15. Yes. Once you remove the snap ring, the sling mount will slip off. It then can be reindexed to whatever position you want. Then reinstall the snap ring.
  16. The only person who might take on such a project would be carriercomp. Not sure if he's really interested in doing it though. I'd be all over a 7075 aluminum unit. I don't see it happening any time soon though. Few are willing to go through the trouble of taking it off for a nominal weight savings. Polishing wouldn't hurt, but I doubt you'd see any beneficial result honestly. Coating it would probably yield better results. Np3+ would be a good one. Maybe ion bonding.
  17. Thanks for the info king. You guys do any forcing cone work? Also, is the entire weapon needed, or just the barrel for sight alignment issues? Or do you just ball park it and adjust with the windage and elevation adjustments on the sights?
  18. Best way to deal with the middle position is to run an optic. I use the T1 and the height is perfect. Use of the iron sights is doable, but not intuitive. A skilled machinist could mill additional grooves. However, they might not heat treat them like the factory does. Note the discoloration on each groove. There is a m1014 tube on gunbroker right now if I recall. They go for a premium due to people needing them in commie States. Numrich only has 2 and 3 position tubes. None of which are properly marked. The stripped units are 2 position, and the more expensive complete assemblies are 3 position.
  19. Well, I ordered a stripped recoil tube from Numrich Arms today. The unit is only a 2 position tube. Fail. It's being returned. They weren't kidding about it being stripped. It doesn't even have the flexible ring that retains the plunger from pushing all the way through. I think it is part 49 from Brownells on the schematic. I'll take a picture of all 3 styles of tube next to each other for identification purposes. Buyer beware.
  20. It's required when creating a Short Barreled Shotgun, which is a NFA regulated weapon. Much of that can be bypassed with a Gun Trust. Albeit, this is initially a little more expensive to start up, but has some inheritance and use advantages. You can skip the finger printing, photos and most importantly the CLEO sign off. The tan M4 isn't mine. Just one I saw somewhere else who did the barrel work through King.
  21. The income difference is worth considering. I made that choice myself when I escaped the PRC. Sure, I'd make more money there. I'd also pay 5x as much for a home 2x smaller than I have now. I could pay their great tax rate as well and get nothing for a return. I could succumb to the State revenue generators for every minor infraction. Out here, the milky way is visible every moonless night. Coyotes howl in the distance every so often. Want to go hiking at night with the Benelli? No problem, the only thing stopping you here is laziness. When I lived in the PRC, we'd have to drive 200 miles to get away from people. We ended up near Baker, California three times a year to escape. Here, I can walk onto Federal BLM land from my house and be lucky to see or hear anyone all day long. I heard more gunfire in LA at night than I do out here. Where do you think I feel safer? Multiculturalism helll or here where evil citizens carry guns? Take a trip, avoid the big cities like Phoenix or Tuscon. Avoid the tourist traps. Starve these other liberal helll holes out of their revenue until they start feeding upon themselves (already happening.) A living wage where you are free is far better than more where you're a slave.
  22. I held the chainsaw grip model at shot. It's a rusty coat hanger abortion. It's nothing but a gun that gives antigunners ammunition. It is meant to be fired from the hip. Working the action is not comfortable at all.
