  1. You might have to return it. Sounds out of spec. Or maybe a bur?
  2. Good thing my mouth isn't shown huh Texan.
  3. Benelliwerks is correct about movement in such confined areas. Often times, a pistol is drastically better than even a SBR or subgun due to proximity and weapon control. It allows you to defend with your support hand, and still have proper control over the weapon to deliver a solid hit. With a rifle or shotgun, the barrel can be leveraged away from you. This is why falling back and protecting a secure area from some sort of cover is advised. Your goal should be to collect your family members and take cover. Vocal commands about GTFO would be warranted, but I wouldn't hold a conversation with them and give away your exact location. Just cops are on the way, and GTFO and that you are armed.
  4. I'd rather the light be on the right side of the weapon, but then activation becomes complicated. Naturally this is set up for a righty. Using a switch like the SR07 would cure this, but creates it's own set of problems. Mainly wire looming issues. Pressing the SR07 switch from the side rails isn't really the most comfortable. On my AR platform, I prefer it on the 12 o'clock position.
  5. The sling setup would be fine for a transition drill. Mainly it is just hard to recover the shotgun from a behind the back sling carry. If you dump it to the front weak side, it isn't even an issue. Yeah, you have to drill it out quite a bit. The plastic grip is easy to drill out. There is a metal block inside the collapsible stock that must be drilled out. It's the block that retains the threaded nut that the pistol grip screws onto the recoil tube. You drive out the roll pin that is there. The hardware in the new version screw together in the center of the grip. So getting everything drilled out correctly and aligned so that you can screw them together can be a real pain. A lot of trial and error is involved. Once the mod is done, there is no going back without replacing some parts. However, if you 86'ed the sling mount for whatever reason, you could just leave the hardware in place without the sling mount cup to perform the job of holding the threaded nut in place. Mesa had several versions of this mount. I originally received one that used a huge acorn nut on the right side of the pistol grip. That poked my trigger finger and was not comfortable at all. With the new version, I cannot feel it at all. You'd be safe buying directly from Mesa.
  6. It can be a real PITA to install. There are multiple versions of it out there. So be careful where you buy. If you buy an old one, Mesa will replace it if you ask. It does not hit my thumb. However, the post is sort of long, so it causes the shotgun to want to roll away from your body when slung behind you. I find the pistol grip is usually pressed into my back.
  7. Rocket, Do you plan to use the GearSector offset mount for the X400? If so, the modification would be identical. The rubber simply needs to be trimmed. You can see the modification in this photo: Removal of this small piece of rubber does nothing to affect the fit of the M80 rail. My GearSector mount is overhanging the end of the rail slightly to push the light as far forward as possible. The cross bolt is on the first picatinny rail slot. I'll try to get a shot of the M80 with the light removed.
  8. Both Russian girls will fight you the same.
  9. Nope, Nelli is all mine! Yes, the top section is a rubberized plastic material that attaches to the aluminum extrusion where the rails are actually on. The rubberized portion conforms around the piston assembly. No metal touches the barrel assembly. When you mount the rail assembly to the barrel, you push it through the rubberized portion. I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to remove the rail from the barrel portion without taking off the light, but that wasn't the case. So the entire lighting assembly is one piece. Take it off and throw on the stock guards. Now, imagine this on a 14" gun.
  10. I decided against the AFG grip. Not worth the weight and too restrictive in hand placement. I might move the front sling mount up against the Scout mount.
  11. Here you can see where I had to modify the M80 to allow the GearSector mount to fit.
  12. I keep tipping back and forth between the Scar 17 and a LaRue OBR. I keep siding with the Scar because the LaRue would turn into a 6k boondoggle. Plus the Scar is seriously light weight.
  13. All will be very pleased with this turn of events. I just hope we aren't voting by the time it is released.
  14. Finally got a M80 that didn't have bent rails today. I didn't have too much time today before leaving for the night. However, I did fit the GearSector mount to the M80. I had to remove some rubber to allow for clearance. I tapped the mount over the rail with a small 8 ounce hammer to score a mark on the rubber. This mark is the clearance line. The rubber cut easily with rotory power tools. I ground down to the line and back as far as needed to mount the mount. It took me about 20 minutes taking my time. I only had to remove about 3/8" of rubber for maybe an inch. The unit installs to the barrel with the light in place. I had some concerns that it would interfere. I'm using black LaRue index clips for rail covers. It's still wider than the factory forearm, but it isn't anywhere as bad as when I used xtm covers in the past. The LaRue clips feel like the ladder rails in size, but offer more grip, protection, heat protection and are easier to rearrange. Most other covers must be cut to fit. I have an AFG1 and a AFG2 to try. I'm not sold on them yet. I hope the grip alone will be sufficient. The light placement is perfect. It's close to the barrel and up out of the way at the 10:30 position. The momentary button is easy to hit, but not in the way. Sling mounting to the M80 is excellent. I'm using a GearSector QD mount at the very back of the left side rail. I bought a new black Surefire m600c for this project. I'll take some photos tomorrow after I figure out which grip or no grip to use.
  15. Great seller. Fast shipping across the country. Couldn't have been happier. Thanks!
  16. Interesting. What makes the mystery meat company superior to if you had manufactured them in house? In reality, are we looking at a release of 12 to 18 months?
  17. Look what hope got you in 2008. It's obviously a scam post to up their post count enough to list url's.
  18. Ruh roh! Instant fence sitters buyers remorse. 3...2...1...
  19. You sure FFT makes one? I just looked at their site and didn't see one? Needncash did a review for one that you had to tap yourself. He said it was full of fail. I believe it was from Nordic.
  20. If you get some Alumablack, you could probably cover over that scuff fairly well. My M4 has been beat to ****, and once in a while I'll use it to cover up the scuffs.
  21. needncash got it. What optic is that? Is that a scuff on the back of the receiver near the stock? You'd do yourself a huge favor by getting a full length titanium magazine tube to spare yourself 5 ounces.
