  1. I Believe the gun came with the "B" shim installed. I went to the the "D" shim which is what gives me the best fit, and also the shim I use in my other Benellis'. It shot high throughout the process of shimming and then patterning. I patterned it with the point of aim circled, and the point of impact 16" high on the paper and sent the target along w/ the gun back to Benelli. It came back w/ a target that they shot and whatever they did, it fixed the problem. They sent a work order along w/ the fixed gun, but I could not read the guys writing!! So I guess I will never know what they did.. Thanks for the info.
  2. I have an SBE ll that shot 16" above point of aim. I talked to a regional Benelli Rep. and he told me that is how they are set up so you can "float" your target above the bead. This may work on the trap field, but when hunting partridge in dense cover, they have to shoot where you point. At least for me. I then called C.S. and they handled it well. I had the gun back in three weeks, shooting to point of aim. Not sure how they fixed it, it was not rebarreled. They did put a larger bead on it, but that would not have made that big of difference at twenty yards, I do not think. I know this is too much information, but my point is to call C.S. and feel them out. Happy Hunting....
  3. When Benelli makes one, I will consider your idea.
  4. It's all about pellet count. An extra handful here and there never hurt anyone.
  5. I understand and agree with all of the above. I did not mean nor did I want to disrespect you in any way. As a relative newcomer to this Forum,I see newbie's ask seemingly innocent questions, and then get slaughtered by the old timers. This obviously was not the case. I am sorry I took it the wrong way.. Keep up the good work. I don't have any Taylor Fladgate, but some Crown Royal on the rocks and an Artuero Fuente Maduro is in order.
  6. That's what I was trying to say. The only exception is that instead of one projectile, there are about a dozen. They will be close together but there is still 12 of them. P.S. I enjoy reading your posts and replies...
  7. Do you tickle the feet or do you go right to the armpits?
  8. Let me rephrase. It would be easier for me to hit someone or something, in the dark in a stressful situation, with a shotgun loaded with buck shot than a pistol that I don't shoot accurately to begin with. Hope that helps..
  9. This is a situation that you probably will never be in. Realistically. And you really don't know what you will do when the time comes. One thing is certain. You had better be familiar with the weapon you have in your hands, whatever it may be, so when the time comes you can focus at what is at hand and not on what it takes to shoot the gun. Again, I am not a pro, and this only is my humble opinion. I enjoy your insight and read your replies. Keep up the good work.
  10. In your reply, you state that a cell phone should be at your disposal. I agree, and do have that. The weapon should be "one that you can shoot accurately and be reliable in a stressful situation". This I also have, but it's not a .45 w/ a light. It happens to be a shotgun, that I have thousands of rounds shot through it, and could shoot it while half asleep, in a stressful situation, and most importantly, hit what I was shooting at. I do have a dog, although she is not half wolf, she is a formidable foe and would have to be dealt with. I will admit, I am an amateur when it comes to home defense, but rest assured, if they get past the dog, I will have something for them. I deeply respect your opinion but not the holier than thou attitude.
  11. There are a lot of people on the golf course that can't break 100, or 120 for that matter. Enjoying what you are doing is the point of any particular recreation. Some are better at it than others, but you are there for the fun. If you happen to be good at what you enjoy doing, then the numbers will be on your side. Having a good day at the trap range is all relative to what you shot yesterday. Good luck with your shooting..
  12. I have a SBE ll and I have probably shot twenty cases of Estate trap loads without a single failure. It may be a little tight at first, but after a few rounds, you should be fine. Make sure you keep the rails lubed, that will help. Good luck!
  13. I'll take the 12 ga. anyday. I'm not very good with a pistol in the daylight, night time would really be a problem. The less aimimg the better for me. With the buckshot you need only be reasonably close to center mass to get the job done.
  14. I guess you could say there was a jellyhead on both ends of the gun.
  15. I've tried the Jellyhead with Winchesters' Extended Range #6's and it fell off after 30 yards. At 40 yds. it was ugly. Have not tried Heavy Shot.
  16. Bigger is not necessarily better, but it can be. A little more lead or steel in the air can do nothing but help. It is certainly not a replacement for good shooting but a few extra pellets is not going to hurt anything either. If your not on what your shooting at, all the pellets in the world won't help. I shoot both a 12 and a 20 and love them both. Shoot straight..
  17. I can't agree more. For those of us up in the north woods, gloves are worn more often than not.
  18. I don't use a light mod. but I think the answer is in how fast you are on the birds. If you pick them up fast and shoot quickly, you may be alright. IMHO, the tighter the choke the better. If you don't pick the bird up right away, the tighter pattern will be an advantage. Good Luck!
  19. If the 20 ga. is what you like, stick with it. I would consider going to the autoloader as shown above. I have a 20 ga. Legacy and it is a shooting machine. Maybe a little too flashy for a duck blind, but there are other 20 ga.'s in different variations, I'm sure you can find one that fits your fancy. Good luck..
  20. I have a Legacy in 20 ga. and it is my favorite gun to trap shoot with. I like everything about it.Except maybe loading the thing. She's a little hard on the thumb..
  21. If everything else was equal, the larger trigger guard would make the decision for me. The 3.5" capability is bonus. SBE II all the way.
  22. You will not regret buying the 20 gauge. Now you have something to look forward to when you eventually buy the 12. And you will eventually buy the 12.. Good luck.
  23. Someone asked me why I shot a 3.5 " mag. for turkeys. My reply was, " because they don't make a 4" mag.
