  1. I've heard that it's not as gamey as bald eagle, and not near as fishey as whooping crane. I think maybe more like blue heron.
  2. I don't know if there is a magic answer to your question. I have a Nova and a SuperNova. Both were a little "clunky" out of the box' and still are. I wouldn't consider either to be rough. I think if you run some shells through it, maybe even a box of big stuff, it may loosen up to your liking. This thing is brand new and probably won't be as smooth as a gun with thousands of rounds through it. I do smell what you are stepping in though, and agree that it should be good to go ,"out of the box". You have some time to break it in, so have some fun and go shoot it! Keep it well oiled,i.e. the action, the bolt rails etc. I am sure that in the end, you will like the gun... There are some SuperNova Gurus out there that can give you more hands on advice. Stay tuned... Keep us posted.... By the way, welcome to the Forum and to the world of Benelli.
  3. I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.
  4. Welcome... And a fine choice in a shotgun I might add. I too will let the left hand thing slide. Enjoy!!
  5. This is true. But 1500 ducks is still 1500 ducks. If they cooked 12 for every meal, they could have duck 125 times a year. They must really like duck!! Boom, Boom, Boom...
  6. Glad to hear you got it worked out. The gun has to shoot where you point, regardless of how you point it. It has to be set the way you are comfortable to shoot, whether you float the target or cover it up. Knock 'em dead...
  7. I had a set that was similar to those on my turkey gun before I put on the Aimpoint. They worked really well, especially in low light conditions. All you need is a little ambient light and they light up like a christmas tree. The problem that I had was that the recoil was so bad that they would move after every shot. The ones I used were Truglo also. That being said, it looks like the ones in the link you provided are built better i.e. they have several screws to tighten down on the rib. They are built for slugs so I think they would work. If you can keep them from moving they absolutely will work for your bear hunt. It should be a slam dunk at 25-35 yards. Let me know which way you end up going. Good luck...
  8. Are you going with the saddle mount or the drilled and tapped base?
  9. That looks like a winner. If your SuperNova is not drilled and tapped already, you will need to have it done. Probably less than $50. That is the way to go! No bulky and unsightly side saddle to deal with. Good luck.
  10. Interesting. I would marinate them in Italian dressing overnight and grill them the next day. Breasts only. Either way, you can't go wrong.
  11. If you put the thickest shim in and it still shoots high, try putting the Nova bead in. You have the bead so you really have nothing to lose. It will make the point of impact lower because of the size. If you want it to shoot where you point it may be all that is needed. Good luck...
  12. On Saturdays episode they said they shot 1500 ducks in one season. Not sure what year they said. That's a lot of duck soup. The show still rocks...
  13. Nice to see that you drive a foreign car..
  14. How do you cook those doves? Just curious..
  15. Would you have the wolf mounted if you kill one? That's something you don't get to see everyday. Love to have one in my rec. room.. Good luck with the hunt!!
  16. I use soap and water, when needed. Other than a little dirt or mud, there is not much grime that builds up on them. A damp rag will clean it just fine. Congrats on the new shotgun, you will love it. Keep it clean and oiled and it will not let you down. Good luck with it...
  17. Nice mess of doves! I really like that special windshield wiper dove holder. You don't see them much anymore. I had the turkey version but it really didn't work out that well. Nice shooting!! Where on the planet did you get them?
  18. I guess I assumed that you had the gun shimmed properly and it was shooting high and left. Hopefully the shimming will do the trick. Keep us informed.

As far as secrets go, break the gun in with some hunting loads. This will help loosen it up, if in fact it needs it. Keep it cleaned and oiled. Lubrication is a wonderful thing! It won't be long before you make this your go to gun.. Enjoy!

It's the nature of the beast. Being that it is recoil operated, it does not bleed off any of the gases to operate the ejection. The gun is also on the light side so that may add to the kick. Unless you do trap shoot with it, there won't be many days when you put a hundred or two rounds through it. You'll get used to it. Shoot straight..
  21. That is about as simplified as it gets. A no nonsense, easy to understand approach that anyone can understand. You do this forum a great justice.. Please keep it up. Thanks Tucker!!
  22. I'm sure that this will help. I don't know about the shooting left thing..maybe just pulling it. The larger front sight will help. Hope it is enough.... Keep us informed. Boom, Boom, Boom.
  23. Don't reallyy know why, but I own 2 Novas and both of them have the large bead. I have a SBE ll that shot about 15'' high at 20 yds. Sent it back to Benelli and one of the things they did was to put the large bead on it. I could not read the writing on the work order so I don't know what else they did. When I got it back, it shot dead nuts where I pointed it. I hunt a lot of partridge and you need a gun that shoots where you point. Being from Wi., you know what I'm talking about. If the bead on your Nova is larger, I would take it off and try it. You have nothing to lose. good luck.. Mike
  24. You could try putting a larger type bead on the front. Like the beads used on the Novas. The bigger diameter will make you shoot lower. This does not help the shooting to the left problem though. Just a thought.. Good luck.
