Xpert 3" 1-1/4oz #2's and a half dozen boxes of 3.5" BB's...along with maybe a mixed case of Fiocchi 3" 1-1/4oz 2's and 4's...that'll last me a few years and they kill just fine.

I have a 22 y/o HK SBE with a very early serial# - U0025XX. I contacted BCS in 2009 for a repair and they told me they didn't have any of the early HK serial numbers to work with but had me send it to them anyway...they replaced all of the internals at no cost to me...pretty stand up customer service by Benelli. I would be interested to find out if HK still has an archived serial numbers list of their Benelli imports .

25 lbs huh? Don't think so. I've hunted Giant Canadas for 30 years in SE Washington with guys who've been guiding and shooting them for over 45 years and they average 7-12 lbs with the biggest ever taken at just under 15 lbs. Unless you got a near world record...huh uh! The 70 yd shot...did you measure the distance the same way you estimated the weight of the goose? Just askin?

la1cajun It doesn't sound as if it is in a tactical configuration...I'd suspect that it is just a normal Benelli M1 super 90 . As for the reliability...0ne misfire...there can be many man caused misfires and failures to eject. I learned through experience to always let the bolt close with the bolt button, never hand close the bolt...the bolt head must rotate & seat properly for the gun to function properly...it sounds as if the gun really doesn't have any issues...

Collectable? Not yet but they do hold their value pretty well. Your LNIB 1998 Monte is worth more now than what it originally sold for.

It sounds like you have may have a replacement barrel. I don't believe the barrel would have the serial number of the reciever stamped on it.

You may want to consider a DuraCoat or CeraCoat refinish for your barrel. I had my SBE barrel refinished with the DuraCoat and am extremily happy with it. I sent it out but you can refinish it at home...there is a kit available. If your shotgun get used a lot in the field and isn't a safe queen, I would recommend the DuraCoat. The Benelli Sport came with two different sizes of full-length vented ribs made from carbon fiber. I shoot skeet with a guy that has owned and shot one for years and he loves it. He just upgraded to a Super Sport II. His son now shoots the Sport. They both love them. It's a Benelli so it is without question a high quality shotgun designed for a lifetime of use. They weigh just under 7 lbs. Be more specific! My Monty, SBE and Vinci shoot everything I load in them and through every choke I put in them.

On the Rolling Thunder Drill, 6 guys address 5 steel targets. Shooter #1 fires at target #1. Then shooter #2 shoots target #1. Then shooter 3, 4, 5, and 6. Six hollers, "Out!!" Then shooter #1 shoots targets 1 and 2. Then shooter #2 does the same, all the way down the line. Upon hearing #6 yell "Out!", shooter #1 shoots 1, 2, and 3, and so on. The problem is that you have to reload the shotgun before it is your turn to shoot again. For loads, I use a high base #6 and #5 for pheasant. Federal Premium Prairie Storm works very well, just a bit pricey. If they're really holding tight maybe a first shot of heavy 7-1/2. As for gear, good comfortable boots, brush pants and a quality vest and you should be good to go. Good luck and happy hunting.

Hello, Dave from Jersey...welcome aboard. I agree that the new Vinci and Super Vinci are at the very top of the shotgun chain...I bought a Vinci last year and love it. I also have an original HK Import 22 year old Super Black Eagle that I still shoot. Comparing the two, I liken the SBE to a 66 427 Corvette and the new Super Vinci to a modern 2011 Z06 Corvette...both reliable and functional and fast as heck but the new model is just a very refined version of the old.

I prefer a modified for trap and a skeet for skeet. IC or Cylinder will work for skeet also. Shot my first ever 50 straight in trap this year with a modified in my 22 year old HK/Benelli Super Black Eagle. I'll us the IM for handicap of 20+ yards.

As far as I can tell, Benelli does not offer any magazine extentions for the Vinci line...yet. FYI - it is a modular piece and is not interchangeable with any other Benelli models.

Yes, but you must use an SBE2 forearm or have Benelli modify the SBE1 forearm to fit the SBE2 barrel and you must use crio chokes.

I have one and have used it on my SBE. To make it work properly, you must either use a SBE II forearm when you are using the SBE II barrel or you can send a SBE I forearm to Benelli and they will modify it to work with the SBE II barrel. REMEMBER THAT YOU MUST USE CRIO CHOKES TOO! In my case, I purchased a SBE II forearm which I use on the SBE I when I use the type II barrel. Hope this helps.
