Hey didja hear about the new Osama Bin Laden drink? Two shots and a splash of water.

Not in California.

Does anyone have a product that works for touching up the finish on their M4 barrel? I did a little experiment with BC Perma Blue with less than stellar results. It's obviously not a huge deal but I'm hoping that there is something that will get close to whatever finish is on there. Thanks.

Are you talking about a standard field stock...........for an M4? If so you should be aware that it is a much rarer bird than the standard PG stock. Going price for the field stock is $200+ and mostly folks can't give away the PG models. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=227257359

Agreed. Also, if you have the ability to measure (with dial calipers), would you be willing to determine the final thickness of the end of the barrel? Also, while you are at it, could you measure the inside diameter at the barrel end? Thanks man.

I'm looking at doing this very same thing but having King Armory do the work. It should be easy enough to re-solder the front sight using ribbon silver and just the right amount of heat on the sight lug. The real question I have is.............are you using a 2 or a 4 port barrel. Are you having any cycling issues at all? Looks sweet but I think I would want the front sight on mine. One more question, what did you do, if anything, for the mag cam detent? Or did you just simply tighten the mag cap against that hand guard lug? If so, does it work loose when firing? Thanks!

It should be standard practice for you to completely field strip any weapon you purchase and do a thorough clean and lube before you fire any rounds. Most firearms are shipped not with lube but corrosion preventative since the manufacturer has no idea how long it will sit on a shelf somewhere.

The color of the carriercomp tube is an exact Cerakote (durable baked on finish) match to the factory finish on the barrel. I'm not sure what FFT does to theirs but I do know that it isn't coated. I'm sure the FFT tube is a great tube so you just have to choose which one you like best. As for heating the receiver, I didn't do mine that way. I used my heat gun on the low setting and directed the heat on the portion of the mag tube closest to the receiver. As soon as it starts smoking a little (from the loctite heating up), you can start turning. You may have to apply the heat a couple more times to get it to fully release but you do not have to direct the heat to the receiver.

I was told that they wouldn't be doing another run until June. The guy I spoke with said to wait until mid-May and then contact them. He wanted to make sure my part wasn't just laying around and he would rather have it just beefwhore they started production.

I can't tell you whether it will fit or not but if you remove the carrier latch from your SBE 2 and sent it to GG&G, they will modify it for you and you will save about $40. Spoke to them myself about doing this and I have two different ones I am going to have them do.

Thanks for the update Kip. Knowing how busy you are makes it that much more appreciated and hopefully will give Geiselle some slack in answering the flood of communication that they must be encountering. Will look forward to the final products.

Sounds reasonable. If they will give it to you for free and in their format then I see that as a bonus. Yeah i saw he had sold a couple of them. I think I'm gonna just wait and see what happens. -

Oooooh, didjoo buy a barrel? And, can't you just print those off of the website? -
Sorry, I'm just not that sensitive to recoil. And, if your cheek was bleeding, like you say, after 3-4 days of shooting then I would think you are not shouldering the weapon properly. I have never had that happen and I do multiple days of skeet and chukkar hunting each year where it isn't uncommon to put up several hundred birds a day.
-
Inertia-driven recoil is nothing. Maybe if you're "sensitive" but then maybe you shouldn't be shooting a 12 gauge. The Benelli inertia-driven guns are simple, reliable, and effective. They blow away any gas-operated semi-auto IMHO (well, maybe except for the M4). YMMV

This is most likely your problem. If you are trying to p u s s y around with the pump you will most likely encounter problems, especially on a new gun. Rack it like you mean it, with the safety on and your finger OFF the trigger, and report back soldier.

Is there something I'm missing here? I don't read that the OP is having cycling issues, rather that the bolt doesn't lock after the last round. Sounds to me like there is something wrong with the carrier latch. Can you manually lock the bolt back? If not maybe there is some crud in there keeping it from locking back or maybe the latch itself is the problem. Is it possible that it would be cycling rounds just fine but not have enough oompf to lock the bolt back? Doesn't seem like that would be the case. Have you called Benelli?

That's correct. It's a dull, flat hue.

Here's a hypothetical. What if you have two M4's, one in standard 18.5" configuration and one entry model SBS that IS registered. Can you legally possess a second SBS barrel since you already have a registered SBS? Just food for thought. -
