  1. I took mine to Gander Mtn, best $20 I spent! I checked to be sure they had another M4 on the shelf beforehand. Even the 'smith came out panting(20min later) so at that point I knew the 30min drive and $20 was SOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo worth it!. Then, just be sure to clean out the threads on your receiver and such. Enjoy the new tube!!

  11. The Shotty used for all of my following photos was: Benelli M4 18-inch barrel equipped with Carlson's Breacher Choke. All targets were fired upon from a distance of 30ft. My first dimension will be the pattern size on HEAD target, the second will be CENTER MASS. There are(should be) a series of ten photos. This is about the extent of what is readily available to me short of mail-ordering and 3-inch shells. During a previous testing I performed I found that the 3-inch shells consistently patterned worse(waaay wider) than 2.75-inch shell. Also I am sorry for the lack of photo quality w/ the white-target photos. Had my pocket camera along instead of SLR for that shoot. Was my testing super-dooper scientific? NOPE! Am I being endorsed by anybody? NOPE! Did I have fun doing it? YEP! Next should be what a slug can do to. . . .. . (insert your LEGAL target of choice here.) I hope you all enjoy the photos. TUCKER. . . thanks to your post from 2007 for teaching me how to post photos!!! BIG BIG help!!!! This is Sellier & Bellot 2.75" OO Bk, 9 pellet. 5.5-inch / 7.75-inch
  12. Your Nova into tactical - you'd be farther ahead selling yours and buying it done and assembled from Benelli for COST EFFECTIVENESS. Now. . . if it's because you want to "build" (i.e. assemble) your own, then have at it with many resources to play. Hopefully it's a 12ga, because there isn't crap out there for the 20ga! As for backboring your barrel, here is ONE of many many many resources out there. gives you an idea of price. http://www.briley.com/2009/shotgungunsmithingpricing.html As for Nova vs. Vinci, sorry, not my market of shotty, so I will allow someone w/ more knowledge to help.
  13. Tucker, That looks absolutely stunning!!! That's about like Halle Berry in a bikini(or no bikini like Swordfish!) I looked at their website, and the water beading off the stock paintjob was incredible as well. Thanks for sharing!
  14. WOW....you're more powerful than the dark-side of the Force! You ARE a powerful Jedi indeed! If you could sell that kind of wifely-persuasion on here, it'd be worth more than $1k!!!
  15. Kip.... WOW!!!..... I never knew titanium could be so beautiful, even if most of it is coated(very nicely I may add!!!) I'm half tempted to order a polished one just to hang in my cube @ work!! Now I totally understand why people are willing to wait for any future products from Kip @ CarrierComp!! Thanks again and nicely done!! A very happy customer! 2-wheel
  16. Doc, you said; "First the recoil is considerably less significant than my 12ga O/U Weatherby. 5 boxes of shells would leave me with a bruise shooting the Weatherby, this is no big deal, in fact I'm planning on shooting at a charity event tomorrow." Now you're scaring me!! I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a Browning 625 Sporting, possibly GP Sporting. Are you saying I should forget it? NO NO NO, NOT selling or trading the Supersport! But.....to keep this Benelli oriented, I'd like to congratulate you on loving your first Benelli! My SS has been keeping me quite happy, as I'm positive will your Monte! Feel free to PM me with any O/U tips you have! Happy Shooting!
  17. I was stuck in the middle of the Amazon. I had a couple cases of buckshot, so I shot out the middle of a log to make a canoe. I fine-carved some creature-comforts with my Swiss-Army knife, then I paddled up-river to the next village. The catcher, I used my comfort-tech stock laden Supersport as my paddle. It deflected the arrows of locals, the bites of alligators and piranhas and begged the admiration of vilager with the carbon-fiber material(I know it's a sticker.) No problems with my comfort-tech. In all seriousness, nope, haven't heard of issues and have not had any with mine including frequent contact with bug-spray since my trap/skeet club is a festering of mosquito larvae!!
  18. JC, Congrats, and welcome to the addiction errrr, I mean the club. Step one: admit you have a love for guns Step two: go shoot stuff Above post by FLRon is good sound advice. 'nuff said. HAVE FUN!!
  19. Skeeter. . . I find it interesting that you have Fed tactical buckshot on your bench, but loading up the Mesa w/ Sellier & Bellot or Fiocchi buckshot. Looks better for a picture though when you can see the .33cal pellets. Nice Shotty Skeeter! That 14" has gotta handle sweet for CQB work!

  21. Some of you have mentioned VERY valid points about training. I have had low light training classes, and what they teach makes sense, just that one needs to hear it from a "source" (i.e. instruction, trustworthy read, etc.) The classes are not very common however. The best thing you can do was mentioned above(CJan's post), illuminate and move. HOWEVER...... if you really do have a threat, you do not want to lose it after turning off your light. Bad guy takes advantage and goes to another corner. It's beyond the realm of a forum response though. Weapon mounted lights present one big disadvantage. . . if bad guy shoots at the light, those incoming rounds are eerily close to you. But it is rather difficult to wield a handheld illumination tool in one hand, and retain a long gun in the other. Well, difficult if you want to be accountable for your shots. Here are some points to consider: 1) Don't aim the light at a wall that will reflect the light back at you. *blinding you *highlighting yourself. 2) Move move move your position. Unless you're ready to make the shot, move to take away your predictablility. IF you deploy from a corner high, do it from kneeling next time. 3) Lumens is like firepower. If you can afford 150, 200, 250+ lumens BUY IT! Blinding and disorienting may be advantageous with multiple adversaries if so encountered. 4) "blipping" the light so that your position isn't predictable. In the end, it comes to training, and how many good reps do YOU have with your equipment. Happy training to ya folks!
  22. WTF!?!? I'm beyond perplexed at that stupidity!! Thanks for sharing the laugh with us Sukhoi!
