  1. Train like you'll fight and then you'll fight like you've trained. Ya don't reckon a single shot 28ga with an English stock will work for class? I personally have found the only "downside" to a PG is ability to snag on equipment/vest/clothing because it's so grippy. Have fun in class!! A tactical-esque shotty class would be a hoot!
  2. Is he like the crazy person that no one listens to, or is he the "crazy" person that has strange interpersonal dynamics that no one listens to. Regardless, it was quite entertaining. Yes, the cough was funny! He got so worked up about his message, he "choke" up.
  3. Dooder. . . that is a very cool, sorry, I mean BAD looking Benelli! I'll wait until I can hit 21-25 regularly, THEN *MAYBE* I'll consider having a distinguishing looking gun. I don't want to be "the guy" that has the most expensive gun and can't shoot trap/skeet/clays worth a crap. But. .. you give me something to maintain inspiration. NOT like when one has a Benelli you need much more inspiration than that.
  4. I ordered CS for M4 on 6/8 @ about 6p or so, about an hour later the "sorry to inform you but. . . " backorder for 30 days comment. Hey, at that price, I can wait 30 days if needed. I just hope they get another batch!! I'm guessin' Skeeter bought 'em all. Then he'll get a mfg license from ATF and sell complete shotys to us.
  5. I'll trade ya a Sears single barrel 16 ga for it! Even up! What a deal. Best of luck on your M2 acquisiton.
  6. Well. . . I found a sweet deal on Gunbroker! I have(had) a Wilson AR15 that I didn't "need" and conveniently enough a seller had a 30" Supersport(LNIB) he didn't "need." So I made an even swap. I maybe could've held out for another $100 or $200, but the market is so flooded with AR's right now, it wasn't worth it. So, again, thanks to all of you. I'll hopefully get it in a week, then take it out to the field and throw clays! I'm very excited to give it a try. :D
  7. Personally, I favor a minimalist, back to basics approach. [/QUOTE] That has gotta be one of the, if not THEE funniest photo I've seen yet in firearms forum!
  8. Thanks for the replies ya'll. Seriously, very appreciated. teasing and serious replies alike. What would a forum be without a bit of banter heh? I was able to visit a store that had all three models I listed. I now place the Monte as first (of my three choices) M2 second and based on the lack of mass have taken the U.L. out of the running. Then I look, hold, fondle, lust after the Sport II(Thanks Skeeter!) or the techie looking Supersport and wonder if I should just cut off the left part of my anatomy, trade an AR15 and get what seems to be the gun made for sporting?? Dammit Benelli, you've turned me into a shotgun addict!! Next thing you know I'll sell off my children to get an SBE and take up bird hunting!!!
  9. I have looked and looked and looked, at nauseum over the Benelli catalog for which of their models to buy for sporting clays/trap shooting. I am not a hunter, so I'm not worried about camo, weather resistance, etc. for what that is worth. I fell in love with my M4, so thought I'd give one of their inertia systems a try for sport. The three I like are an UltraLight, Montefeltro & M2 Field (in that order.) I'm not sure my wife wouldn't use the new shotgun on me if I splurged on a Sport II or a Supersport. So, do any of you have any experience you can share about my three primary choices? Even if your experience is hunting in the field, or using an M2 in LE deployments. I welcome any and all user experience and feedback. My only concern with the Ultralight is if it's a pound less mass, will that multiply the felt recoil on my shoulder? Or is the inertia system so effective, it's not of concern? I'd like a wood stock, but if many of you tell me the comfortech stock is worth it, I'll go black synthetic with that option. Thanks much in advance for your words of wisdom, or just words.
  10. Then why is there 3-gun and multi-gun competitions? I fully realize you sand "not as popular" so don't take it as me challenging you, NOT my intent. There are classes that allow the speedloaders and classes that simulate the more law-enforcement and civilian defense aspects despite the slow reloads. What I'm looking for is some ideas for COF that allow weapon manipulation and handling drills. Whether it's a COF for 2 rounds or 10 rounds and requires 3 reloads, I don't care. Weapon handling is weapon handling which means motor memory development. I can certainly create my own, but maybe people in this forum have military or police training with the M4 and could share some handling drills?
  11. My choke for M4 has three nothches in it. Maybe IC is my Rem 870HD barrell then? Sorry, M4 is only six weeks old. Haven't become COMPLETEY intimate with it yet. (YES yes, that's my fault for being a bad dad. . . . sorry!)
  12. Does anyone have links or any C.O.F. they'd share with the group? For as long as the shotgun has been in police/military service, it seems odd to me that it has been difficult to find any COF for shotguns. I can find IPSC/IDPA pistol courses and some rifle courses, but shotgun ones are a challenge. I practice reload drills, malfunction drills with dummy rounds, and on a rainy day will double/triple/quadruple check my M4 is empty and do all dry runs inside the home. After a while it can get "routine" and mixing it up with some other courses would be fun. One I'll do(helps to have a friend for a caller) is I have a target with red circle/green square/yellow rectangle/blue triangle, all on one target. I'll put the target out to "x" distance and have it be decision/reaction to whatever the person says. They call out "RED. CIRCLE" I have to fire one round for each item they call. In this case it'd be two rounds into same target. If they called out "RED. TRIANGLE" then it'd be two targets thus making me acquire two targets, but NOT engaging the other two. To add an extra challenge or decision to it, write numbers on the shape as well. There's my submission, any others would be appreciated. Thanks!
  13. Seeing someone else's post inspired me to share my trials of ammo. All my firing for these rounds was performed at 30ft at human sized silhouette targets. I took one head shot and one center-mass shot. I measured C-C at the extreme spread. This is performed with the choke from factory (IC) fired indoors. All are 2.75" shells unless otherwise specified. Ammo type - group 1/group 2 Rem TAC 8 - 4.5"/4.5" Rem OO Buck - 6.25"/6.25" Win Super X silver box OO THREE INCH - 7.5"/8.25" WIN Super X silver box OO - 4.25"/3.75" Fiocchi OO - 5.75"/3.25" Sellier & Bellot OO - 5.25"/ 8.00" Fed Power Shok OO - 4.0"/ 2.25" OLIN "military type" OO - 5.25"/5.0" I used 30 feet because I figure that's going to be the max for INSIDE of any home situation or any "immediate" threat. Beyond that for many to most would require slugs or a carbine. I also tried slugs @ 50/75yds, but my groups seemed high, and I was even bagging the gun. I'll have to play more with slugs. I'm just running factory iron sights, and that's the way I'll keep this gun. If a Trijicon RMR were REASONABLY priced, I'd get one, but I have a hard time justifying $400 for a mini sight. Anyway, hope this may be helpful to some.
  14. Howdy all. Been about six weeks since purchasing my M4. I hesitated wondering why all the fuss for a $1500 shotgun. NOW I understand! WOW is it a freakin' hoot!! I honestly don't recall a gun(other than my M14) that gave me such a smile shooting it. So, first things I want to change out are the bolt handle and the bolt release. I see there are some bolt releases that replace the entire unit inside the receiver. IS this best left to a gunsmith or can a person with some saavy perform this without losing precious springs & pins? Any links to either a) instructions/videos or b) their rock solid bolt release would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance all!
  15. I slightly disagree with the break-in of any gun. My M4 was purchased new. I fired 2.75" ESTATE target loads during my first 50 rounds or so, and out of 15 or so rounds, at least 6 or 7 of them failed to cycle. after I fired about 250 rounds through it(of a total hodge-podge of ammo!) I then fired an entire box of the Estate(same ammo, lot# and everything) with nary a hiccup! Break-in, yes, but not with expensive ammo. I used heavy target and turkey loads. Best cycling. . . may vary, but seems like my M4 will devour just about everything. If there is a load that doesn't work well, I would buy it as a training tool and/or buy dummy rounds so you can practice malfunction reactions.
  16. Picking a new (or new-to-you used gun), in my humble opinion just begs to be cleaned prior to firing, PERIOD! Get an owners manual online, or read(NOT look) at the one that came with the firearm. Get acquainted with your new toy, nomenclature, step-by-step disassembly, etc. Even if the firearm is "clean" then that just makes the cleaning you'd perform that much easier. But having disassembled it makes you the shooter more familiar, in the even of a malfunction perhaps help understand the mechanical aspects better for probelm-solving. Just my $.02.
  17. Anyone know a good source for 2-point sling for an M4?
  18. I think fit of a gun(pistol, rifle or shotgun) is often overlooked. People just buy a firearm because it's what the military uses, their favorite movie star in a flick or it was on sale. But, much like a pair of hiking boots. . . . if it isn't comfortable you won't wear them(firearm = won't shoot!) IF one doesn't shoot, they won't get better or know how to use the firearm under stress.
  19. BUT. . . . I think snap-caps make a fantastic training tool for practicing reloads, in and out of battery.
  20. That is just waaaaaaay cool looking!
  21. My question then is this. . . is this a gunsmith recommended install, or a careful tinkerer able install? The price seems a bit steep, so I'd hate to have to spend another $50 or so for a smitty to perform work. I still need to buy a +2 tube and a charging handle. TIA!
