  1. @ 1600 fps with slugs. . . . BUT. . . you'll go a lot lot further!!! NICE RIDE!! I agree with the others, it looks very clean and sweet in white! That must just handle like a go-kart, in the sense that , it must not have much body-roll!?? Post up some pics of your driving school too!! Congrats!! 2-Wheel
  2. Sorry folks, but as I admittedly skim-read the posts, I don't believe I read any mention of this use of the saddle carrier. In LE work, the tube has traditionally been filled with buckshot, with room to insert one or two more rounds. In the saddle(or Speedfeed stock on most of the REM 870's) slug loads were placed in there. So, intent of the saddle/shell holders wherever you care to place them, is for swapping out of shells. Let us use the example of say a high risk traffic stop. Goofy one comes out, deadly force required, BOOM, goofy two comes out with hostage - circumstances allow, insert a slug, and/or combat load a slug to chamber thus ejecting the chambered buck-shot and you now have a .72" hole for which to be accountable vs. a 3-5" spread of nine(9) .32" projectiles. As for pumps vs. autos, Benelli vs Remington vs Mossberg, WHO F-ing CARES!!! I love my Benellis, have two. I had a Rem 870, just didn't like it as much as my Ben M4, so I sold it. Our US Military uses or has used Mossberg and the Ben M4 is a USMC weapon if I'm not mistaken. All comes down to maintenance and the Murphy's Law mechanical glitches that CAN and WILL occur. That is why I train and train and train with malfunction drills and dummy rounds. ANYONE can shoot a gun that constantly goes bang. MANY people stop and look at their gun with the "DUH" look when it goes click. I hope to GOD you're(anyone reading this) not the latter. Besides, if you train with some "clicks" it just means more range time for you! Anyway, I think this thread has gone wayward of the OP in this thread. Just my humble $.02. Have a great weekend! And for Pete’s sake, GO OUT AND SHOOT!! 2-Wheel
  3. Aggie, Here is a switch that mounts to any 1913/Pic rail so it's more secure than tape/velcro etc. This one is mounted on a Surefire M80 rail. I like this switch also because it has either constant on "clicky" switch or just a press & hold to activate pad. It works for me. BE WARNED: Side effects include increased battery consumption, a desire to shoot in darkness, an increased consumption of 12ga shotshells through said firearm and an increased need to display a ****-eatin' grin one one's face. Happy shopping! 2-Wheel
  4. Check this out!! Sorry if you've seen before. I saw it in another forum, thought of ya'll here. http://xo.typepad.com/blog/2008/03/video-the-wor-1.html Wonder what that shoots? . .. 00000000 buck? 2-wheel
  5. I'd say go with whatever is gonna make you comfortable. Out of my 18" M4 I have gotten a variance of 3-6" groups during slug tryouts at 50yds. That's a smoothbore with a breacher choke on it. SBE II will help decelerate the recoil between the action, recoil pad combo. Red-Dot. . just make sure it'll hold zero with 1600fps slugs getting launched down the tube. A 4moa dot would work nicely I'd think. Good luck! 2-wheel
  6. Hey, just a bit of hopefully helpful info. I have a soft case by, Python I think. It is more of an AR15 case, but works well for my Ben M4. Anyway, intent of my post is if you use a breacher choke, those prongs can kinda be sharp and cut into your potentiall pricey investment of a case. I have the Carlson' choke for now and here's what I've done. I went to a hardware store and got the rubber pads that go on the feet of chair legs. I got one slightly smaller than the O.D. of my choke. I purposely got a white-colored piece so I'd notice it before I shoot it. Yeah, it looks goofy at first, but it saves the lining in your bag. Just $.02 for ya. 2-wheel
  7. Tango, If purchasing from an online store, I think asking for a "factory sealed" box is somewhat unreasonable. I don't know how all gunstores, do their business, so I won't speak for them. I've always moonlighted at smaller stores. I always confirm the S/N on the box, AND the firearm, AND the invoice from the distributor. To do that, one needs to break the seal. I'm guessing a place like Dick's, Gander, Cabelas doesn't check each and every, but like I said, GUESSING on them. If it still has gobs and GOBS of oozing oil, and that "new Benelli smell" you're good to go. Enjoy! 2-wheel
  8. Where are you?? You must have something to add?
  9. ya'll are so practical. it's so cute! * A Dillon Aero rotary machine gun! * Grenade launcher * RPG Buttttt, if you mean that I have to carry on my person. . * M1A Scout * Ben M4 ( w/ Kip's tube of course!) * Glock 17 A fun light-hearted thread. LOVE IT! 2-wheel
  10. Phil. . . *NOT* ripping on you!!! Just mearly adding to your thought . . . but I'm sure Kip has been busy cleaning up from Shot Show, getting his finish-applicators in line for the bulk order and he mentioned some type of testing for his sear/disconnector components. I'm amazed he gets as much done as he does quite honestly! I think he has one of those necklaces like Hermoine in Harry Potter that lets him travel back-n-forth in time. They'll be worth the wait though, that is FOR SURE!!!! 2-wheel
  11. Just a note that P Henry made a very prompt and painless payment. If the event anyone else has him inquiring about your selling items. That is all. You may return to your shooting now. 2-Wheel
  12. Muzzle. . welcome to the forum. Easy answer I have: I don't have the info about date stamps etc. More involved answer I have: Buying a used gun. .. from a dealer/store? Have them provide a warranty to a mutual agreement. Hopefully they have a gunsmith in store or nearby they contract. Have an inspection done, etc. Buying used from Individual: Take the gun to a 'smith for an inspection and divide the cost to mutually agreeable terms. PROS: Benellis come apart EASY, Waaaaaay easy! As an "inspection" have the seller show you how it comes apart. Get curious, look at the components, what looks weird, scuffed, out-of-whack? This is your time to inquire. Secondly, Benellis just really are very simple! No gas rings, no gas tubes, no gaskets, NO FUSS! I have a Supersport that has about 1500 through it, and my M4 with 2000 through it. The only malfunctions they've had are the ones I've set up. Well, the M4 had a couple when I tortured it a bit ON PURPOSE, and I know FULL WELL it was me running it a bit dry and VERY dirty. That was after 1000 rds with absolutely no cleaning or lube and with low velocity ammo(1150fps.) Get it, shoot it, enjoy it and share it! 2-wheel
  13. Zeke has 2000rds digested since May '10 when I bought it new. Usually gets 100rds per session, unless I'm doing more buckshot or slug tryouts, then I may go through less so I can measure and photo for the logbook. Hopefully it'll get some more 3-gun action this summer! 2-Wheel
  14. Renault, You asked very valid questions. Had they been worded differently, it'd come off like you were a liberal spying on us gun-totin' types. But, I interpreted your tone as friendly debate vs acusatory. And THAT is A-O-K with me! Weapon Light: I responded with my then department issued AR15 and a handheld light to homicide subjects sleeping in a car a number of years ago. I was the only one of the four there that thought of a long-gun and I had to illuminate the car as well(Surefire L5.) THEN. . the brilliance of the supv on scene had me cuff-n-stuff as well. WTF?? I thought. So. . .I will *NEVER* be caught juggling multiple items on a long-gun again!! Pt it on the gun, you'll never forget it. Just train with it!!! Many options. I recommend nothing under 120-150 lumens though, BLIND 'EM!!!! Shell Carrier: Stranger has said most of it. Also, if you want to load the magtube with buckshot, and have slugs on the carrier, for varying threats, etc. Again, TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN!!! Shell Carrier 1.1: You could choose to place shells on your person in 3-gun competition, but again, as Stranger mentioned, at 2am, you won't think about the spare equipment. Same with the light issue I mention above. OPTICS: I thought the same thing as you, "Why mount optics on a shotty?" I tell ya though, that dot shows up very very nicely and quickly!! There are dots out there from 1 - 9 MOA and then chevrons, triangles, circles. Contrary to what many MANY people think, you do need to aim a shotty! Once you find buckshot that patterns well in your shotty, find slugs that can be accurately fired at 50,75, 100 yds, the optic will prove to be valuable. Necessary? absolutely not. A help? Yes indeed. I think the most valuable thing you can do is this: 1) Train for malfunction drills & reload drills with birdshot, dummy rounds and combo thereof. Learn how your gun works, and how you work WITH it, not against it. 2) Take the time to pattern different buckshot loads you have available, and see which ones work. Yeah, it takes time, money and many targets. But. . . The Hornady TAP 8rd 00Buck is something that has been VERY consistent for me. 3.5" groups from 25-40ft. 3) Try some slugs at 25, 50, 75, even 100yds. Which ones hold a nice group, etc. After the above, then get the equipment that augments your needs, whether it be LE, Military, Home Defense, 3-gun or just plain plinking fun!! Enjoy your M4!! 2-wheel
  15. Rocket: Honestly, a major deciding factor on the magpul was I thought it was better than only using the provided S.F. rail covers or even the larger rail cover available out there. I tried an angled foregrip on an AR and instantly tought "I need one for the Ben M4!" I personally like it better with the smooth face vs. the finger groove piece(it comes with both!) Mine is the longer model (AFG1) because I wanted to cover as much rail as possible. But, I am very happy with the configuration. As for YOUR X400, you may consider a tapeswitch for it just so 12ga recoil doesn't jam your thumb. Just a thought. My tapeswitch allows constant on(click) or momentary with pressure. Stranger - I have the light there in case the tape-switch didn't meet my needs and I would just run it with tail cap. but yeah, I could probably slide it forward now. Sling mounts - another minor tweak I need to make, but low on my priority. Thanks all for your suggestions to improve. I am always looking for those last tweaks. Unfortunately those last tweaks can cost one THOUSANDS $$$$ on a distance rifle!! 2-wheel
  16. Payment received, and sold!!! Thanks P Henry! 2-wheel
  17. http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19539 I hope it helps! In short, don't sweat it. Just don't do anything stupid, attract attention to yourself, you'll be fine and having MUCHO fun w/ your shotty. Regards! Welcome to the forum! 2-wheel
  18. I recall reading a post on here about a month ago where someone also mentioned using this same Surefire switch for their WML. I am VERY pleased with this illumination set-up. The Switch is Surefire SR07. Scout Light, Surefire M80 foreend, Magpul angled grip. About the only two pieces I'm waiting for is Kip's charging handle. (Kip, it'll be worth the wait, so I'm *NOT* being an impatient bas*^#d, truly!) and whatever happens to trip my trigger for bolt release. Nothing has really screamed out at me for spending the $$$. Anyway, this is "Zeke" posing for ya'll. I'm very pleased with the optic and AD mount too. Just thought I'd share. A lot of guidance and lurking on other posts here to come up with this set-up which works for me quite contently! YES, I'm a southpaw on a long-gun.
  19. I know, I know, it's a Benelli forum. BUT, at least it's a gun! If the general consensus is you'd like me to remove my post, I will. No worries. Ya'll have been gentle with me in the past. Rem 870 HD w/ speedfeed stock. 18.5" bbl, 6+1 capacity. I've had since new in Feb 2007. 500rds through it. I have it on GB here: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=215850218 A preview of it here.
  20. I'd like to sell my Surefire E2D LED. NIB! I received as a gift, but it's a duplicate item for me. $125 shipped. I will send an extra pair of new batteries, so you'll have your first spares. These are $165 new! This is the 200 lumen model. Would look great on your Benelli!
  21. Factory to factory set-up, to be sure. But, change the compensator/flash hider/ {insert tact-ti-cool word here} and it can dramatically decrease muzzle rise on the AR platform. I have used the PWS 556 and the Battlecomp and they both push the rifle straight back vs. the 1 or so inch of muzzle rise. I almost hesitate to use the word "recoil" with an AR since it's so non-existent. muzzle rise though, certainly a valid concern for follow-up shots. Ultimately to answer the original question. . get the rifle that fits you best, in the caliber you can afford to shoot regularly to maintain your weapon skills. good luck! either way, you're getting a gun. that's awesome!!
  22. I am in for two of the handles when they are completed! They'll be worth the wait I'm certain of it! Thanks Kip!!!!
