forzArmata
Does anybody run their M4 rail-less? Thoughts?
StrangerDanger
You could put a dab of black silicon in the receiver holes and it would protect the threads. It would be easy to pick out if you decided to attach the rail down the road.
Evolution
Does anybody run their M4 rail-less? Thoughts? Um yeah, why would you want to?
forzArmata
Um yeah, why would you want to? Cause the rail looks silly and isn't being used.
benelliwerkes
You can use 8-40 receiver plug screws. http://www.brownells.com/shotgun-parts/barrel-parts/barrel-hardware/8-40-plug-screws-prod75293.aspx

forzArmata
Just found this advising against the 8-40 screws: http://forum.benelliusa.com/showthread.php/31943-Benelli-m4-rail-delete-screw-hole-plug-options?p=177264
benelliwerkes
There are a few examples of SAE / metric thread sizes being interchangeable; 8-40 and M4 x .75 coarse thread screws are within a few thousandth's of each other; certainly for plug screws that have no tension, they are suitable substitutes and much more readily available. It's the only threaded part on the Benelli I know of where SAE can be used. There are some third party reports the factory specifies a 8-40 thread however I have never seen it in factory documents. forzArmata
So the ones you linked me to earlier (60878) are different than the ones above (70123). Which ones do I need? Also do you happen to have a photo showing these plugs in use? Thanks Here's the earlier ones again: http://www.brownells.com/shotgun-parts/barrel-parts/barrel-hardware/8-40-plug-screws-prod75293.aspx
