Figured out an issue with installing the 20 gauge shell stop latch. You can not use the M1014/M4 follower; a M2 follower or similar must be used. Works 100% now.

Yep, the hinged 20ga latch holds the shell just a bit father forward than a 12 ga latch (and can contact some followers)...and don't try to drill & tap the 20ga latch for an oversize release button.

Why can't you drill and tap it?

The button on the 20ga latch is pressed fit. Meaning it free spins. As a single round button, it doesn’t matter which direction it’s pointing. But once you try and attach an oversized button that needs to stay in a fixed position. That’s when you see the problem. I should’ve read the forums before installing. Lesson learned!

Trying to figure a way to stop it from spinning, I just haven’t had the time recently.

I realize it’s an old thread. Are you still happy with M2 follower on your M4? Also is it possible to drill and tap it for enlarged (round) button installation?

Thanks

If the 20ga latch in your gun is hinged like the one on the right in this picture then you CANNOT drill/tap it for an enlarged button. The post is hollow (contains a spring) and will not accommodate a screw.

Thanks. Well it sux as I really like my oversized button on M4 T Pro. Pity there are no other reliable options to make loading easier.
