The Monte usually takes Benelli standard chokes (aka Beretta Mobil chokes). I heard that the Montes were eventually going to get the Benelli Crio Choke system, but I have not seen any confirmation of that yet. You mention 'invector', which is a Browning choke tube name, so you may be testing the incorrect choke. Is your Monte new? If so, call Benelli CS. If used, someone may have blown/bulged the choke area out with large hard shot. mudhen - CA

Hmmm... No offense, but most of that stuff is pretty common in the used gun & used parts market. The 21" M1 is not a popular used gun - I'd give it a value of $650 tops - I can find them NIB for $750 with full 5 year factory warranty - Cabelas has NIB M1 SteadyGrips for $849 - real world value on that gun is about $550, maybe $600, or whatever someone is willing to pay! I see used Vari-X I's for as low as $50. I bought a used Vari-X II 2-7 for $60 two years ago. The Vari-X I is now the Rifleman or something cheap like that from Leupold, and goes for $170 NIB. B-Square mounts? I have 3-4 in a parts box. Worth maybe $10 on E-Bay. Kicks choke? Got one in the parts box - worth about $15 on E-Bay. What brand of slug tube? Rhino might be worth $25+ - Carlsons maybe $5, $10 tops. Used Sims pad maybe $7, sling maybe $5. Benelli gun case = $0, it came with the gun. The real world value on that gun is no more than $800, imho of course... mudhen - CA

Ditto to Tucker's post. Please explain the sour taste I hope your first post is your last... mudhen - CA

I've had a 5-10% leakage rate on the Flambeau Best Buys, but they are not too bad for the price. Bought 10 dozen in 2000 or so, most are still fine... mudhen - CA

Someone here has bought them already - maybe try a search? Trulock makes them for Benelli. Contact them and you can order directly. I think Trulock Crio's them upon request as well. Many folks swear by Trulock... mudhen - CA

Don't own a SN, but I'd start with a Primos Tightwad in .660, maybe .665, and some Winchester 3.5" HV lead in #5's or #6's. See what the gun throws at 35 yards, and go from there. Benelli bore ID's tend to differ a bit, so it might take a little time and effort to find what your gun likes best... mudhen - CA

Most folks don't get to debate with them as long as you did. I applaud your tenacity. You were fine until the very end. The 'other' place has been extremely useful to me for regional info, but it has never claimed to be any sort of forum for free speech or free expression. Honestly, I am not surprised that this forum is more wide open. The point is to sell more Benellis, period. If folks can see the good and the bad, they are better prepared to make an informed decision. Where are the Browning forums? Remington? Mossturd? Say what you want about Benelli, but how many companies open themselves up to the public in this manner?... mudhen - CA

BTW, this is a great way to make friends here; http://www.nwtf.org/message_board/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=shotguns&Number=247551&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=0&fpart= Other than my rifles, which have all had to have trigger work done, I've never paid much attentiion to shotgun triggers, be it for turks, hogs, deer, or wingshooting. Maybe I don't know what I am doing mudhen - CA

Rifled Benelli barrels are much more accurate than a smooth bore barrel. A rifled choke helps some. My buddy killed a 10-pt Iowa buck last year with my SBE I slug gun at 197 yards, freehand, open sights, with a Win Part Gold, the deer never moved once hit, flat out dead. The Part Gold gets the credit for the knock-down power, the SBE slug gun gets the credit for delivering the slug on target... mudhen - CA

No, the Benelli triggers have always been fine for me. I'm heading towards 100 turks with my Benellis with some, but few misses. I'm sure some well-insured gunsmiths do trigger jobs. Use the search button here or use the Yellow Pages where you live. mudhen - CA

From a rainy Copenhagen, Benelli slug barrels are very accurate and worth the 400-500 clams. My SBE I has taken many deer in Iowa at some silly distances. All deer have dropped like rocks so far. Just my two kroners or whatever the heck they call their money here... mudhen - CA

You shouldn't have to grind the choke on a $1500 gun, it should be perfect for all shooters right from the box Actually, there shouldn't even be a box. For $1500, the gun should be hand delivered by Tom Knapp to my door, assembled, in a nice Benelli gun case...the black one will do fine... As a matter of fact, no $1500 gun should ever require any additional adjustments. For $1500, the gun should self-adjust, self-clean, self-shoot, etc. I shudda bought a Mossturd I'm gone until the 27th, I can say what I want mudhen - CA

No. But then again, I have never fired a shot through a factory Benelli choke mudhen - CA

Same as every other recoil spring. You must be doing something wrong I just push the spring in, hold it there with my fingas, and use the tube nut to hold the spring down while screwing it back in. Tighten up with the 17mm and back in business. Good luck! mudhen - CA

If your SBE II is drilled and tapped, adding a Weaver 93 type rail should be a snap. Does your SBE II have the four little plugs? If so, just pop them out and put on whatever base you want. I'd go with some sort of quick release rings and base. I do that all the time on my muzzleloader as some states do not allow scopes. I'll be in Sweden next week visiting family. Don't ask where, I have no clue! I'll also be in Italy the week after! No time to visit Benelli though... mudhen - CA

You is funny! What did you do, furgit your original username and re-register? You is even funnyer that I thought! I am not cute. But I am usually pretty willing. If you have a deer lease in Iowa, I'm yor fella.... My motto in college was 'all cats are gray in the dark'... mudhen - CA

I like wood stocks too. Sadly, my 16 y.o. SBE wood stocks have pretty much given up the ghost. The first stock cracked in the first year; the stock basically exploded into 5-6 pieces. Second stock cracked after 13 years even with the metal band in the stock. I'd put a C&H mercury recoil reducer in the stock and buy the SBE II wood if that's what you really want, cracks be danged... But don't be surprised if the wood does crack over time. 3.5" will win over wood sometimes... mudhen - CA

I'm from MO, still get back there quite a bit to hunt, great state no doubt and you are lucky to live there year long. I'll contact you before my next visit. We try our best out here to keep the anti's honest. We elected the Terminator and it looks like he will get another term. The NRA is strong here and guns are a huge $$$ business in Cali, so we just fight them tooth and nail... mudhen - CA

Don't know anyone who has bought one yet, but Trulocks are generally thought of as good chokes, so I'm sure it will work fine. Also don't know the constriction, but .660 should be good for lead and softer non-tox and .665/.670 should be good for Hevi Shot. I'm sure Trulock can tell you more about that choke. mudhen - CA

Missouri is the left coast?... Read your own post again...what did I miss?... mudhen - CA

Looks like the right part. I have no idea who makes it though - the follower looks like the one that comes with the Sure Cycle mag spring kit. Just remove your entire mag tube and put that one on. I would imagine you can get a spring from Wolff if it doesn't come with one. mudhen - CA

I don't own a SS, but I think the limiter plug is the Montefeltro type that slides in the end magazine plug. Brownells sells the 3-shot plug for $20.50; http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/schematics/schemmfg.aspx?schemid=680&m=1&mn=Benelli+U.S.A.%c2%ae&model=Super+90+Montefeltro+ As to the 10 round extension, I'm not sure how that works on the Monte style guns. They may not exist as a standard item, but maybe someone makes an aftermarket kit? Since the Monte system does not use a hollow mag cap, I'm guessing any Monte style extension would have to be a custom made tube and spring kit. mudhen - CA
