The 3.5" Kent BB's pattern like crap in my SBE II. Tried maybe 10 choke tubes - still blown horrible patterns. Seems dirty to me as well. I have always suspected my SBE II is more under-bored, which might explain why it likes Kent Matrix and hates most brands of steel shot. However, it does shoot Federal Ultra Speed Shok - go figger... You will need to try any shell in your own gun - you can't really rely on anyone else... mudhen - CA

I like the Primos Dead Zone set: http://www.primos.com/product_info.php?products_id=515 mudhen - CA

My favorite is the Win Plat Tip. Easier to control than the Win Part Gold. mudhen - CA

Primos Dead Zones would get my vote - I think they sell a set of two that might fit your needs... http://www.primos.com/product_info.php?products_id=514 mudhen - CA

Maybe try Leopold Quick Release w/med rings? I did that on my Omega muzzle loader so I can switch from scope to red dot to open sights depending on the F&G laws of the area I happen to be hunting that day. mudhen - CA

The answer can only be provided by you when you select the base/ring height. mudhen - CA

'Someone' prolly lost the d-ring that retains the pin. I myself, would not fire a shot without it. Check your SBE II to see if the d-ring is still there. If not, buy a new pin & d-ring from www.brownells.com mudhen - CA

From reading your post, I'd say don't buy a Benelli. If, after reading the vast majority of positive replies, you still are nervous about buying a Benelli, then I honestly think you should buy a different brand. mudhen - CA

Yes, it matters, M2T's do not come in the hard case yet. My GS just got one in - regular box. Cool that they are sending you a case. mudhen - CA

Hard case, 5 chokes, choke wrench, instructions, etc. mudhen - CA

I'm sure there would be some demand for a gas- op sporting Benelli. BUT, where would the demand come from? Some Beretta gas customers I think. Also some Benelli inertia customers I think. I doubt Beretta Holding is looking to thin the already thin market any further. Given that Browning can't give away a gas gun (and is actually coming out with a new inertia gun soon), I can't see the gas gun market expanding much. A Benelli gas gun will likely run $1500+, so how many 11-87 customers will it lure? It might work, but I'm not sure BH will go that way any time soon... mudhen - CA

Get a rifled choke, Rhino-Carlson-or whoever, and shoot Remington Buckhammers! Newer SBE II's should be factory drilled & tapped. Add a scope or some neat holo-sight or red-dot and you will have a bad, bad, killing machine... mudhen - CA

I found a spare key! Mwahahahaha! WiGeon. I think it's a European Ringnecked Wigeon!! You are so grounded mudhen - CA

Where do I start? 1) Many Benelli dealers sell 24" Benellis cheaper than 26/28. I've seen that trend since at least 1995. It's all about demand. They show the same price in Benelli catalogs & my dealer says they are the same, but he too has sold 24" cheaper in the past. He says because they are so hard to sell, but I cannot prove or disprove that comment. Our group bought 10 Realtree Hardwood 24" Novas back in 2000 for around $240 each from a dealer in Tennessee. Ugly guns, but they go bang. 2) The Steady-Grip program is 100% the dealer's decision to participate or not participate. It is an optional promotion and tied in to the dealer's purchases, which is his business, not yours. It came over as an e-mail to my dealer and he hit the delete button immediately. That being said, just hammer away at Benelli's CS because it has been posted here that they will give in if you complain enough. Do a search for the promo and you will find the previous post. I think they will take care of you if they still have SG's in stock. 3) What does $1000 have to do with anything? Are you saying that if it were a $200 gun it would be ok to screw the customer? Should they give 10x the promo if it's a $10,000 gun? You make no sense here. 4) Yes, yes, yes. SW had better sheit or get off the pot. Their CS notoriously sucks. They really hurt the average joe sportsman with their infamous misinformation. Good luck with the SG - I bet you get it mudhen - CA

Ringbill is a pretty common name for the ring necked duck out here and in Missery where I grew up shooting them. http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/hunting/waterfowl/index.html http://www.ctwaterfowl.org/divingducks.htm mudhen - CA

Ok, I'll play this stupid little game, what do you call the ringed neck duck Also, if you shoot 7 ringneck ducks at a refuge, do you inform the wardens you shot 7 lesser scaup? I have always referred to ringneck ducks as ringbills after I was questioned by a CA Fish & Game warden about being over limit on pheasants. Apparently I told someone I had shot a bunch of ringnecks, and that person presumed I meant pheasants and called the fuzz. I have no problem with Mr. Greenjeans, but I don't need him walking out to my blind during the morning flight. mudhen - CA

Umm, then what do you call ringbills mudhen - CA
-
Thanks - but not even close Eurasian Widgeon (widgeon must be spelled with a D - my house, my rules - and btw there is no such thing as a European Wigeon). 'Common' GE. Not a ringbill - lesser scaup. I like this guy- his momma musta pulled a train with one bw teal in line... mudhen - CA

Nothing factory or AM that I can find. Why did you buy this atrociously styled firearm? It sounds like you are really bothered by the looks of the gun. Call me stupid, but I rarely buy things that I don't like mudhen - CA [ 07-24-2006, 07:42 PM: Message edited by: mudhen ]

New shell is on the carrier. I've cleaned the recoil tube. Never tried to disassemble the bolt. Looked like it may require special tools, and the manual didn't give instructions on how. If by 'special tool' you mean your fingernail, then yes, you are correct. It ain't the spring in the bolt - they usually last the lifetime of the gun. IMHO, it's cheap shells or a dirty gun or how you are holding the gun/not holding the gun or crud in the recoil tube assembly or maybe it's something else... My top bet is cheap shells... mudhen - CA

Oh yeah, 20 ga slugs are much better than ever and have a real cult following that actually prefer 20 ga slugs over 12's. The question is can a rifled choke be found for a Benelli - don't know - search for yourself! mudhen - CA

Ordered my first extra D-ring in 1991, and have not lost another one since then! mudhen - CA
