  1. I go with a gas 20 gauge. I don't know of any gas 20's for $400 or under, so I guess you will have to stop shooting You could also try a used BPS in 3.5", add a C&H Mercury Reducer to the stock and magazine, and shoot trap loads... mudhen - CA
  2. I have read it is around 7 fps per inch on shotguns with modern loads - as someone else posted above... mudhen - CA
  3. Hevi Steel works fine for me - #4 has been good in the rice at 35 yards or so - hits kinda like steel #3's - good for rice ducks like widge & teal. Bought four cases this year for close in work... mudhen - CA
  4. 26" for me... mudhen - CA
  5. I use www.midwayusa.com mudhen - CA
  6. I don't use one, but I think they are fine if you really think you need one. They are also fine if your gun needs one to pattern correctly. My big problem is that I really enjoy the whole process of watching the bird(s) all the way in. I like watching flocks, multiple toms, etc. I can think of 3-4 toms in the past few years that I could not have killed with a scope. A Kansas double comes to mind where there is noooooo way I could have located and shot the second bird while trying to view him in a scope. But, if I lived in a state with one tom limits or real dense cover, I might consider a scope or a holo-sight type sight which I like much better than traditional scopes... mudhen - CA
  7. Dunno on the SBE II, I'll try it later this summer when I get the slug stuff out. Call CS in the meantime. mudhen - CA
  8. Yes. That is up to you. The SBE is a much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, better gun. I turned down a NIB camo I-12 last week for $400. I think a fair price for the I-12 is maybe $250-$300 tops. mudhen - CA
  9. SBE & SBE II use the same slug barrel. I have not seen many for sale - but the ones I have seen go for $450+-. The slug forearm goes for around $80 from the ones I have seen. You can make the non-slug forearm work with a little Dremel work. mudhen - CA
  10. I've got a very clean A-5 Lares for sale - blue - checkered - $95 - I'll pay shipping. mudhen - CA
  11. Well, Benelli's are underbored so the inertia system will work, so it's not a marketing ploy. Underbored guns can shoot tight with the right choke, but they can just as easily have blown patterns due to overchoking. Browning touts it's overboring as creating more even patterns. My Brownings do pattern very well, especially when it comes to steel shot. Hard shots does not usually like to be overchoked... mudhen - CA
  12. Mudhen - curious which duck call works well for you? Thanks, Nate Poly walnut double - tuned by a WL rep - I have and use about 12 WL's though... mudhen - CA
  13. WL's are my go to calls - for ducks & honkers. I would e-mail Rick and ask for the particular style of call you want. mudhen - CA
  14. Less than 100 if you hit Canada or states like NoDak! Deer season opens in Cali this Saturday! mudhen - CA

    SBE2-PORTING

The last three guys I know that bought ported Benelli's for duck hunting sold them within a year (Sport II's). All three went with SBE II's. They would have loved to buy the Cordoba, but it is ported too. Loved the guns, just didn't like the noise themselves, and their blind partners felt the same way. Many of us out here shoot out of tanks in the levees. Straight overhead is a preferred shot. Porting is heck on a tank blind partner! mudhen - CA
  16. I'd see what they do in your guns before returning anything. I like the charts on www.carlsonschokes.com - they let you see what each constriction should throw in a gun. mudhen - CA
  17. Yes and no. Yes, in that they will fit each gun. No, in that they might not perform the same in the two different guns. Benellis are underbored, Beretta Optima Plus guns are overbored. I have Benellis that are .721-723 bore that like .660. I may even order a .657-.658 from Rhino this year and try some of the new #7 non-tox loads. A .730-732 (or whatever OP guns are) might not like .660. I hear most OP guys shoot .670. I would start with anyone's .660. I think you may mean Nitro ammo, as I have not seem ammo from Rhino yet. That being said, your M2 SHOULD like the .660 JH. I'd start with lead #6's and move up to Win ER's if your guns likes #6's. mudhen - CA
  18. For $1500 per gun, I think the US should have a better website! Benelli OWES us more... mudhen - CA
  19. I'd buy a CT SG extra stock for my SBE II in a heartbeat if it was reasonably priced. They feel great and should work well for turkey & deer. But I wont' spend a ton of $$$ as the SG stock has not other use for me during the other seasons. mudhen - CA
  20. Does not bother me one bit. I like the tackiness. mudhen - CA
  21. The #10402 I bought in March does not slip in like the factory Benelli Gel Pad. It requires the use of an adaptor that I have already pretty much ruined just by removing a few times. I will use the factory Gel-Pad during waterfowl season when I take the stock off often... mudhen - CA
  22. Not that I can tell. I am sure they will produce something like Sims did and have an adaptor plate or some other method to work around the slip in fit. mudhen - CA
  23. Good enough! Glad that your dealer realized it was his error, not Benelli CS, as this was clearly not a Benelli CS issue but a dealer issue. My dealer tells me that the program is being lightly promoted (he got a generic e-mail notice) in order to allow Benelli to clear out some excess inventory of the Steady Grip stocks. He suspects Benelli is going to disco the current Steady Grips and either drop the option or replace it with a Comfortech Steady Grip system. I know many like the Steady Grip, but in the best selling Benelli states, they tend to be very slow sellers. Good luck with your Benelli purchase mudhen - CA
  24. I think Comfortech Gel Pads only fit Comfortech stocks. The M1 does not have a Comfortech stock, neither does the M2 Steady Grip. I don't think any pistol grip Benellis have the Comfortech stock. Looking at the catalog, it looks like all the pistol grip stocks still come with the traditional hard rubber Benelli pad. So no, I don't think the CT Gel Pad fits any Benelli pistol grip stock yet. I could be wrong though... mudhen - CA
  25. Limbsavers are fine - I used them for many years - still use several. X-Coil by Hi-Viz are much better though. Saw new pre-fit X-Coils at my GS yesterday. Says they fit SBE/M1 wood & synthetic. If this X-Coil fits your M4's, I think you will find the X-Coil to be a superior product. I never considered the X-Coil until the pre-fits came out - my gunsmith wanted $125 to grind and fit + $40 for the pad - $165 was too much for me! mudhen - CA
