Shot a few toms with my SBE II so far: I have found the Rhino .660 1.5" works best with Win 3.5" XR's #5's, but the Primos Jellyhead .660 works just a tad bit better with Win 3.5" XR's #6's. Both tubes and both shells travel with me everywhere I turkey hunt... mudhen - CA

Sorry, but I don't get that detailed There are lots of shovelers on almost every refuge in Cali! Everyone I know that hunted Wed hammered them. The cold front might have moved a few birds out of Klamath, but no one in particular is seeing any significant increase in numbers in their area. Maybe a few teal moved into the Grasslands. www.photobucket.com mudhen - CA

We see them all season, but Dec - Feb they are thick, so I think this is the end of the migration for many. I try not to shoot them, but sometimes it's just hard to resist mudhen - CA

Slow day at a public refuge. My birds are on the left. A few gooses in my area! Only 55 days left here in Cali... mudhen - CA

You can take them out or just oil them up a bit and clean up with a brush. Mine get a little rusty, no big deal... mudhen - CA

See my reply on the other post. Othewise, do some searching here and you will find some solutions. mudhen - CA

Do some searching on the forum and read the above replies by Tucker. The bolt on your gun is not closing. Most likely cause is operator error and/or crappy shells. The bolt must close fully to allow the gun to fire properly. You are perfectly describing the infamous Benelli 'click'. The 'click' is the hammer falling, but not firing because the firing pin cannot be exposed due to the bolt head not being in the correct position. Follow the break in procedure that is in your manual and see if that helps. If not, you may have to shoot hotter trap loads. I know about 10 S II/SS/Cordoba shooters and all their guns work perfectly. My buddy is a 83 average sporting clays shooter and all he uses are the Federal Golds (or something like that) and he hasn't had much of an issue in his many years in the leagues. mudhen - CA

FYI - I've got no problem doing a little touch up with a Dremel on a 16 year old SBE. But, I do agree that any issue that comes up during the warranty period should be referred to Benelli CS. mudhen - CA

You might really like the SX3 Field or whatever they have in the super light category. I'm hearing good reviews and the price should be lower by next spring. I'm having a little trouble with my new Browning Silver Hunter not cycling, but I'm starting to think it's just the 3.5" spring getting broken it. The problem is slowly going away. mudhen - CA

Not strange at all. SX3's were shipping fine all summer and into fall. My shop cannot get any at this time. I visited a Gander Mountain last week that had a ton of SX2's still in stock. mudhen - CA

I like it, but mechanically, it is about 1/3 what my Benellis are. It jams all the time. It will not fucntion with light loads, even light duck loads. The Dura Touch coating is wearing off after just a few hunts. But the POI matches the POA much better than my Benellis, so I'm kind of torn. I will probably just have a few of my Benellis worked on soon to improve the POA/POI issue. mudhen - CA

I could not agree more Reread your original post and ask yourself if you are really being fair to Benelli. Especially Benelli USA given that they probably have little control over what the parent company sends and when. Free speech in the US only applies to government action. There is no 'private' right to free speech... mudhen - CA

I think I've had 12 or so Benellis since 1991. All have worked fine. My 1991 SBE still goes on a few hunts each year. I figure that gun has maybe 40,000 rounds through it. It did have a barrel ring crack after 10 seasons. Benelli fixed in 27 days total including both shipping times. It came back reblued, with upgrades to the ejector plate, new locking pin, etc. All at no charge even after 10 years. I have an SBE slug gun that has about a dozen Iowa whitetail notches. I have an SBE II that has run about 25 straight toms (k.o.w.). I do love other guns, but Benelli is still #1 in my book. I hear about many new guns for 2007 and beyond. I really think Benelli is just warming up. mudhen - CA [ 11-29-2006, 12:05 PM: Message edited by: mudhen ]

Yes, actually they do. I've seen wild ducks and geese gorge on leftover potatoes, sugar beets, sweet potatoes, peanuts, etc. One of the oddest things I have seen is mallards feeding on leftover tomatoes in a flooded tomatoe field! mudhen - CA

Whatcha wanna know? The right hand pad has the high ridge on the left side as you are looking straight at it. It looks odd until you shoulder it and realize that is snugs right into place when you move your right arm into the shooting position. The left hand pad is logically higher on the right side as you are looking straight at it. http://www.e-gunparts.com/DisplayAd.asp?chrProductSKU=930890&chrSuperSKU=&MC= Some of the photos are not correct I think or they are hard to tell from the angles shown. mudhen - CA [ 11-28-2006, 04:05 PM: Message edited by: mudhen ]

Grow up and make you own decisions Typical Utah elitist drivel...your dried up dusty state just ain't as great as you blab to everyone it is... You should take whatever gun you buy and do the right thing... mudhen - CA (That's CA - where we buy more guns that any other state in the US - kill more ducks than any other state - spend more money on hunting & fishing than any other state - do more business with Cabelas than any other state - do I need to go on?) Now take your two trolling posts and move on... Howz that?

Nope, this is SOP. You are just very naive about the gun industry. Maybe there was a production problem? Maybe they made a modification after the catalogs were printed? Who knows? Delays like this are totally normal. Looking through Remington's 2006 catalog, I can find many items that are not readily available at retail: 105Cti - announced in 2005 - maybe mid 2007? - the fact that the gun does not work well may be causing the delay. Model Seven - almost none available at retail Model 798/799 - almost none available Sure, some new guns trickle out at www.gunsamerica.com and www.gunbroker.com, but that does not make them readily available. I'd look at the Winchester SX3 Field. But wait, my dealer had them and now he says they are out until spring! I guess I'd better post up my whining over at Winchester's website. Wait, they don't have one! Get the picture? Welcome to the real world of grown-ups... mudhen - CA

No. If it were common, Benelli would not be selling every gun they can ship to the US. But, if the above comments are a true indication of your requirements in a gun, then I suggest you do not purchase a semi-auto shotgun of any brand. Also, do not purchase a pump shotgun of any brand. Also, do not purchase an over and under or side by side of any brand. Also, don't purchase a single shot of any brand. Also, don't buy any commercially made ammunition. Other than that, buy whatever fits you best mudhen - CA

All of my Benellis get some Dremel time at one point or another. Also watch for shaving shells when the chamber mouth gets sharp as a knife (about 10,000 rounds for me). I knock the edge down with a round diamond knife sharpener. Good home smithing work! mudhen - CA

HEY GUYS - I just mentioned what my SBE's do for me. Don't get all pizzy about it. I've been shooting SBE's for 17 seasons with none of the problems you are mentioning. I'm sorry that my guns work and yours don't! Send the guns back to Benelli. If they come back not working, send them back again. This forum is not a conduit to Benelli CS... mudhen - CA
