I'd try Win HV copper coated lead #5's or #6's. I've kilt a few birds with that load. I just like the XR's because they seem to have a bit more range and knockdown power. If I didn't travel to hunt and spend what little $$$ and vacation time I get, I'd shoot those HV's all day long.

I answered the question as asked.

Try E-Bay. I see them there all the time.

The M2 and SBE II do not come with a D Shim. Benelli CS told me a D shim for the M2 & SBE II did/does not exist. My many SBE I's have not come with a Z shim, just A-D. I ground up my A shim and added it to the C shim to get my SBE II to shoot lower.

No one knows the fps for sure yet on the 2007 H-13. I'll ask around. I'm guessing 1200. The 2007 12 ga shell is red. There's more #7's. I hand counted 233 FHW #7's per oz. I hand counted 193 XR #6's per oz (Win' catalog says 207). So that's 437 #7's to 386 #6's. Do 51 extra pellets matter? Dunno. But I have kilt bird with 1-3 pellets in the head before, so I'll take all I can get. Indian Creek, Rhino, Pure Gold, and the Primos Jellyhead seem to be the favorites in Benellis these days. I just want guys to be successful

So far, the H-13 is looking good. I'm getting 40% (160+- hits) in the 10" at 40 yards. 1.75 oz of H-13 in #6's through a Primos Jellyhaid would be my first choice right now. The Win XR's in #6 would be close behind. The H-13's are only going 1090 fps and the XR's are going 1225, so I might flop and stick with the XR's. However, a new 2007 version of the H-13 is now out. I am waiting for my new Indian Creek choke tube to arrive before testing anymore shells. The new H-13 is faster and heavier. Indian Creek makes the slotted HS tubes for M.A.D. Also, I'm getting decent patterns with Nitro H51013 and the new Federal HW in straight #7's. What to do, what to do

I think you are incorrect. First of all, no the M1 D shim should not fit the M2. My SBE shims do not fit my SBE II. My SBE came with A-D, my SBE II came with Z-C. The new style C shim offers the lowest drop using the factory shims. I know guys that have made their own D shims or had gunsmiths fit their guns. Second, the D is thicker at the top and should lower the POI when wingshooting. In the new stocks on the M2 and SBE II, the Z appears to be the thinnest followed by the A, B, and C. No D is offfered yet in the new shim design. I've used a ground down A added to the C to get what I want for waterfowl. I think you corrected your own problem by shooting the gun and letting your brain figure it out

With #5's, that's really not too bad. The brain and spine area of most turkey targets are pretty small. If you are really shooting at 40 yards, then it's probably fine. The real question should be how many are you putting in the 10" circle at 40 yards. If you cover that 10" area, you should not miss many birds. The spine & brain is too specific in my opinion. My guns put about 80 #5 Hevi-13's in a 10" circle at a true 40 yards and #5 lead & H-13 run around 170 pellets per oz. It goes up to 120-160 when I use #6 Hevi-13's, but there are about 200+ #6's per oz, so I expect more hits. Nitro is cool and I shoot it sometimes. With their triplex loads, you get; 22 #4 pellets, 81 #5 pellets and 382 #7 pellets for a total of 495 pellets in the shell. With 495 pellets, you dang well better be getting 200+ hits! I would check your patterns to see how many hits you are getting in the 10" or at least on a 8.5" x 11" piece of paper. Also, I'd try 34-36 yards just for fun. My patterns really run out of gas at 40 yards, but they are good at 36 and in. I just try to get that bird in a bit closer. Good luck!

Hey Scott, Great Outdoors has only sold one so far and there are no reports from the owner. He just hasn't shot it yet. Matt

We are all lame There are tons of non-CT SBE II's listed for 2007. Just look them up under the specifications...

www.cabelas.com Cabelas bought Herters many years ago.

This is incorrect. Someone might have switched the stocks, but I highly doubt it. The non-Comfortech synthetic SBE II was a catalog item for a period of time. Our rep said it was discontinued sometime in 2006. I'll try to find the catalog number. It was supposed to be available in black & Max 4. I also think a non-Comfortech synthetic M2 was available, but I could be incorrect. I'm almost sure I saw one in Max 4 last summer. My local shop had a non-Comfortech synthetic SBE II in Max 4 in stock for quite some time before someone finally bought it. It was about $250 less than the Comfortech SBE II. The butt pad was the hard rubber version, not the nice Gel Pad. It looks like there might be a non-Comfortech SBE II in Max 4 for sale on www.gunsamerica.com right now, but the ad is poorly worded: http://www.gunsamerica.com/Classifieds/Guns/_976539108.aspx

Yeah right - is Rosie jealous

That looks normal to me. I can't see how they can get the film to stick in every nook and cranny.
-
Where do you see the Cordoba 20 in Max4? I see the 12 in Max4 and the 20 in black. I'm sure I could be missing it though

It's all over in Cali. 100 days seems to go by so fast. There were a few birds around the last week:

Probably a Primos Jellyhead .660 and Winchester XR's in #6. Or a Rhino .660 and the same shells. XR #5's shoot pretty well in the Rhino too. I'll be testing more shells soon; Hevi-13, Federal HV #7's, etc.
-
Dunno. I've never fired a shot through any Benelli factory choke tube. The JH shoots almost the same as the Rhino - both being .660. mudhen - CA

It's been slower this year.

I won't hunt in the same blind with one again. I'd like to be able to hear at least a little when I'm as old as Tucker...

I know many folks that shoot SST's from SBE's. Might I ask where you read this info? I think my guys will want to know. What is the causal connection between a bad shell and Benelli CS?

Remington made better guns back then. They make crap now. I just returned a Model 700 rifle with more defects that the Iraqi army. Just saw photos of a guy that blew part of this thumb off when his Remington 11-87 malfunctioned. The gun went off with the bolt partially open. This cannot happen unless the gun is defective. Maybe I'll tell him that your 50 y.o. Remington works well for you. Maybe that will make his blown up thumb feel better I've gone 17 seasons without any issues that were not quickly resolved by Benelli CS. btw - Every brand of gun I have ever owned has broken at least once: Glock Beretta Benelli Remingtons - too many to list Browning - all have failed in some way Smith & Wesson etc, etc, etc........

I guarantee you that no manufacturer or installer of plastic film camo offers a 10 year warranty. My SBE II camo is much lighter after two years with minimal wear. Maybe you got a bad film? Maybe it is just normal wear and tear? Did Ken view the camo and tell you it was normal? If so, I'd back Ken as he has always been straight with me.
