  1. Sold. Check is in hand and it ships out next week.

    R1 Overall

Unless it's tapered, you may need shims. I mounted my Leupold VXII using teh Leupold base and ran out of vertical adjustment.

    R1 Overall

The mounts are the same pattern as the Browning BAR hunting rifles, but the base that ships with the R1 is tapered. Yiu may need to use shims or a tapered base if you use a Leupold (assuming you mean dovetail) setup.
  4. Yep. They're pretty, but the triggers are too heavy, they shoot to the left and too low, and they won't handle (|) trap loads.

  6. The new Benelli Italia site is cool!...uhmmm... HOT! I like the download links for manuals and parts. I love the catalog! I'm a maniac for the Mania!!
  7. The rigging is just to make it easy to handle them, put them out quickly, and take them back in quickly. Once you've reached your hunting spot, you untie the large knot that keeps them from tangling, then slip them off the carbineer one by one, tossing them tinto the water. When you pick up, you hang them back on the carbineer, tie the big knot, and go. [ 06-27-2006, 11:58 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]
  8. Your interaction was with a dealer, not with CS, unless I'm misreading something. Did you call Customer Service yourself? Are you sure the dealer told you what they told him? What's the complaint? You bought the gun, so you must have been satisfied with the deal you got. Now, you see info. on a promotion that has not yet begun, and you're sore because you didn't get in on it. If you had visited the site beforehand, and asked your dealer about the promo (as stated on the site), then you would have made a more informed decision. I'm failing to see how this Benelli's fault. Were they supposed to read your mind and notify you that since you were thinking of buying a new shotgun that you should wait for the promotion? The dealer could have and maybe should have known about the upcoming promotion, and notified you. But that would have meant turning away a sale that may or may not come back on July 15th.
  9. They're fine. The big thing is putting them near where the ducks want to be anyway. You can put out a hundred of the best decoys in the wrong place and six decoys in the right place, and guess where the ducks are going? Those look like they'd be easy to texas rig.
  10. Why not just buy the one on the ebay listing that has this picture on it?

  12. Care to share with us the make and model of the gun? Assuming it's a Benelli, did you check with Brownells, e-gunparts, Benelli Customer Service?
  13. And I'm off to the races! Look for me on ESPN2 tonight
  14. How'd you come out on the big Y2K changeover?
  15. As I recall, the 870 that I had used rounded bases and the receiver was rounded as well. But I believe you are correct about the 700 bases, as that receiver is flat. Other rifle receivers do use the rounded design, so perhaps something could match up with them. The point is that Benelli should consider using something more common, rather than the #93 pattern.

In many respects, your dad is right. When the Benellis have been performing flawlessly for nearly 60 years, then they may have some claims to the 870 throne. As far as the camo goes, I think it's more to appease the humans than it is to effectively hide from the animals. I deer and turkey hunted with an 870 for years, and I took bucks and gobblers that were mere steps away from me, but had never seen me or my glossy gun. Your dad sounds pretty cool to me. It's his job to challenge you, and it sounds like he has done a great job raising you thus far. 1. You obviously respect him and value his opinions. 2. You're a gun owner. 3. Other than the fact that you seem to have no knowledge of where the Shift key is, your communication and social skills are very good. [ 06-23-2006, 10:03 AM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

I used WD-40 on the blued surfaces of my guns back in the 70's and 80's, and yes, it seemed to do OK. Today's synthetics are far superior for protection and lubrication. That's why I said that WD-40 has no business being anywhere near firearms. There are far better choices out there.
  18. Weaver is a brand name, while Picatinny is a type. Think phillips screwdriver. Weaver #93 bases fit most Benelli's, as well as several other popular rifles made by Remington. Benelli publishes the Weaver 93 as a guide for the specs moreso than as a hardcoded reccomendation as a brand name. Any base that has the same specs as the 93 will fit the Benellis as well. Weaver 93 bases are one piece cross slot bases that allow for the scope rings to be mounted in only one position on the receiver, with the only possible forward and rearward adjustment coming from sliding the scope in the rings one way or the other. Picatinny rails are bases that feature multiple cross slots, allowing for more forward and rearward adjustment by clamping the rings in different locations. While it would seem that finding a rail to fit the SBE is impossible, many companies make Picatinny blanks that can be drilled to match the pattern of your SBE. Any gunsmith should be able to do this easily. Google - Picatinny Blank I wish Benelli would get off the Weaver 93 pattern and either use the same pattern as they do for the M series or match up to the Remington 870 or 700 pattern, both of which are more widely used and available.

duckhunt, No one here questioned whether or not your dad was a good man, a smart man, or antyhing else. If you weren't interested in hearing our opinions, then you should not have asked the question to begin with.

WD-40 is great for bicycle chains. It has no business being anywhere near firearms. of any kind. Use a damp cloth on camo dipped finishes. Use Benelli oil, CLP or similar gun oils on internal and moving parts. You can also now buy cleaners designed for camo dipped finishes. Midwayusa.com is a great source for such products. You will not find WD-40 in their list of available items. Do your dad a HUGE favor and replace his WD-40 with a bottle of Hoppes Elite. [ 06-22-2006, 10:30 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]
  22. Well, I guess I should check my auctions more often! The gunbroker listing has met the reserve with a little over a day left, so it's on the way out... hopefully.
  23. A few offers and bargain hunters, but I'm not the discounting type. If I can't get what it's worth then I'll just keep it.
