Somewhere in California a closet door just got ripped off its hinges

I'd try Gander Mountain, Cabelas, and Mann & Sons.

It's YOUR poll, girlfriend. This IS BenelliUSA.com, is it not Thanks for letting us swim... and pee... in your pool

Update: I received a PM from Brice today. I will post it only with his permission, but I will convey the important parts here and now. CS has contacted Brice and asked him to prepare the barrel and choke tube for shipment to Benelli. They will have a UPS pickup order issued to save him the freight charges. He has been assured that it will be given personal attention by the CS rep. who contacted him and by their supervisor. They will call Brice when they have the barrel in hand and they will discuss the problem with him. He also said that this was supposed to happen last time it was sent back, and that he was supposed to get a test target back as well. Neither one was done last time, and he got his misaligned-choke-tube-threaded (bent) barrel back. Let's all hope that Brice gets satisfaction this time and that the story will have a happy ending for all. Kudos to Benelli CS once again for giving it another shot.

Dear Giant, That's an extension!

I agree that it is doubtful that this poll will make or break this issue, but at least it gives those of us who feel that Benelli is short-changing Brice a chance to let them know that. That's all I ever expected it to do. I've seen more success stories from CS on here than I have failures, but so far, this one is a failure.

It has been suggested that interested parties contact Mann & Sons 618-357-2911. Someone also posted that Cabelas can get them. I think any dealer can order it for you. Then it's just a matter of price/time.

Does Benelli owe Brice Hensley a new barrel?
-
Buy the desired barrel/bolt assembly (if you can find one).

I'm going to have to join in with mudhen and Butch on this one. There is no excuse for this man not getting a remedy, AND he should be refunded his shipping costs. C'mon, Benelli. Yes, we all know this forum is not a conduit for CS, but since the poor guy has already tried that route TWICE, what other options are there? We know you're there... lurking. Come on out and make things right.

arkmallard, Welcome to the club! The punch is spiked and the finger food is days old, so be careful I see you have full command of the Shift key and appear to have the ability to write comprehensible sentences. Welcome to the top 1% of the class

Are you looking at the Comfortech page? 308 is alive an well on the standard R1 page. http://www.benelliusa.com/firearms/r1.tpl

There's currently one in timber hd on gunsamerica for $395. I believe you'll also need to buy a special forend for the slug barrel. Maybe try here too http://www.lisc.net/p377.htm

I tried using a Leupold base on mine and found that there was not enough vertical adjustment. I don't recall if it ran out high or low. Had to go back to the Picatinny rail, which is slightly tapered front to back. Shims, commonly used by long range shooters are another option. http://www.riflescopes.com/departments/626/accessories/leupold_accessories/leupold_base_shims.htm [ 08-01-2005, 02:37 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

When does school start?

But seriously, what exactly is your question? How hard is it to get a dealer to call Benelli? Depends on the dealer... and the customer too, for that matter. How hard is it for a dealer to get a gun for you? Sometimes it's very difficult.

Now that the yammering is out of the way, let's address the question. Factors affecting felt recoil will be the weight of the gun, the type of gun (gas, o/u, inertia, etc.), the recoil management system, and the design of the stock. All other factors being equal, a gas operated gun will send less recoil to your wife's shoulder, because a portion of the energy from the fired cartridge is used to operate the mechanism. In inertia operated systems, such as the Legacy's and Montefeltro's, the action is operated by the movement of the gun as it reacts to recoil. Place an inertia gun's butt against a solid object, such as a tree or brick wall, and the gun may not function properly. This gives some insight into what needs to happen to her shoulder when she fires one. Consider the 20 ga. Franchi Raptor. It's slightly heavier, gas operated, and ported. Depending on her height and reach, it may be worthwhile to consider a youth-sized gun. Consult other female shooters, knowledgable dealers, and others at the range. If possible, have your wife shoulder various guns and see what she likes or dislikes about them. Even better would be if she could actually shoot a few at the range before buying. I just bought a Franchi Veloce in 20 ga., and I can tell you that she'd probably love the weight, but hate the recoil of that gun. Unless you're really constrained by budget, don't consider the Condor. It's a cheap gun. It's good for its market, but I suspect you want something better for your wife.
