  1. Greentop has been there a long time. I bought from them back in the early 80's. They can be a bit pricey, or at least they used to be. I haven't been there in several years. GM in Fredericksburg had good stock when I bought my SBEII from them a few years back, and their prices were fair. I haven't been to the new GM or BPS near Richmond yet.

Putting aside magazine extensions, 3.5", and left-handed options, let's get to the most important question: Will it float the fourth?
  4. I've got: Leupold VX-III 6.5-20 X 50 Leupold VX-III 3.5-10 X 50 Zeiss Conquest 3.-10 X 44 Bushnell 3200 3-9 X 40 I also once had a Zeiss in the 6.5-20 X 50 as well. As others have stated, it's hard to go wrong with either brand. I'd give a slight edge to Zeiss. I really like the middle ground covered by the 44mm obj. on my BAR. Bigger and more light gathering than the 40, but not as clunky as the 50 mm. As for the reticle, you choose whatever suits you. if you want a fine crosshair, then get one. But if you want a heavier one, then they're available as well.
  5. Just making sure. The judge don't care for the whole ignorance plea very much.
  6. Ammunition is considered to be hazardous materials by the DOT, classified as ORM-D. Restrictions as well as additional fees apply. http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/resources/ship/hazardous/examples/ground_ormd.html http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/resources/ship/hazardous/responsible/index.html
  7. What about shipping?
  8. Kids like white dogs. They're like a blank canvas.
  9. Oh... I wouldn't recommend walking into Sears with the shotgun.
  10. You need a wrench to fit the nut underneath. Don't know what size it is though. Auto mechanics use skinny little wrenches for tuning, so maybe NAPA or Snap-on can fix you up. You might be able to get needle nose pliers on it?
  11. There are six or seven on gunbroker right now.
  12. A pointer won't do you much good on waterfowl. Ducks don't tend to hold as tightly as quail.

Overkill. I mean, yeah, they make a mess, but just put some salt on them.
  14. It's modular, so all you have to do is turn it over - Voila! - Left-handed. I'm not interested in a LH model until they make it in 3.5".

  16. I'd say lab, unless you're hunting big fresh water or the sea. Chesapeake Bay Retrievers are bred to handle rough water better. You can find a great dog on Craigslist or at the SPCA, and you can find a useless dog from a high-dollar breeder, with plenty of room in between. If you spend time with the dog and work with it, it will do whatever you want it to do, and be a great family dog as well. There are plenty of books and videos on the subject. Don't ask someone else to raise your kids. Don't ask someone else to train your dog.
  17. Made you look! 4-1-2009
  18. Or in this case, copying and pasting to the choir. I know a guy who just came out of a four year long sabatical with monks on a mountain top. No phones, electricity, mail, tv... nothing. I showed him your rant. he said, "Oh, that one again."
  19. The first mistake you made was to buy from a non-stocking dealer. The second mistake you made was to give the non-stocking dealer a deposit, with no clearly defined deadline for delivery vs refund. The third mistake you made was to order a gun from someone who didn't have it, when there's always someone who does have it and who is ready to sell.
