Questions: 1) What kind of shape is the SBE in-------is it showing rust, scratches, dings? Percentage of new, what would it be? 2) What kind of price can you get the SBE for-----and what does the Franchi cost? What finish does each gun have----camo, black, etc? Given a certain set of answers, I can think of a number of reasons to get the SBE.

tucker---- thanks for the info on gunkote. That looks like it could be a possibility. Do you know how durable gunkote is to scratching?

Does anybody have a photo of the "magni comp". I did not see any reference to it on their website. I would like to get an idea what it looks like.

I ran into a guy at the gun club who has an SBE 1 that he has used for waterfowl hunting over several seasons. It is black SBE with the "matte" finish on the metal. It is showing some finish wear mainly on the barrel. Does anybody know of a competent shop that would properly refinish the matte bluing or parkerizing or whatever is that is on the barrel back to a factory look. He is only interested in getting the barrel assembly refinished. Thanks!

Nice looking O/U tucker------do you shoot clay birds with it?

I am telling you my strong belief------definitely go for a 26". I debated for a bit before I bought mine, and finally decided on the 26"-------I could not be happier. A SBE has a much shorter forearm than many other autos (which are gas guns). I think they balance perfect with a 26" and they definitely look right in a 26" because of the short forearm. Plus, if you add an aftermarket extended choke, you are going to have almost 27" anyway with the choke in. [ 03-08-2006, 07:50 PM: Message edited by: Remy ]

Hey BenelliBoy, That's cool------I have a couple of Remingtons myself. They are great guns-----and American made too! [ 03-08-2006, 05:25 PM: Message edited by: Remy ]

I am confused------- you are "BenelliBoy", but you don't own any Benellis------ Okaaaaaaay? So what------- you just fantasize about them?

I purchased a new SBE 1 about two months ago, and I have shot it a bit since then, but no hunting, yet. It is a great gun. I did some price checking using Impact Guns online site. I compared the price of an SBE II, black, Comfortech, 26" barrel to an M2 with the same specific features. The price difference was exactly $300.00. Whether that difference is worth it to you, I don't know. For me it was an easy decision because I got my new SBE 1 cheaper than what a comparable M2 would have cost me and I did not feel the need to have an SBE II over an SBE 1. I have never fired an M1 or an M2 so I can't make comparisons with an SBE. I guess you will have to decide how much you may want to fire 3.5" shells. Another consideration might be resale value. The SBE is a "legendary" gun and may hold its value more than an M2 would. Unless you are sure you will never want to sell or trade the gun, resale value is a consideration. i

I am not a M4 owner but they interest me. To settle this completely, why doesn't someone call Benelli customer service (301 283-6981) tomorrow and get a definitive answer to this question about whether they have changed the M4 magazine design. I would do it myself, but I have to out of town on business for a couple days.
-
If this is true, why does the photo on Benelli's own website still show the original style barrel lug/magazine arrangement?
-
Wrong Benelli forum, dude. This is for the firearms type Benelli's-----------not the motorcycles. I am not sure where to locate the Benelli bike forum. Good luck!

I have an older 6 and one-half inch barrel Model 29 and it is a beautiful handgun. Have you shot that 3 inch 629 much, yet. I would think the muzzle blast with full house 44 mag. loads would require some serious ear protection.

Thanks for the comments you guys. It is good to know that there are other barrels like this out there. Maybe I will just get an extended choke and forget about it. I DO have a concern that some of the aftermarket extended choke tubes may bottom out on top of the barrell where they expand larger outside of the muzzle----before they seat against the barrel "shelf" inside the gun. tucker, As best as I can tell it does meet evenly down inside the barrel. I guess I was concerned mainly about the buildup of carbon in the gap between the top of the choke and the top of the muzzle. It might make it harder to remove the choke after a while. Plus, as a more minor concern, it looks kind of goofy. Thanks for your comment.

I have a chance to get a new SBEII type Crio barrel------the barrel only. The problem is that something looks screwy with the muzzle end of the barrel. With the factory crio choke seated in the barrel, the top of the choke is recessed almost one-eighth of an inch down inside. Any screw in choke I have ever seen is pretty much flush with the muzzle unless it is an extended type. This is recessed down INTO the barrel. I think it maybe it is a factory screwup. Please, I would appreciate any input regarding this situation.

Likwid, I agree with you for the most part-----completely!

tucker, I think what I meant was, say that when an employer, has a number of jobs, say construction jobs that normally would pay $15.00 an hour. And say it is generally considered that $15.00 is a fair pay for that job. So a bunch of illegals roll into the area and approach the employer with a spokesman that promises his men will do the same jobs for $9.00 an hour and the spokesman (leader) guarantees their work and he will supervise them. In that case, many bosses will say-----what the ****, I can save $6.00 an hour on each worker, why not! You might think that these illegals can't do this forever, they will need a higher wage to make it here like legal residents. But-------that is not true. I have seen this personally. They come to the US for six months and live in some Sh**hole apartment with six to eight other illegals and "hot bunk it". Then they go back to Mexico and live well down there on their $9.00 an hour. While they are up here they have all kinds of perks-----free health care and other government handouts. And of course they drive cars-----without insurance in almost every case! And then there is the highly desireable gang problems that seem to occur where the illegals concentrate. Here in Oregon we have a HUGE meth problem that is fueled by illegal "mules" that run the drugs up and down Interstate Five and then they split back over the border if they aren't caught. And if they are caught for drugs, theft, rape, murder-----you name it, then they are in prison on the taxpayers nickel. In Oregon the state peniteniary has a huge number of illegal convicts. Then when they get out, they are sent back to Mexico-----and the cycle begins all over again. Personally---- I am sick of it!!

garren, So the illegal Mexicans who illegally sneak into our country are "worker bees" not "users". You better talk to someone who has an intimate knowledge of hospitals (such as my wife) or k through 12th grade education (such as my brother). These "worker bees" are putting hospital emergency rooms out of business, left and right as well as costing legal American citizens billions of extra dollars to educate the children of these criminals------yes thats right, people who break the law are criminals! That bulls**t about them doing jobs that citizens will not do is a lie. Their presence allows greedy companies to underpay many jobs and make more profit for the owners. Go out to a construction site and what do you see---------mostly illegal alien criminals. Those are jobs citizens will do, but the presence of the illegals allows construction bosses to pull off a scam and make more profit. Get rid of the illegal alien criminals and you would have all kinds of family wage jobs for legal citlzens. Hey, if getting rid of illegal alien criminals will make the price of my tomatoes and lettuce go up a 40 cents a pound, so be it. I will either pay it or go without. These criminal aliens need to go, and I mean now. If it takes a wall or the whole Marine Corps. to do it that is fine with me!

mudhen, Are these the ones you are talking about? http://www.quakeinc.com/slinga5.html

What shotgun is the FN police model based on? It's not a Winchester 1400 is it? I can't visualize what the FN gun looks like.

In my experience, most of the major gun companies do not have an actual expiration date for warranty repair. For legal purposes they state a period as in five years for Benelli guns, but in actuality if the gun is having a legimate problem that is not the result of abuse they will continue to repair it at little or no charge. In your case vincey, I am not sure where the nearest factory repair center would be, so that might pose a problem legally with shipping it to another country. You might email Benelli and see what they have to say about it. I have had guns completely replaced that had a problem that was not easily fixed (in my case a Glock, not a Benelli).
-
vincey, I wish I could help you, but I just got my SBE 1 and have only fired about two boxes of shells through it------working like a charm!
