  2. I have a new SBE 1, black with a 26" barrel-----love it! [ 02-20-2006, 03:38 PM: Message edited by: Remy ]

    ammo problems

Could you be more specific as to where the chip in the barrel is and how big it is? I am trying to figure what would have caused such a thing to happen.
  4. I am left-handed and shoot right-handed autos, with NO problems. If you buy a right-handed SBE II, then you can buy your slug barrel and you are set up!! By the way, the SBE II safety is fairly easy to turn around for left-hand use. There is a post on the forum describing how to do it----with a diagram.
  5. Good old Model 97------you have got to love them!
  6. The model 41 Smith&Wesson is a fine shooting pistol, but at the higher end price-wise. Another choice would be one of the Sigarms Trailside pistols. They are reasonably priced and accurate.
  7. Butch, The lying, opinionated "main-stream" media is a MAJOR pet peeve of mine, also.

    Pricing Help

Sounds like a good price to me!
  9. My understanding is that ANY shotgun with a barrel length of less than 18" is considered a Title 2 firearm and must be registered with the Federal government and you must purchase a $200.00 transfer permit when you buy it. [ 02-15-2006, 12:57 PM: Message edited by: Remy ]
  10. mudhen, Will a metal swivel also be a problem with the magazine cap that the SBE1 has? I am looking to set my SBE up with a sling before next season.
  11. HAHA-----very funny, volatile agent.
  12. In case you are wondering what the Nazi forum software edited out of my name for John-boy Edwards, it is the nick name for a cat and rhymes with woosie!
  13. Tucker, You may think that the Vice President is a jerk, but you sure would have never seen Lurch(Kerry) or *****-face(Edwards) out quail hunting. They would be too busy scheming a way to disarm law-abiding gun owners and run all the gun companies out of business with frivolous lawsuits!!
  14. Interesting information. Thanks a lot for posting that, Butch!

    No News from Benelli

Hmmm...... I did not know Beretta had purchased Burris--------very interesting.
  16. Ferret, I also welcome you to the forum. I purchased a new SBE 1 recently and I am looking forward to using it next season. I am kind of a picky consumer and sometimes fixate on small cosmetic flaws and the like. But one thing I have found that helps me feel comfortable about a purchase I have made is to discuss it with others and receive additional input. I think you did the right thing by posting your concerns about your new gun and soliciting other Benelli owners opinions. I know that the guys on this forum have answered several questions I have had and I certainly appreciate that. I will keep my eyes and ears open for any info regarding trigger or safety improvements that can be done to the SBE II and I will pass that on in your direction if I come across anything.
  17. mudhen, You say Kent is discontinuing Matrix shells----whats up with that, I have never used them. Was it because of poor performance, price, what?

DC50, The Extrema is a gas gun. I have a Beretta 303 which is an earlier model of a Beretta gas gun. I like it a lot, but the Benelli Inertia system is less complicated and potentially less subject to problems from extreme hunting conditions and lack of cleaning. I am not saying anything negative about the Beretta, but you can't go wrong with the proven design of the SBE!
  19. Hey bwnr, Excellent haul of ducks and geese!!! Bet your barrels were heating up a bit on that goose shoot. Where's your guns? Any Super Black Eagles in the bunch? What a great hunt. I am envious!
  20. Beautiful photo pbro21. That is a nice days "work"! I hope to do some similar damage with my brand new SBE, when I break it in next season. Tucker----nice job of photo "manipulation".
  21. I would suggest a 26". I feel it is the right barrel for an SBE. Because of the relatively short forearm that the SBE has, it looks right and balances right. Years ago I felt 28" or 30" were the only way to go for waterfowl, but I bought a Beretta 303 with a 26" about 10 years ago and have been totally converted. I love how a 26" barrel comes up and how it swings in an autoloading shotgun. If you put after market extended chokes in the barrel, then you have almost 27" anyway. I would definitely go 26" in an autoloader and probably a pump, too. And by the way, if you happen to use the gun for upland game, you will really appreciate the 26 incher. 22. Tucker, How do you like the Dead Zone decoy? Any other chokes of similar constriction that you have had good luck with. I am thinking about trying something for the heck of it in my new SBE1, to use next duck season. Thanks.
  23. Tucker, What choke tube is that on the lefty SBE? Is it a Primos?
  24. kengps, I don't think I would shoot that barrel the way you describe it. That offset area could cause a pressure spike as the wad and shot move past it. Sorry for your bad luck.
  25. Sometimes I hunt ducks on a local river. There also is pretty good Canada goose hunting in grass fields around the area. Local ponds offer nice decoyed ducks mid to late season. Another option is Summer Lake which is a large public hunting area in the Southeastern part of Oregon. It is several thousand acres in size. There is good hunting along some parts of the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington, although I don't have much experience there.
