    Correct stock plate

Hey rch3030 Thanks for responding to my question. You say you have a right hand SBE 1 like I do and you have set it up properly to shoot it left-handed. What specifically did you change on the gun? My manual shows that there are right hand stock locking plates (A,B,C) and left hand stcck locking plates (A-S,B-S,C-S). My gun being right handed, came with A,B, and C locking plates, of course. Do I need to purchase a set of left hand stock locking plates? I don't see on an SBE 1 that there is any other procedure that can be done to adjust the stock to shoot it left handed. What did you change on your gun. I would very much appreciate you describing any changes you made to correct the gun to shoot it left handed. Thanks a lot!

    Hevi-steel Opinions

Hey IdahoDucker, I found those shells at a local Bi-Mart store. I don't think there are any Bi-Marts in Idaho. There is one in Ontario OR and it would not be a terribly long drive from Meridian. Maybe you could give them a call and see if they have any left on sale.
  3. Actually you can hunt with lead shot. Turkey and most upland game as well as rabbits in most states. Also, I think you can still hunt ducks in Mexico with lead.

    Hevi-steel Opinions

mudhen and others, After reading about the coming price increases in shotshells containing tungsten, I went out to check current prices at a few local stores. A couple of local sporting goods stores had them at last seasons general prices. Then I went to a general mechandise chain store that carries some guns and ammo. Well, I was shocked to find their Remington Hevishot ammo at what seems awesome prices. All of their Hevishot shells are on sale with an additional 30% off the sale price. 1) Reminton Hevishot 3.5 inch, one and one half ounce loads in #2, #4, and #6 shot are $13.88 a box. 2) Remington Hevishot 3 inch, one and one quarter ounce loads in #2, #4, and #6 shot are $12.38 a box. Are these as good a prices as I think they are? You guys might want to check around your local stores and see if they have any end of season close outs like I found. You may find a bargain or two!

    Hevi-steel Opinions

I found this graph online that pretty much shows the price movement in Tungsten. It is unfortunate! It figures though-------right as I want to get back into waterfowl hunting! http://www.primarymetals.ca/images/graphs/tungstenprices_lg.jpg

mudhen, I am not familiar with the price increases on tungsten shot that you mention. What is up with that? If you have any info regarding the price increases, would you please post it. Thanks!
  7. OK, duck season is over for this year. What is the general opinion of the effectiveness of Hevi-steel shotshells?

    SBEII Born-on Date?

To determine the manufacture date, you would have to know the serial number assignment procedure that Benelli uses. Probably the only way to find that out is to contact either Customer Service at their Maryland offices or contact the factory in Italy.

    Fair price for SBE

Sid, Your profile says you live in the Northwest. If that means Oregon or Wash. you should check at Sportsmans Warehouse. I bought a brand new SBE 1, 26 incher for $979.00 about three weeks ago. I know the Sportsmans in Bend Ore. had FOUR SBE 1's with 28 inch barrels, new in sealed boxes for $999.00 each. When I bought my gun the Fishermans supply in Portland had a new SBE 1 26 inch for $979.00. If you live in Ore. or Wash. I would check at one of the Sportsmans Warehouses or Fishermans Supply. Also, Keith's Sportingoods in Portland had a bunch of new SBE 1's a short while back. If you don't have the bucks for a new gun, that camo one won't be a bad deal because I think Benelli will cover you on warranty even if you did not buy the gun new. Most gun companies will cover their products way beyond any stated warranty, as long as the needed repair is from a reasonable situation. [ 01-30-2006, 07:17 PM: Message edited by: Remy ]
  11. I like to take duck breasts and broil them on a barbeque just like a sirloin steak. Believe it or not they taste more like beef than anything.

    SBE 1 Balance

I just got my X-Coil pad to put on my new SBE 1. I am considering buying a factory mercury recoil reducer to put in the stock. My gun has the 26 inch barrel and I am wondering how that recoil reducer will affect the balance and swing of the gun. Do any of you guys have a SBE or M1 with a 26 inch barrel that you have installed the recoil reducer into? If so, how did it affect the handling of the gun. I plan to use if for mostly waterfowl hunting with some dove and upland also. Thanks.

    Shotgun's Color

My opinion---------Black is beautiful and black rules!
  15. Hey Deadly, As long as you don't live in an outright Communist state such as California, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jeresy, etc., I would not worry so much about it. Simply sit down and draw up a short bill of sale with both your names on it and maybe get info of his drivers license. I think that would work fine. To my knowledge, if you bought the Nova in Utah, they do not keep your informantion on file after a relatively short time (as required by law).
  16. drake22, Awesome story with a great ending. SBE's all the way!!

    XCOIL PADS

I am ordering an X-coil pad for my SBE. I don't think the pad will effect reliability----but that is a good question. I would think that if the X-coil affected reliability, then the Sims Limbsaver would too and I have not heard any complaints about them either. Maybe someone who has had some field experience with the pads will jump on this thread.
  18. I would return it for a replacement from Benelli. Most gun companies are pretty good about going over and beyond their stated warranty period when customer claims are reasonable. Another option would be to order an after market pad from somebody like Sims or Hiviz. Check to see if they have a prefit one that will work on the supersport. 19. arloe, Yes, I suppose it is some dumb-*** liability feature dreamed up by an over paid, under worked corporate lawyer. I have never seen that setup but it is along the same stupid lines as the cross-bolt or top-tang safety on the model 94. Aren't lawyers and our legal system wonderful !!
  20. Since the ammunition business is totally uneffected by the closure announcement, I find it very confusing why anyone would raise their Winchester ammunition prices !!
  21. Hey, Nice photos! Beautiful early morning sunrise.

    SBE II recoil

Yes, another alternative is the X-coil pad. Mudhen suggested getting one because he had heard they might be the best. I am going to order one from Cabelas, as they carry the prefit model that you can put right on to a SBE. I am not sure if that model fits the SBE II. I think the price is $29.95.
  23. The ammunition business is owned by Olin Corporation, a U.S. company. The firearms business is operated by FN Corp. of Liege, Belgium.
  24. Having owned a number of pump guns in my life, I would agree the 870 is a great gun-------but the Model 12 and the Ithaca Model 37 would definitely be in contention for the overall best pump gun!
  25. I know this is a little off topic, but I was shocked to see this article on another firearms forum. It would be really sad if this actually happens. It goes to show what happens when you have a foreign company (FN of Belgium) owning an American company! http://www.courant.com/news/local/hc-repeating-arms-0117,0,5088905.story?track=mostemailedlink
