New 30" Crio Barrel for Super Sport/ Sport 2 with 5 chokes for $475
Remy replied to Coloradoryan's topic in Benelli
What a deal----------if you win the auction with the starting bid amount-------you save a penny. It is a nice barrel, if you are looking for one of that type. -
1) Yes, the barrel from an SBE will fit a SBE II. No modifications are needed in this scenario. 2) A SBE stock is not interchangeable with a SBE II because of the difference in the trigger guards. 3) The SBE forearm will work on a SBE II gun, as long as the SBE II has an SBE barrel on it. If you are attempting to use a SBE forearm with a SBE II barrel, see number #5 below for necessary modifications. 4) A SBE II forearm will work on either model of the gun. 5) A SBE II barrel will work perfectly on a SBE, as long as you either use a SBE II forearm, OR----- you get the SBE forearm modified slightly. This modification is at the rear inside of the SBE forearm and is not visible when the gun is assembled. I have been told that you can send the SBE forearm to Benelli USA in Maryland and they will do it, or they may be able to explain to you how to do it.

dandy, You may not be able to purchase a SBE II in Sweden. But, if the information posted by tucker from the Benelli Italy site is correct, you may be able to purchase the Super Black Eagle 1 model. I recently purchased a SBE 1 and I am very happy with it. It is very similar to the SBE II, but does not have the Comfortech stock. But, if you purchase an after market recoil pad such as the X-coil or Limbsaver, you may attain recoil reduction similar to the Comfortech stock. The SBE 1 fires most all forms of 12 gauge ammo just the same as the SBE II does. Personally I like the appearance of the SBE 1 over that of the SBE II. The trigger guard on the SBE 1 is metal-----the SBE II is made of plastic. If you can purchase a SBE 1----go for it-----they are excellent guns!!

Doesn't matter if it was imported by HK or not---- it is still a Benelli. I would definitely contact Benelli customer service about it. Yes, I know that you have had it longer than the official warranty period, but most reputable gun companies stand behind their products for an unstated time period as long as abuse has not taken place.

Dandy, I am not sure what it is, but I can tell you this-----it is NOT a Super Black Eagle because the rear "hood" of the barrel does extend back over the receiver. That extension is a classic component of the SBE design, as far as I know.
-
It's not an M2-----------look at the length of the forearm and white lettering by the ejection port. It looks like a Montefeltro with a Comfortech stock. Also look at the magazine cap-------its not like an M2. And the receiver and barrel are high polish, not matte like an M2 should be. It appears to be a variant that is not available in the U.S.-----so maybe it is a "European M2'. [ 04-02-2006, 04:12 PM: Message edited by: Remy ]

cut emnova, Here ya go! http://www.impactguns.com/store/BEN-BARREL-SBEII-M.html

I have heard that rumor myself. Maybe someone else knows more facts on the subject.
-
I agree with you doubletap. I may pick up a Montefeltro or an M2 this year. It will no doubt be a 26". I really like how my 26" SBE handles.

jeeeeezzz!! I had not checked the Benelli web sight for a while. They have definitely have upgraded it. I like it! It's cool when you move the cursor to certain catagories like accessories, the image rapidly shows the gun changing through various arrangements. Good job.

I have an SOG multi-tool, but I don't have any of their knives. Their mult-tool is nice, though.
-
AR-BALLISTIC, I agree with you 100%. I have seen both setups and I like how the EOTECH looks and works.

If the wear you speak of is where I think it is, I have an answer, at least on an SBE. When you reassemble the gun and are sliding the magazine tube through the forearm (which is attached to the barrel at that point) the magazine tube can contact the inside of the forearm and specifically the steel rings that are at the front of the forearm. If the barrel and forearm are canted slightly in relation to the magazine tube, the tube will scrape across the steel rings and the aluminum tube gets scratched. I found out by experience that if you try to reassemble the SBE without having removed the bolt handle, you will have to wiggle the two halves around to get them together. In the process of wiggling, the magazine tube will get scratched. If you remove the bolt handle at disassembly, as the manual says, you can usually reassemble the gun without scratching things up. A gunsmith told me that it is faster to leave the bolt handle in place during disassembly, but what the jackass did not tell me is that you can scratch the gun up a lot easier when you have to wiggle everything around in the process. Always remove the bolt handle------my advice from bitter experience.

The SBE has a long "receiver section" which extends the sight plane a bit longer than the same area of most autos. Because of that fact and the relatively short forearm, I have found that a 26" barrel is perfect for me. In a hunting shotgun, I don't see any advantages at all for the 30" barrel.

I don't know for sure, but I doubt that Benelli or Beretta would allow for a Stoeger 2000 in 3 1/2 inch with the inertia system to be built, because it would be in direct competition with the SBE.

harry, If you are speaking about the M1 Garand, I don't see a real need for a recoil reduction pad. Between the gas operation and the weight of the gun, I shoot an M1 all day without really being bothered from recoil.

I think you need to go to the Uberti Forum to stand a better chance of getting an answer to your question. Here is the link: http://www.benelliusa.com/forums/ultimatebb.php/forum/4.html

I have not heard any comments (and I have been looking) regarding shortening or restricting waterfowl seasons in North America. Hopefully this will turn out to be a manageable problem without any major impact on waterfowl hunting. I recently bought a new gun and a new hunting parka for next fall's season. I am going to be PISSED (PO'ed) if we get screwed on hunting. I am praying and keeping my fingers crossed.

After doing a Google search, it appears the Title 1 minimum legal barrel length for a normal category shotgun is 18 inches with a minimum overall length of 26 inches. The minimum for a normal category rifle barrel is 16 inches.

Hey IdahoDucker, My "obsolete" SBE1 also has a perfect rib with NO defects. Sorry for that all you "defect" guys. It gives me one less thing to stress out about. SBE1's RULE!!

Joe, I agree with you that your center bead should be attached correctly on a $1500.00 dollar shotgun. Things like that can bug some people. Call Benelli Customer service-------see what they have to say about it.
-
It's good to hear positive experiences like this, mudhen. This type of stuff is what builds customer loyalty!
-
Well stated Butch--------- I agree with you 100% !!
-
Rock Hall, What effect does having the magazine cap tightened down. I can't figure what that would be pushing on to make it not function correctly. I like to keep mine tight.

AMAZING!!! Looks like the gun got a few dings in it to boot!
