    M4 Upgrades

Shells in the side saddle are upside down. You pull down and then feed it into the magazine. Not up and out and down. Pat
  2. So you don't like identifying your target before you shoot. Not smart. Lights are a must have on any defensive weapon. Pat
  3. Wow a guy who probably did not finish high school is questioning my intelligence.
  4. I voted for Obama. His stance on guns is not good but what he has been doing seem to be bring the economy around slowly. Also there has been no gun bans as all the chicken littles predicted as soon as Obama took office. The main reason most of the chicken littles don't like him is because he is black. Pat
  5. I like Trijicon's products but the reflex sights suck. They darken the lens to make the amber reticle stand out. It washes out against many backgrounds. As for the batteries don't worry about it with Aimpoint. Just turn it on and leave it on. That is what I do with my Aimpoint M4. I have not had to change the batteries and I have had it for a year now. 7 more to go. Batteries in Aimpoints are easier to change than tritium in the reflex and they both last about the same now. Pat
  6. I own an M4 and a friend has the M2. I fired his with full power 3 inch slugs and did the same with my gun. His gun kicks much much worse. M4 no question don't look back. Pat
  7. A friend of mine just got a sweet deal on a Nova and would like to buy a shorter barrel for it. Where can he get barrels and how much? Pat
  8. The Mesa unit works great. A side saddle is a must on a combat shotgun. Pat
  9. I would take a .223/5.56 carbine when my life is on the line. The shotgun is fine but its more limited in range and capacity and its harder to shoot. The subgun is just a pistol with a stock attached. No thanks. When you need a long gun you need one in a rifle caliber. Pat
  10. The problem is you are comparing bird hunting to combat. It is not the same. When you are shooting with a shotgun at CQB distances your pattern is not going to be that large. At 10 yard the pattern on my Vang 870 is about 4 inches tops. The M4 is slightly larger. That is not a large enough pattern to just point shoot with. You have to aim and shoot a combat shotgun just like a carbine. Lets compare a game that is far closer to CQB that bird hunting Three gun. In three gun in open class where optics are allowed on shotguns you will see all the top shooters using them. There is a reason for that it makes them faster and gives them an edge. I shoot three gun and I am also a firearms instructor for my department. I have to tell you that shooting a carbine and a shotgun is not all that different. I greatly prefer the carbine for most functions. The only time I break the shotgun out anymore is for bears and moose and its always loaded with slugs for that task so its really a big bore rifle. I have very little use for buck shot. Pat
  11. Have you actually tested that theory with a timer at the range. I used to think like you did but found myself faster with a solid 2 to 4 moa dot. The ring was all but useless at anything other than point shooting range where you really did not need it. I found myself using the 1 moa dot mostly. The Eotech is a good sight but I found the Aimpoint slightly faster but less precise. Pat
  12. Skeet is not combat not even close. Optics are always a plus on CQB guns rather they be shotguns or carbines. We are going to have to agree to disagree. Pat
  13. They recommend a 50 yard 0 because that is where the .223 is best 0 at. IF you are 0'd at 50 you are also 0'd at 225. Optics also give you an edge in CQB no need to wait to 50 yards. Optics are always a plus and do not slow you down. Pat
  14. I slid it over the barrel but the interface would not line up properly with the reciever. Slightly off. Pat
  15. The M80 did not fit my m4 I had to send it back. Pat
  16. Sorry but your are wrong. At close range 0-25 yards nothing beats a 12 gauge with Breneke slugs at stopping a brown bear that is charging. A Lever gun in 45-70 comes close but I still would prefer the shotgun with Breneke slugs. We have put a fair number of bear down with them here. Pat
  17. Glad your ok. But the sound of a auto's bolt being racked will have the same effect as a pump being pumped. In the end its the idea of being shots that makes most of them run. Pat
  18. No buck no standard foster slugs. Stick with Breneke slugs if you need to stop a bear they work. We have had to use them quite a bit on bears up here. Pat

    M4 front sight

I used pliers and they worked ok. pat
  20. Mine just came with the improved cylinder. I purchased the others. Pat
  21. No for 00 buck I use the standard choke. But up here I use my shotgun as a big bore rifle for bear and moose. For gun calls with people I use my Colt 6920 (223 carbine). I don't load buck into my shotgun. Its loaded with all Breneke slugs. Pat
  22. Yes the tube is belled in at the end and you put in what looks like a follower but it goes in the tube and holds the spring in place. Its made by Daves Metal works. http://www.davesmetalworks.com/ben.html One word of caution I am getting by the law (Section 922) by being a law enforcement office using this as my duty shotgun. For you to install the extended magazines (more than 5 rounds) you need to make it a short barrel shotgun or have 5 or more US made parts in your gun. My gun has a US made tube, and extension and follower. Also with the extension I can actually load 8 in the tube 1 on the carrier and one in the chamber for 10 rounds. Pat
  23. I sighted the shotgun in to hit at point of aim at 50 yards. Rifled chokes are simple screw in chokes with rifling. No grades. The thing at the end of my barrel is a magazine extension. It allows me to load 8 rounds in the magazine. I shoot in USPSA three gun competitions and the class I shoot allows you to have 8+1 in the gun. This allows me to be competitive. I can load 8+1+1 but its a pain in the arse to load the carrier while on line at a match. Pat
