  1. Funny, the US Army issues Benchmade Auto Stryker 9100's. I've had one since 2004 and have carried it every day since. Aside from the finish being worn off the blade, handle and belt clip, it functions perfectly. It is a servicable knife, which means any monkey can dissassemble it and put it back together.

I removed the spine safety from mine with no negative effect.

I've never replaced the spring. It is still very strong. If needed, replacement springs are easy to find online.

The 154cm steel holds and takes an edge very well. The reinforced tanto blade profile is very tough. It has never broken off or chipped.

    Army issue means nothing.

  2. Automatics knives are outlawed in California how about in your state?

Outlawed here in Illinois to. Only to firefighters, ems, and police. I bought one when I was a firefighter just because I could.

  3. I'm going to ignore your comment on buck knives. Comparing coldsteel to a benchmade auto isn't really a fair comparison, but he does have a point about autos in general. There not as fast as my kershaw blur, which is what I use for daily carry. Its not an auto, but it does have the speedsafe action on it. I would never use an auto in a situation where I was relying on my knife, I just think there fun.

But, back to your question, in relation to other autos, benchmades are the best in my opinion.

EDIT…Forgot to mention, Kershaw knives are made in Oregon too!

Whats wrong with my comment on buck knives? There is USA made and other. The other sucks, The USA one are good.

  4. Are Benchmade automatics good knives ?

Benchmade are nice. Coldsteel is better. Automatic knifes are a gimic. They don't open any faster.

Buck makes a few good ones to. I carry a buck strider.

  5. Saw this in Outdoor Life the other day.

If your first reaction upon seeing this creation from Lauer Custom Weaponry is, “That doesn’t look stock,” congratulate yourself on your powers of observation. Yes, Lauer can build you a rifle with an arrow gun attached that fires bolts with a .22 blank. And, yes, you can get one with a custom blood-spattered pattern that shows off your zombie-horde-fighting cred.

Underneath the unusual bolt-ons is a reliable .223 that is ready to take on any worm-eaten monstrosity you might face—or the zombie stage during your next 3-gun match. The compensator, from Bushmaster, does a good job of keeping the rifle on target, while the 3.5X ACOG gives you a clear and bright aiming point.

If you think the undead are scary, wait till you see the tiny cluster of holes this gun produces after emptying the 30-round magazine. [ $1,895, optics not included; lauerweaponry.com ]

Put a sippy cup holder on that thing and I could see Skeeter buying that.

  6. Get off your high horse, that Nova is that much better that the good old Win 1300........like tucker said know one will even know the diff when the thing goes bang in the middle of the night. I guarantee either one will work when you want them to.

If your refering to me, I grew up shooting winchesters. NO problems with them at all. I have all my grandfathers. 2 model 12's, 1897, and a 1300.

  7. I am looking for a semi auto shotgun with an 18" barrel and adjustable choke. But has a regular vent rib, not a rifle sight.

I cant seem to find anything shorter than 21".

Is there a reason for this?

    Anyone make aftermarket barrel?

My purpose is primarily tactical matches but I don't shoot slugs so a straight rib is nice for speed. The adjustable choke would allow for some woods hunting.

    Anyone got suggestions?

You will have to get a barrel cut down. Buy a 28 inch barrel, have it cut down and threaded for chokes, and use the rest of the barrel for a club. :)

  8. it amazes me that people selling items on line dont check their emails regularly i sent the seller an email last night and still no reply?? lets just see how long it takes him to answer.:p

Give me 100 bucks at I'll mail you back. ;). And quit maxing out your smiley faces. I have to delete one of yours to put one of mine every time I want to be a smart azz.

  9. My Super Nova sucks! Plain and simple! What choke a shell combos can I expect a outstanding result with?

How far are you shooting? And what shell/choke are you shooting now? I'm guess you have other shotguns that pattern better with the same shell/choke combo for you to say it sucks.

I've kill plenty of birds with my nova.

  10. I just bought a Supernova & I'm becoming increasingly irritated that I can't find so much as a choke tube from Benelli, let alone barrels, stocks, etc.... So my question is how am I supposed to buy things for my gun that Benelli claims to offer, but nobody appears to sell? Am I overlooking or overthinking how to go about ordering accessories, or do I need to rid myself of a gun that the manufacturer refuses to sell the advertised accessories and buy a Mossberg or a Remington that everyone & their mother makes anything & everything for?

    Any info/advice is welcome.

    Thanks.

what are you looking for? Chokes? http://www.choketube.com. Recoil pad? http://Www.limsavers.com.

  11. Thanks! I just checked the regs and didnt see anything specifically saying I cant have slugs on me while bird hunting. I would be going first and foremost as back up for my friend. The Turkey hunting would probably only happen if he tags a bear before the week is over. In which case, I would not need to have the slugs on me. I was going to to post the link to our regs but I dont have enough posts yet. Damn't anyways.

Any particular type of slugs you would recommend?

I've never had to defend myself off from bears before. But like I said, hard hitting (3 inch) and solid slugs. Chances of you have to shoot one will be slim to none. Black bears are more scared of you than you are for them.

  12. I know 2 nova's and a supernova. At are great guns. I've had zero problems with any of them. I perfer my novas over my super. But like I said. All are great guns.

  13. A friend of mine asked to me to act as a back up on his upcoming black bear archery hunt. I was planning on carrying a .300 WM bolt action rifle. He suggested using my Super black eagle II loaded with slugs. This would be nice because I can also hunt for turkeys at the same time.

It just sounds odd to me, but has anybody here used there shotgun on a black bear with slugs?

slugs would fine for black bear. Get some solids that won't expand. But, check your local laws. In my state, you can't have slugs on your person when turkey hunting.
